Chapter 2
Chapter 2 — At the Longevity Party That Day, I Took a Fake Thien Kim Mask
Old Lady Tham slowly walked forward with her cane. After hearing the story clearly, she narrowed her eyes slightly.
“Canh Ngoc Le, right?”
“I've heard Du Nhi mention you several times.”
"Uyen Nhi is dignified, generous, and doesn't care about you. Yet you still get asked by the elephant time and time again, without knowing where to stop. Then don't blame me for being impolite."
Hearing the threat in her words, I couldn't help but laugh and asked:
“Not polite?”
"In the past, this marriage was originally brought about by the Tham family's insatiable greed and boldness in begging."
“Now you have the audacity to say you won't be polite to me?”
Unexpectedly, I didn't spare her any face. Old Lady Tham immediately shouted:
"How dare an orphan with a low status like you dare to come and ruin my old man's birthday party?"
"Where's the guard? Don't you hurry up and chase this troublemaker out!"
Seeing that the guards were about to rush in, I still leisurely spoke up:
"The Marquis of Uy Vien Palace is protected by divine grace. My maternal grandfather was even the one who received the saint's face without having to kneel and prostrate."
"Today, whoever dares to touch me, I will make that person no longer have a place to live in this capital."
"And those who arbitrarily follow along and slander me to harm me, before opening their mouths, you should also consider for yourself, standing in front of the Uy Vien Marquis palace, what exactly are you!"
Seeing that I spoke firmly, everyone present began to hesitate. Old Mrs. Tham took her walking stick and slammed it on the ground, her face turned red with anger, but in the end she still didn't dare to actually send someone to kick me out.
“Hurry up and call Du Nhi here.”
“That year, he met his fiancee at the Marquis of Uy Vien Palace.”
“I want to see how many sentences this damn girl can tell the truth!”
As soon as the word passed down, Tham Du An soon rushed over. Everyone's eyes fell on Tham Du An. Understanding everything, he pulled me aside and lowered his voice:
“Canh Ngoc Le, why are you still causing trouble here?”
“Do you know how awkward it will be for Uyen Nhi to do that?”
Looking at the disgust evident on Tham Du An's face, I suddenly burst out laughing. In my previous life, the reason why Tan Tu Uyen was able to successfully impersonate my identity in front of everyone was absolutely indispensable without the help of Tham Du An. Many years ago, the old man of the Tham family helped my grandfather once. Based on that kindness, the Tham family forced the Uy Vien Marquis to establish a marriage contract between me and Tham Du An. However, on the surface, Tham Du An is my fiance, but behind his back he always takes Tan Tu Uyen to attend banquets and gatherings of the nobility in the capital, and constantly expresses his feelings for her. It was their intentional guidance that made many people mistakenly believe that Tan Tu Uyen was his real fiancee. In his previous life, he tolerated Tan Tu Uyen's accusations of harming me time and time again. Now that something had just happened, he couldn't wait to stand up and defend her. I forcefully pushed his hand away and coldly questioned:
“So why do you tacitly admit time and time again that she is the eldest lady of the Marquis of Uy Vien palace?”
“If it weren't for your tolerance, where would she get leaves? How dare you stand in front of so many people here and say that I am the one who was picked up as an orphan?
"You're only worried about her losing face, so why don't you think about how unfair it would be if someone else slandered me?"
“Tham Du An, I advise you to think carefully.”
"Or obediently state the true identities of me and Tan Tu Uyen in front of everyone."
“Or our marriage is hereby annulled!”
Seeing that Tham Du An was slow and refused to speak, Mrs. Tham could not help but urged:
“Du Nhi, why are you still talking nonsense to him?”
"You guys have had an engagement since childhood, don't even your fiancees realize it?"
Tan Tu Uyen also stepped forward, gently held Tham Du An's hand, and said understandingly and rationally:
“It's okay, A Du.”
“Ngoc Le is stubborn like that, just follow my sister's wishes. It's just a few words of gossip from others, I can't bear it."
A sad look flashed in Tham Du An's eyes, then without hesitation he held Tan Tu Uyen's hand tightly and said softly:
“Uyen Nhi, what did you say?”
"You are the one I have in my heart, how can I not help you and instead help someone else?"
