Chapter 11 — After Divorce, I Take Everything Back

There was no immediate response. Maybe she's busy. I put the phone away. Raise your head and look at the sky. A very large green space. It was as if for the first time… there was nothing pressing on anymore. In winter, the sky is so blue that it is transparent and clean without a single cloud. What should end, has ended. What should start… can start already. Saturday afternoon, I went alone to the furniture store. The rented room has been in the house for nearly two months and is still just a "temporary" place. Now it's time to get it back into shape. I chose a table lamp, a set of linen sheets, and a ceramic vase. While paying, the phone rang. That's not right... I've already blocked him.

“Lin Niem Shenh!”

His voice, change the call number.

"You forced my mother to sell my house! Are you satisfied?!"

“Tran Vu, the deposit for that apartment is mostly mine.”

"It's my mother for me! What does it have to do with you!"

"Your mother used my salary. The court has already decided, you have nothing to argue about."

His voice suddenly broke, no longer angry, but almost crazy.

"You ruined my life! Tinh Tinh broke up with me because of the bride price! My house is gone! How do you tell me how to live!"

"You live 26 years, with all your limbs. How you live is your business."

I hung up. Block that number too. The cashier looked at me.

“How do you pay?”

I paid, picked up my things and walked out. Hands are still steady. That night, I put a new table lamp on the head of the bed, laid out new sheets, and put two dried flowers in the vase. Stand at the door and look around. The room is more than forty square meters... finally has the look of "home". My house. I'm alone. Phone vibrates. Tri Thu texted back.

"Congratulations congratulations congratulations! When are you celebrating?"

“Are you free this weekend?”

“I invite you, you choose your seat.”

"I said I invite you. Don't win."

She sent an eye-rolling emoji.

“Okay, then I choose the most expensive place.”

I smiled lightly and put the phone down. Sitting on the new bed, leaning against the pillow, dazed for a moment. Think a lot. It's also possible... not to think at all. Turn off the lights. Sleep. That sleep... was very deep. Monday morning. As soon as I arrived at the company, the General Judge called.

“Nien Senh, come here.”

The door to his room was open.

"For next quarter's plan, I'll make a draft first. This afternoon I'll take you to meet someone."

"General Ton of Phuong Chinh Group. There is a new project, three times the scale of the previous one. Prepare."

That is more than thirty million. I didn't ask anymore, went back to my seat, turned on the phone. Two hours later, the draft was finished. At 2:30 p.m., we set off. Phuong Chinh Group headquarters is located in the south of the city, a thirty-two-story building. The elevator door opens. I see a familiar face. Trieu Thanh. He was standing in the hallway, talking to someone, when he saw us he walked over.

“General Tham, General Manager Lam.”

“Mr. Trieu.” General Tham shook hands.

Trieu Thanh looked at me.

"This project of Phuong Chinh was connected by me. Tong Ton is my university friend. After hearing her present the previous plan, he kept reminding me that he wanted to cooperate."

I was a bit surprised.

“Thank you for your help.”

"Nothing. The right person should work with the right person."

General Tham laughed.

"Brother Trieu was afraid that I would transfer Niem Senh to another project, so he quickly kept him."

Trieu Thanh also laughed.

“Half is a business decision, half… is personal opinion.”

Speaking of "personal ideas", he glanced at me and left very quickly. I did not respond. The meeting with the General Ton went smoothly. Presentation finished, Mr he nodded.

"Let's sign the framework next week. The person in charge of the project is General Manager Lam."

Leaving the building, it was already dark. General Tham goes first. Trieu Thanh and I went down to the parking lot together.

“General Manager Lam.”

“Mr. Trieu.”

"Congratulations. Two big projects in two months, there's probably no one in the company better than you."

"It's still early. Only when we finish it will we count."

“Call a car?”

He didn't offer to take me home. Just standing there, waiting for me to finish calling the car. I opened the door.

“Thank you for introducing the project.”

"Nothing. Next time you need any assistance from side A, just let me know."

"Good night."

"Good night."

Car door closed. The car drives away.
