Chapter 15
Chapter 15 — After Winning 4.8 Million Yuan, I Realized Home Is A Place To Return To
One person looked at Chu Khai and asked:
"After Hua An Nhien quit, why did the new version of the Van Khe project stop?"
Chu Khai replied lightly:
"It's an internal arrangement."
The other colleague did not shy away.
"Because no one can take over. You make us edit according to the old manuscript but don't allow contact with the original creator."
All the surrounding visitors could hear it. La Thien still tried to stay calm.
"If the company lacks one employee, it will still operate normally."
Former colleagues nodded.
"Of course it still works. But of the four projects you recorded in your personal profile, three of them must be deleted."
By the end of the opening day, the two customers who had postponed cooperation decided to restart the project on the spot. In addition, three other companies proactively offered to arrange a meeting. I don't use bonuses to buy trust. I just took every single thing I ever did and placed it neatly under my own name.
"Your father received 200,000 yuan from the company, so those old colleagues came forward to testify for you."
One day before the final evaluation round, Zhou Kai projected a photo of the transfer onto the big screen in the hall. The recipient's name was mostly covered up, revealing only the word Hua. In the hall were project representatives, participating teams and more than ten people attending. Chu Khai says:
"We received a complaint that Hua An Nhien used a large bonus to interfere with the fairness of the selection."
"Where's the full photo?"
"Regarding the privacy of the whistleblower."
"So what do you rely on to prove that the recipient is my father?"
La Thien stood up.
"Trinh Man said it himself."
A voice suddenly sounded outside the door.
"I never said that."
Trinh Man walked into the hall, holding her bank statement in her hand.
"That 200,000 yuan was money my mother transferred to me for a deposit to buy a house. She just sold a store."
Chu Khai's face immediately darkened.
"You didn't say that yesterday."
"Yesterday you only asked if there was a transaction of 200,000 yuan in my house. You didn't ask who transferred it to whom."
La Thien walked straight in front of her.
"Are you helping Hua An Nhien now because you want her to lend you money?"
"She won't lend me a loan."
"So what are you doing here?"
Trinh Man looked at me and said in a low voice:
"The wrong things I've done are too many. I don't want to continue doing one more thing for you guys."
She placed the full photo in front of the organizers. The main recipient of the money was Trinh Man, completely unrelated to my father. The person in charge of the project looked at Chu Khai, his face turned cold.
"Have you verified it yet?"
"The denunciation documents came too quickly, we only raised suspicions."
I opened my bank account confirmation.
"After the bonus was transferred to my account, I used it to buy three normal apartments. One to live in, the other two borrowed from the bank and then rented out. The remaining money and the studio account are completely separate."
A few voices immediately rang out below. La Thien immediately grabbed a sentence.
"She finally admitted to using the bonus money to support the company."
Lam Thu projected all of the studio's books onto the screen.
"The registered capital comes from the money An Nhien saved during six years of working. Current project revenue is already enough to cover three months' expenses. She only provides a place to work and does not collect rent."
Tran Phong continued to put the entire salary history on the screen.
"We weren't paid by her to come testify. We are partners."
Chu Khai asked:
"What about your old colleagues?"
Five former colleagues simultaneously stood up from the audience area.
"We don't accept money."
"We came here because our own achievements were also renamed."
"Hua An Nhien was the first person who dared to tell the truth, thanks to that we had the courage to speak up."
The person in charge of the project turned to look at Chu Khai.
"The outstanding projects your company has submitted need to be checked against the main creator list."
Chu Khai finally couldn't sit still.
"This has nothing to do with today's evaluation."
"Of course it's relevant. You constantly use the company's scale to prove your capabilities, but you cannot prove that those core achievements are performed by the current team."
I walked up to the presentation podium.
"Three houses cannot represent my abilities. Having won a prize doesn't make my plan any better."
"Today I stand here, only using my own work to speak."
Dad sat in the last row, still wearing his old, washed-out jacket. This time, I no longer worry about how others will see him, nor am I afraid that he will slip up. He is my father. It's not my background that I need to hide. The evaluation session continued. After I finished presenting the last page, no one asked another question about the bonus. The person in charge announced that our group won the top position in overall score and officially received the status to implement the project. When the applause rang out, Chu Khai was still staring at the transfer photo that was proven to be fake. La Thien stood next to him, taking a step away for the first time.
"Hua An Nhien, let's talk for a moment."
After the evaluation session ended, Chu Khai stopped me right in front of the auditorium door.
"There's nothing left to say between us."
