Chapter 10
Chapter 10 — After Forgetting Your Husband
“Diep Tri Chi.”
“But I really don't miss you.”
I looked straight into his eyes and said every word: "When I woke up, I didn't have you in my head. People said you were my husband, I just felt cold." His lips moved. I pushed the deal a little further.
"Tham Duat Hanh, I didn't use my memory loss to take revenge on you. Thanks to my memory loss, I was able to truly survive and escape from your hands."
He seemed to be hit hard by that sentence, his whole body stiffened in the chair. The opposing lawyer whispered and reminded him to sign. He didn't move. I stood up: "Then go to court." Tham Duat Hanh suddenly grabbed my wrist. His palm was very hot, the force was so strong that it made my wound ache. Reflexively, I yanked my hand away. Seeing my actions, his eyes broke.
“You wouldn't have avoided me before.”
I rubbed my wrist: "I was stupid before." His face was white. Tong Chieu stood in front of me: "If you move your hands or feet again, I'll call the police." Tham Duat Hanh retracted his hand and lowered his voice: "Where's Tue Tue? Won't she even take a look at me?"
“It's afraid of you.”
“I am his father.”
"I'm the father who didn't answer the phone when he had a high fever, the father who went to serve Ha Tuyen on his birthday, the father who asked who allowed him to take videos when he was trying to protect his mother."
I said one sentence, and his face faded a bit. Finally, he bowed his head, his elbows on his knees, his knuckles on his forehead. A long time later, he said: “I didn't know she remembered so clearly.” I stared at him.
“Children are not idiots.”
His voice was very small: "I thought she was still young."
“So you think it doesn't feel pain?”
He did not answer. After the failed mediation, I walked out of the Civil Affairs Department. The sunlight was bright, and there were a few media reporters under the steps. They probably smelled the news online and came looking for it. Tham Duat Hanh walked a few paces behind me. Someone raised the phone and asked: "Mr. Tham, is it true that you were with another woman when your child had a high fever?" Someone asked: "What is the relationship between you and Ms. Ha Tuyen?" Tham Duat Hanh, always proud and elegant, is now stuck on the steps, his face pale. He wanted to leave, but the reporters still clung to him. I was about to get in the car, but I heard him speak for the first time in front of the camera.
“It's my fault.”
The crowd was quiet for a moment. His voice was hoarse: "I'm sorry to my wife, I'm also sorry to my daughter." If it were me before, I probably would have stopped because of this statement. But now, I just feel tired. I bent down and sat in the car. Before closing the door, I heard him call out:
“Tri Chi.”
I didn't turn back. The car window raised, completely blocking his voice from outside. 【Chapter 8】 While preparing for the lawsuit, I began to regain my old life little by little. Tong Chieu told me that I used to be an illustrator, drawing covers for several children's comic books, but after getting married and pregnant, I took on fewer and fewer projects. My computer is at the Tham family's house. Tham Duat Hanh refused to send someone to bring it. He said there were company documents inside, Not convenient to take out. After listening, Tong Chieu decided to directly apply for urgent measures to preserve assets and evidence. But I don't wait. I took Tue Tue to the Tham family's house. It's not about being sneaky. I called Tong Chieu, called a locksmith, and also notified the ward conciliator in advance. When the door to the Tham family villa opened, her mother-in-law was standing in the living room, her face unsightly as if she had just swallowed a fly.
“Do you still dare to show your face here?”
