Chapter 6
Chapter 6 — After Reporting Card Blocking, Husband's Whole Family Went Crazy
“Pre-marital assets, with clear proof of money source by release contract.”
"The intended use is clearly proven by your brother's medical diagnosis and surgery cost estimate."
"Your mother-in-law arbitrarily transferred money without permission, and also intended to spend that money. The value involved is extremely large, enough to constitute the crime of theft."
“And your husband…”
"After knowing what happened, not only did he not ask to return the money, but he also tried to cover up and blame you."
“In essence, he could be considered an accomplice.”
Every sentence she said was like a sedative. Slowly pulling my chaotic mind back to a state of clarity.
“Hold all the evidence carefully.”
“Bank statement.”
“Diagnosis certificate.”
“Recording the call between you and your mother-in-law.”
“Even the call between you and your husband.”
I stopped.
“Your phone has an automatic call recording mode. I installed it for you last year.”
I immediately turned on my phone to check. The two recordings remain intact in the device. One part is a short but decisive call with her mother-in-law. One part is a critical argument with Truong Vi. Not a single word is missing. The mother-in-law freely admitted that she "touched the card" and "used the money to buy Tieu Thien's dowry". Truong Vi asked me personally "why did he block the card" and "made his mother lose face". The evidence is so complete that it cannot be denied.
“What are you going to do next?”
Best friend asked.
“I want them to give back every penny.”
“I want them to pay.”
My voice was so cold that even I felt strange.
“There are many types of bids.”
My friend spoke slowly.
“Putting them in jail is the most direct way, but it will take a lot of time.”
“And with your brother's condition…”
“Time is the most precious thing.”
I was silent for a few seconds.
“What do you mean?”
“Do it in two parallel directions.”
"One side prepares all documents, tomorrow morning immediately report to the economic investigation team to create the greatest legal pressure."
“The other side…”
“It's a negotiation.”
“Once a case is filed, they will become suspects.”
“The initiative is completely in your hands.”
“The ultimate goal of negotiation is not forgiveness.”
“It's about getting the money back as quickly as possible.”
“After getting my money back…”
“Do you want to withdraw the application, teach them a lesson, or continue to let the law handle it…”
“The decision is all up to you.”
I got it. First, use the law straight at their throats. Then we talk about money.
“Let's do that.”
After hanging up, I began to organize all the evidence on the phone. That night I didn't sleep. By morning, my eyes were bloodshot and red. But my mind is alert like never before. I resigned from the company. Then take a taxi and go straight to the city's economic crime investigation team. Submit documents. Take testimony. Prepare case files. Everything went more smoothly than I thought. The police officer in charge, after reviewing all the evidence and listening to my story, looked at me with some sympathy.
“Miss Tran, you can rest assured.”
"The details of this case are clear, the chain of evidence is complete."
“We will immediately conduct an investigation.”
When I walked out of the police station, the sunlight outside was so bright that it hurt my eyes. I squinted my eyes slightly. For the first time, I felt the rock pressing down on my heart... Finally, a crack was pried open. I was just about to call a car to the hospital visit mother. The phone suddenly rang. It's a strange number. I pressed listen.
“Excuse me, is that Tran Van?”
“I am Ly Hao's mother.”
She is the "rich" fiance that Truong Thien always brags about. Ly Hao's mother's voice was very polite. But in that politeness, the feeling of distance and arrogance of the person in a higher position is clearly revealed.
“Miss Tran, I want to meet you a bit to talk about the marriage between Truong Thien and my son.”
I was a bit surprised. But I quickly understood. The Truong family was definitely at the end of their rope, so they started asking for help from their in-laws.
“Time and place, you choose.”
“In half an hour, Starbucks is in the downtown square.”
