Chapter 2
Chapter 2 — After Divorce, I Made Tra Nam Bankrupt
Co Trinh looked at the suitcase, then looked at my determined face. He finally realized I wasn't joking. The anger gradually receded, replaced by frustration and disbelief:
“Tu Nhien, please stop causing trouble.”
“I admit today I was wrong, I'm sorry, okay?”
"Tomorrow I'll buy you a bag, this matter is over, don't mention the word divorce again."
He thought a bag could erase all the damage, just like countless times before. Unfortunately, today I am no longer who I was before.
"No need."
I stood up, preparing to leave. Co Trinh immediately pulled me back:
“Where are you going tonight?”
“My story, it has nothing to do with you anymore.”
At that moment, his phone rang, the shrill sound echoed in the quiet living room. He looked at the screen, his expression changed slightly, then picked up the phone, his voice immediately calmed down: On the other end of the line, my mother-in-law's high-pitched voice rang out, even though I didn't turn on the speaker, I could still hear it clearly:
"Co Trinh! How are you and that girl? Is he still making trouble?"
“I told her, the Co family's daughter-in-law is not that kind of person who doesn't know any manners!”
"Tell him to go away and apologize to his mother! Otherwise, don't even step into the Co family's door again!"
Co Trinh looked at me awkwardly, then went to the balcony to answer the phone. I heard him lower his voice to comfort his mother, saying "she's just sulking", "tomorrow will be fine", "don't be angry". The last bit of concern in my heart was completely extinguished. This man, forever unable to distinguish between right and wrong, always only knows how to blame me for "not understanding things". I didn't hesitate anymore, pulled the suitcase and opened the door. Hearing the sound of the door opening, Co Trinh immediately turned around:
"Tu Nhien! Stop for me!"
I didn't reply. The moment I walked out the door, he turned to the phone and said loudly:
"Mom! Don't interfere anymore! I'll go find her right away!"
Then, from the other end of the phone, the mother-in-law's voice became even harsher:
"What are you looking for? Let him go! Leave him and I'll find a better child for you! Hua Vi is a hundred times better than him!"
I closed the door. Completely blocking out the sounds of the mother and daughter in the background. I temporarily rented a hotel room to stay. After taking a hot bath, the feeling of fatigue and gloom in my body seemed to be washed away. Early the next morning, I contacted my college senior, lawyer Chu. She is a famous divorce lawyer in the industry, having handled countless complex cases. I briefly told her the situation. On the other end of the line, lawyer Chu calmly asked a few key questions:
“Did you sign a property agreement before marriage?”
"Have." I replied. “I have a copy.”
That was the only thing I got for myself before marrying Co Trinh. At that time, the Co family was afraid that I was targeting their money, but I signed without hesitation. Now that I think about it, it's ironic.
"Very good." Lawyer Chu's voice sounded satisfied. "The house and car are all his pre-marital assets, we can't touch this part."
"What about common assets after marriage? For example, his income and investment profits?"
“I know the general idea, but not everything.”
"No problem." Lawyer Chu said. "I will request an asset investigation order from the court, all assets in his name will be clarified."
“Also, you just said he may have committed misconduct during kissing For example, the ambiguous relationship with Ms. Hua, is there any evidence?"
I thought for a moment:
“They were very careful, there was no direct evidence, but there were a lot of transfer records.”
Co Trinh often transferred money to Hua Vi, 5200, 13140, the amount was not large but the frequency was very high. The name is "lend", "help you in difficult times". I asked once, he just said that Hua Vi's family background was not good, just helping an old friend a little, and told me not to be so stingy.
“Retain all transfer history.” Lawyer Chu's voice was decisive. "In court, that could be seen as evidence that he had improper financial relationships with people of the opposite sex outside of marriage."
“Tu Nhien, you hear me clearly.” Her voice became serious. “From now on, don't have any personal contact with him or his family.”
“If they call, don't listen.”
“If you text, don't reply.”
“If they come to cause trouble, immediately report to the police.”
“Just leave everything to the lawyer to handle, understand?”
“Understood.” I felt my heart gradually stabilize. The power of professionalism certainly makes people feel secure.
After hanging up the phone, I sent all the documents I had prepared to lawyer Chu via email, including a scanned copy of the prenuptial property agreement and all photos of Co Trinh's money transfer history to Hua Vi. By the time I finished, it was already morning. I stayed up all night but didn't feel sleepy. In the afternoon, lawyer Chu's work efficiency was extremely fast, directly sending me a prepared divorce agreement. I forwarded it to Co Trinh, without any words attached. After sending the email, I turned off the phone, covered myself with the blanket and went to sleep. I don't know how long I slept, but I was woken up by the hotel doorbell. I thought it was room service so I didn't think much and went straight to open the door. The person standing outside was my mother-in-law, and someone I didn't expect. My father-in-law, Co Chinh Hoanh. He is the president of a listed company, usually serious and quiet, with an imposing manner. In the three years of marriage, I can count the number of times I've talked to him on one hand. I didn't expect him to come personally. As soon as she saw me, my mother-in-law wanted to rush over:
“Tu Nhien! You really don't know anything! Who gave you the courage to ask for a divorce from my son?
Co Chinh Hoanh coldly glanced at her:
“Shut up.”
My mother-in-law immediately fell silent, but still glared at me maliciously. Co Chinh Hoanh's eyes fell on me, carrying scrutiny and pressure:
“I have seen the agreement.”
He gets straight to the point:
“Co Trinh does not agree.”
I calmly replied:
“It doesn't matter whether he agrees or not, I will file a divorce lawsuit.”
“Initiate a lawsuit?” Co Chinh Hoanh burst out laughing as if hearing something funny. “Do you think the courthouse is your open house?”
“Tu Nhien, I advise you not to take things too far.”
“Whatever you want, you can negotiate.”
"Home? Car? Or money?”
He took out a check from his vest pocket and gently placed it on the cabinet next to the door:
“Here it is five hundred thousand.”
"Take the money, go back and live a good life with Co Trinh, today's incident will be as if it never happened."
His voice sounded like he was giving alms to a beggar, noble and noble, full of contempt. I looked at the check and laughed:
“Dad, maybe you misunderstood.”
“First, I didn't come to negotiate terms.”
“Second, it's not what I need money, but divorce.”
“Third, instead of standing here and using money to insult me, you should go back and check to see how much assets your son has after getting married.”
What I said made Co Chinh Hoang's face immediately darken. He probably didn't expect that someone like me who was always obedient in front of him would dare to talk to him with this attitude. The mother-in-law standing next to her couldn't bear it anymore:
“What do you mean? Do you still want to divide our property? Dream!”
“I tell you, Tu Nhien, you can't even get a penny!”
“You married into the Co family, ate from us, wore from us, now your wings are stiff and then come back to bite people?”
I'm too lazy to argue with her. I directly took out the printed pre-marital property agreement from behind the door, right in front of them, pointing to one clause.
“Look clearly.”
“The twelfth clause, written very clearly.”
“If the male party commits serious misconduct during the marriage, leading to the breakdown of the marital relationship…”
"Then the male party voluntarily gives up all common property after marriage, as spiritual compensation to the female party."
I raised my head and faced Co Chinh Hoanh's shocked eyes:
“Dad, tell me, is regularly transferring money in unreasonable large amounts to a single woman outside of marriage… considered a serious violation?”
