Chapter 8
Chapter 8 — An Luong Doesn't Choose a Female
The small boat Chuc Tam Nuong brought could save people, but could not carry six thousand bags of food. There are more and more victims of people outside the city every day. If wages stop for two more days, three warehouses will not be able to withstand it. Father came again. He did not enter the door, just stood outside the palace guard passing on a sentence.
“Go to the Tiet family to admit your mistakes, put down the matter of investigating broken salaries, and the boat will naturally run.”
I ordered Dao Chi to answer in four words.
“Tell him to dream.”
When returning, Dao Chi still seemed regretful.
“The slave originally wanted to say eight words, but the guard chief said the last four words were difficult to hear.”
I turned over the old loan overnight. By morning, eighteen large boats were finally found. Three years ago, the Tiet family owed Luong Dao 20,000 bags of salary and used these eighteen boats as security. The debt has not been paid yet, and my father always refuses to let Luong Dao collect the boat. I smashed the loan contract on the counter of the Tiet family's cruise ship.
“The debt is due.”
“Collect the boat today.”
The manager of the Tiet family held the boat book and refused to let go.
“For the past three years, the Tiet family has been raising boats!”
“The money for raising the boat has been recorded in the salary debt.”
“Just taking the boat to pay off the debt and forcing us to pay for the boat's repair, does the Tiet family want to sell the same boat twice?”
May Tam Nuong lead the boatman to push the back door open. Eighteen large boats were neatly parked on the river surface. She jumped on the biggest one and went around.
“The bottom of the boat is good, the sails are also new.”
“It's just that the driver is a bit poor.”
I threw the team's cards to her.
“Then change to someone else.”
The dock immediately became chaotic. The manager of the Tiet family pointed to Chuc Tam Nuong.
“Let one woman manage eighteen large boats, do you want to sink all the wages into the river?”
“There are more waterways she has ever walked than you have ever walked through.”
“If you're not convinced, compete with her.”
The other person looked at the long oar in Chuc Tam Nuong's hand, not daring to accept the invitation. The boat was taken back, but half of the old crew left on the spot.
“We signed a ten-year contract with the Tiet family.”
“Whoever drives the boat for Miss Qin, your family should not expect to earn a living at the southern wharf in the future.”
Someone threw the boat card on the ground. There are also people who can't bear to quit their jobs and hide in the cabin and don't dare to come out. Chuc Tam Nuong picked up the boat card and shouted towards the shore.
“If you know how to drive then stay, if you don't know then get out.”
“The Tiet family can seal a wharf, but can't seal a whole river.”
Of the last twenty-nine people remaining, there were twelve women. A sixteen-year-old girl named Thach Luu, who usually only cooks for her father, has never been allowed to touch the steering wheel. I wish Tam Nuong let her try it out. When the boat turns around, it is steadier than an old sailor. Her father stood on the shore and scolded:
“If a girl shows her face in public, who will dare to marry her in the future!”
Thach Luu's hands trembled, the boat's bow almost crashed into the shore. I stand on the gangplank.
“Whose name is the money for this trip recorded under?”
“Her father.”
Ton Bo replied as he flipped through the old book.
“It was always like that before.”
“Changed the name to Thach Pomegranate.”
I publicly added her name to the boat contract.
“Whoever drives the wheel, money will be returned to that person.”
Thach Luu looked at those two words and his eyes suddenly turned red. Her father was about to scold her, but Chuc Tam Nuong used an oar to push her down the gangway.
“Wait until your daughter returns with her salary and then ask her if she still wants to get married.”
Laughter on the dock transmitted to the other shore. That afternoon, six thousand sacks of wages began to be loaded onto the boat. The elder sister sent someone to deliver a family letter. On paper there is only one sentence:
“Mother is vomiting blood, come back quickly.”
I tightened the letter and immediately ordered someone to prepare the horse. Even though our mother is biased, she is still the one who gave birth to us and raised us. I can't take your life and bet on whether the elder sister is lying or not. As soon as the general seal was put in the box, the comments were crowded before my eyes. 【Don't come back! Lady Qin was only infected with wind and cold, and did not vomit blood at all!】 【Tin Thanh Nguyet deliberately tricked the female lead into leaving. Tonight, she will use the old key that Tan Thu Le secretly used when managing the salary to open the side door of the Nam warehouse for the Tiet family. Eighteen food boats rushed into the fast water, not a single person on board survived!】 I turned around and placed the total seal back on the table.
"Dao Chi, take my card and invite the doctor to the Tan family."
