Chapter 13
Chapter 13 — 50 Years of Wrongfulness
“Her meaning was very clear.” Tong Can Nien's voice is not loud. “Please don't continue to meddle.” Co Lam's eyes stopped on his face and suddenly darkened. He raised his hand and pushed Tong Can Nien's shoulder: "The matter between me and her is not yet the place for an outsider like you to intervene." "Now for me, you are an outsider." Tham Thanh Tu coldly looked at him, his voice without a hint of warmth. Co Lam was stunned. He still wanted to say something, but Tham Thanh Tu had already gotten into Tong Can Nien's car. Seeing that, Tong Can Nien also sat in the driver's seat, the car slowly left the parking spot. "Who is that person?" He asked very casually. "Ex-fiance." Tong Can Nien nodded, looked through the rearview mirror, saw Co Lam still standing in the same place, then looked back: "He doesn't look like he will give up easily." Tham Thanh Tu turned to face the window, the glass reflected the dim light bulbs in the Milan night. "That's his story. He and I ended a long time ago." Tong Can Nien did not say more. The car drove into the old yard under the apartment building, the streetlights scattered thick shadows of lemon tree branches. Tham Thanh Tu unfastened his seat belt but did not immediately get out of the car. "Professor Tong, I have something to tell you." He took out the car key and tilted his head to look at her. "My mother's health has recovered to almost stable." She spoke slowly, her fingers wrapped around the seat belt once and then released it. "In the future, I plan to move back to live with my parents. This time has bothered me."Tong Can Nien's hand holding the steering wheel paused. His body stiffened for two or three seconds, his shoulders tensed slightly, then slowly relaxed. "I don't come here often. Your parents can move in with us." "That's too troublesome." Tham Thanh Tu pushed the car door. “I'll be moving in a week.” Tong Can Nien did not get out of the car. The streetlight fell on top of his head, the lenses of his glasses reflected a spot of light, covering the emotions in his eyes. "It's up to you, whatever you feel is convenient, do so." That night, Tham Thanh Tu folded the clothes in the closet and stuffed them into the suitcase. The phone screen lit up, it was a text message from an unknown number. "I didn't come today to force you. I've booked a hotel in Milan, I'll stay for a while. When you're willing to talk to me, I'm always here." It was Co Lam again. Tham Thanh Tu held down that phone number and dragged it to the blacklist. But the next morning, she was blocked in front of the lecture hall's stairs. A female student in her class gave her a flat paper box, with a creamy white velvet surface, tied with a dark green ribbon. "Someone at the door asked me to pass it to you. It's a man, Chinese." Tham Thanh Tu took it and opened it a crack. Inside is lined with soft silk, a light gray silk scarf is neatly folded, with a very small camellia flower embroidered in the corner. Previously, when walking around with Co Lam, she looked twice longer in front of the glass cabinet and said that the weaving style of this brand is very special. She closed the lid of the box and handed it back to the female student. “Would you mind giving it back to me? Tell me I don't accept it.” The female student was a bit confused, holding the box and standing still: "But the person who sent the items has already left..." "Then just leave it there, someone will come pick it up." She pushed open the classroom door and walked in. In the evening after school, she went out from the north gate. Milan at the time of fall and winter gets dark very early. At five thirty, the street lights were still not fully lit, the narrow alley was covered in a dim gray color. When she reached the middle of the alley, ahead there was a figure walking out from the wall. Co Lam stopped there. Today he changed to a blue and black suit, without a tie at the collar. The rims of his eyes were red, as if he hadn't slept for many days. "Why are you hiding from me?" "Return everything, block the phone number. I stood at the school gate waiting for you, but you deliberately turned around to avoid me. Thanh Tu." The strength of his hand holding her arm suddenly tightened, his knuckles turned white
sick. “You won't even give me a chance to make up for it?” “I gave you the answer a long time ago.” Tham Thanh Tu lowered his eyes and looked at the hand squeezing his arm. "I don't believe it." Co Lam suddenly took a step closer. Her breath carried the smell of alcohol and tobacco smoke, so strong that she instinctively turned her head. His other hand held the back of her neck, bending down and forcing himself closer. Tham Thanh Tu couldn't avoid it in time, his lips were fiercely captured by him. The moment she realized the tip of his tongue invaded, she suddenly gritted her teeth, the fishy taste of blood immediately spread between their lips and teeth. Co Lam moaned softly but still refused to let go. The corner of his lip was bitten and torn, a drop of blood slid down his chin, spreading in dots on the collar of his dark shirt. The next second, a strong hand suddenly held Co Lam's shoulder and pulled him away. Co Lam's back hit the wall hard. After the sound of impact, a punch straight to his cheek caused his head to tilt completely to the side, his body sliding halfway along the wall. Tong Can Nien stood in front of him, her cold eyes piercing the bone. "What are you doing?" Co Lam held her painful and swollen cheek, stood up, and rubbed the injured cheek bone. Seeing clearly who was coming, he let out a cold laugh: "It's you again? It's not your turn to meddle in the private matter between me and her over and over again."
