Chapter 10
Chapter 10 — After the Rain, Nam Son Still Has the Fragrance of Medicine
Duong Tue impatiently unfastened his seat belt.
"Okay, if you want to go then go, but let's go together. You can't be a hero anymore. If you dare leave me behind, I will break ties with you."
“Everyone just follow outside the hotel, don't go in.”
Duong Tue immediately became angry.
“Listen to yourself and see if what you just said sounds like a human voice?”
Uncle Trieu also did not agree.
"Miss Gian, the old banquet hall doesn't have surveillance cameras. Cam Hoa Hotel was just repaired a few days ago, it's full of workers going in and out, it's also the place where things are most likely to happen."
I looked straight ahead.
“That's why they chose that place.”
Duong Tue gritted his teeth.
“Then call the police.”
"The bag containing the needle is in their hands. If they report it to the police, they will destroy it."
“So what are you going to do?”
I gave the phone to Uncle Trieu.
“Bao Co Nghien Tri took Tham Nhuoc Lan to the hotel.”
Duong Tue was stunned.
“At this point, are you still waiting for Co Nghien Tri?”
“There is no expectation.” I said. "Tham Nhuoc Lan is holding the needle bag, and the other side forced me to come alone. That proves that the person holding the bag and the person who wants to take the bag are not in the same place. I want those two sides to face each other."
Uncle Trieu immediately understood.
“Let them destroy each other first.”
I nodded. Duong Tue looked at me.
"Before, at Co's house, you pretended to be as obedient as a lamb, but it turns out your fangs and claws were all hidden."
I don't laugh.
“My mother used to teach me that when inserting a needle, your hand must be steady.”
“The more it hurts... the more you don't tremble.”
The old banquet hall of Cam Hoa hotel is located on basement B1. The front door was filled with wooden panels that had just been taken down. On the wall there are still red letters of Joy from the engagement ceremony that day, not yet peeled off. The light bulbs were broken, making the entire hallway half-light and half-dark. I walked in alone. As soon as he entered the banquet hall, the door behind him was closed. Tham Nhuoc Lan stood at the edge of the stage, clutching an old cloth bag in her hand. The bag was dark blue, the corners were white with wear, and the button on the silver pin holder was also missing one. I stopped.
“Give it to me.”
Tham Nhuoc Lan stepped back.
"Sister Thanh Thanh, I don't want that either. Someone is forcing me."
“Who forced you to take it from the break room?”
Tham Nhuoc Lan cried and shook her head.
"I really just picked it up. That day was so chaotic, I saw it fall under the chair, thought it was yours so I decided to keep it for you."
“The way you keep things for me... is to hide it first, then wait for someone else to claim it?”
Tham Nhuoc Lan was speechless. From behind the curtain, a man stepped out. He was in his forties, wearing an old suit, his face covered with fatigue from many years of staying up late. Uncle Trieu once mentioned this person. He is the former manager of the Co family's pharmacy. My name is Chu Hoai Le. Chu Hoai Le stared at me.
“Miss Gian, don't make things difficult for a pregnant woman.”
“What I want is the seal in that bag.”
I looked at him.
“You know who I am.”
Chu Hoai Le smiled.
“Daughter of the Gian family, daughter of Lam Thanh Hoa.”
"Lam Thanh Hoa hid the seal for more than twenty years, and refused to hand it over until his death."
“It also seems like she has bones.”
My eyes stopped on his face.
“What happened to my mother... is also your part?”
Tham Nhuoc Lan quickly said:
“Not him, nor me. Sis Thanh Thanh, aunt's matter really has nothing to do with you."
Chu Hoai Le glanced at her.
“Miss Tham, don't be so quick to say so for sure.”
"Whoever transferred that phone call that day, she knew in her heart."
Tham Nhuoc Lan's face turned pale.
“I didn't know he wanted to hurt people.”
"He only told the hospital to wait for the Co family to confirm, and also said Gian Thanh would use this to blackmail the Co family."
I step closer step by step.
“So that phone call... was transferred by you.”
Tham Nhuoc Lan cried and said:
“I just changed the phone. Those words were not what I said.”
Chu Hoai Le lost patience.
“Yes, you didn't say.”
“You just transfer the call to the hospital, and my people talk.”
"She took benefits from Mrs. Co, wanting to make Gian Thanh unable to raise her head at the Co family's house."
“Why are you still pretending to be innocent now?”
Tham Nhuoc Lan shouted.
“You talk nonsense!”
I looked at her.
“What did Grandma Co give you?”
Tham Nhuoc Lan's lips trembled several times but could not speak. Chu Hoai Le answered for her.
“The deposit to buy a house... and the position of the future daughter-in-law of the Co family.”
"She thought that as long as Lam Thanh Hoa did not die, Gian Thanh would at most lose face."
"Who would have thought... the old woman would be so ill-fated."
I raised my hand and slapped Tham Nhuoc Lan. Tham Nhuoc Lan fell down onto the stage steps, and the needle bag also fell to the ground. Chu Hoai Le bent down to pick it up. The banquet hall door was kicked open. Duong Tue rushed in, holding the phone high in his hand.
“It's all being recorded! Keep talking!”
Chu Hoai Le's face immediately darkened.
“Who let you in here?”
Uncle Trieu led two people in and followed her. Co Nghien Tri also arrived, and behind him were Co's mother and Tran Thieu. As soon as she saw Chu Hoai Le, Co's mother immediately cringed. Co Nghien Tri stared at Tham Nhuoc Lan.
“You received money from my mother?”
Tham Nhuoc Lan covered her face and rushed towards him.
“Nghien Tri, I was forced. Uncle said Gian Thanh is not worthy of you. If you disrupt the engagement ceremony, you will see that her family only knows how to pull your leg."
Mother Co was frantic.
“Don't blame it on me! I just told you to come cry for a few words, who told you to get the needle bag, who told you to transfer the call to the hospital?”
I bent down, picked up the needle bag, and gently brushed off the dust on it. Chu Hoai Le raised his hand to stop.
“Leave a seal.”
Uncle Trieu stood in front of me.
“Chu Hoai Le, you stole the Lam family's seal, and now you dare to blatantly rob it right in front of everyone?”