"Tell mother, if you're really vomiting blood, take it to the temple. I'll invite a doctor for you."
Dao Chi accepted the card.
“What if the lady refuses to come?”
“So it proves you can't die.”
Chuc Tam Nuong heard someone was about to attack the boat and immediately rolled up her sleeves.
"I'll lead someone to guard the wharf."
“No.”
I looked at eighteen boats loaded with food.
“Just turn off the lights as usual, so they think I'm gone.”
“We won't open the warehouse tonight, nor will we force anyone to open the door.”
“Wait for everyone from the Tiet family to come in.”
12
That night, at the third watch of the Nam Kho side door, there was a sound. An old key from outside was inserted into the lock. The elder sister held the lamp and pushed the door open herself. This key has never been recorded in the morality book. During the years when his father was in charge of the house, he secretly added another key behind his grandmother's back. She was still wearing pure white clothes, the hood of her cloak was pulled very low. But behind were more than twenty employees of the Tiet family. The leader took the lead and clasped his hands with her.
“Don't worry, big lady.”
“We just take back the Tiet family's salary and teach Miss Qin a lesson.”
The elder sister gave him the lamp.
“Don't hurt anyone.”
"I just want the Queen Mother to know that she left a group of boats in charge of the ship, and she simply can't handle the morals."
The manager smiled and replied yes. More than ten people went to the warehouse to transfer wages, a few others went straight to the dock. What was in their hands was not sackcloth. It's a curved blade used to cut anchor ropes. As soon as the first slash fell, the lights on all four sides lit up simultaneously. Chuc Tam Nuong rushed out from behind the sack of food, an oar knocked the knife into the water.
“Using the old lady's boat to help your young lady earn the title of princess, have you asked the old lady yet?”
The Tiet family member turned around and tried to run. The warehouse door was blocked by royal guards. The elder sister stood by the door, the lamp in her hand fell to the ground.
“Minh Chau?”
“Doesn't mother vomit blood?”
“Are you very disappointed?”
Her face was pale.
“I just want you to come back and visit her.”
“I didn't know they carried swords!”
The dock suddenly made a loud noise. The outermost mooring line has been severed. The big boat was pushed sideways by the strong current and was crashing into the food boats behind. On the boat there are six auxiliary boats on duty at night. Chuc Tam Nuong grabbed the rope and was about to jump into the water. I rushed forward and hugged my waist tightly her.
“You are crazy!”
“If you don't pull the boat back, the seventeen boats behind will all collide!”
She put another end of the rope in my hand.
“Do you know how to tie knots?”
“I know!”
We stepped on the slippery wooden planks and ran to the shore. The rope cut his palm and drew blood, and the three boatswains turned the steering wheel at the same time. The bow of the boat grazed the rocky shore, broke half of the railing, and finally stopped. People who fell into the water were also picked up. Chuc Tam Nuong lay prone on the ground, took a few breaths, and as soon as she got up, she kicked the manager of the Tiet family.
“Is this what you call not hurting anyone?”
The manager was pinned to the ground by the guards and shouted decisively at the elder sister:
“Eldest lady, you promised Old Master Tiet!”
"As long as Tan Minh Chau's fortunes fail, he will appear and ask the Queen Mother to revoke the general seal."
“The Tiet family helped you pray for the title of Thanh Ninh district lord, and you also agreed to hand over four warehouses in the south to us!”
The elder sister kept backing away.
“You talk nonsense.”
“I only agreed to let Minh Chau learn a lesson, I never said I would hand over four warehouses to you!”
The manager pulled out an envelope from his chest.
“White paper, black ink, and your personal seal!”
I bent down and picked it up. The letter was written very clearly. Tiet family helped the eldest sister to be granted the title of district lord. The elder sister will use the name of opening a women's school and advise the Queen Mother to hand over four warehouses of salary to Tiet's housekeeper. At the bottom is a crescent-shaped seal. I've seen it before. Every painting of the elder sister has that seal on it. She suddenly rushed forward to steal the letter.
“Give me back!”
I leaned to avoid it. Her foot slipped and she fell down into the wet mud. This is the first time I've seen her white dress so dirty. But she no longer paid attention.
“I don't do these things for myself.”
"Only with the status of a princess, I can open a women's school, and make the world value women's reading!"
Bless Tam Nuong who is bandaging the injured co-pilot's arm. Hearing that sentence, she raised her head.
“Because of women?”
“So do the lives of the people on our boat count as women's lives?”
The elder opened his lips. Can't even say half a word.
