Chapter 15 — Changed the entire Inheritance Lineage to Choose the Wolf King

Three days after retrieving the pages from Tieu Yen's notebook, Thiet Phong noticed a disturbing change in her demeanor — not the panic he feared, but a much more subtle, silent vigilance.

Tieu Yen began to inspect the warehouse more carefully every time he visited, and he noticed that she had changed the locks again, this time more complicated. She also seemed unusually closer to Thiet Phong, often finding excuses to talk, her eyes always searching as if trying to find some sign of instability in him.

"Second brother told his sister that he often goes out for walks alone at night lately," Tieu Yen said one evening, her voice was light as if she were chatting normally, but her eyes discreetly observed his reaction. "Do you often visit the back garden? I heard that there have been wild weasels destroying the vegetable beds in that area recently, and the patriarch is planning to have someone clean it up."

Thiet Phong kept a calm expression and responded indifferently. "I occasionally go for a walk to clear my head, but I don't pay attention to garden things." But as soon as Tieu Yen turned to walk away, he clearly felt the tension pent up in every muscle in his body.

"She's suspicious," Thiet Phong whispered to himself after that tense evening, when Tieu Yen asked him a few seemingly harmless questions that focused on whether he had visited the back garden recently. He answered calmly, but knew in his heart that he needed to act faster before she could determine exactly who had broken into his secret vault.

At the same time, at Moonlight City, the investigation into Wang Bach Yi finally achieved an important breakthrough.

Chu Dinh Vu, after many nights of ambushing people, finally caught the moment when Uong Bach Nghi was about to deliver a small piece of paper to an unknown messenger at a remote inn on the edge of the citadel. Dinh Vu's ambush team arrived at the right moment, arresting both men before they could react.

"I have the evidence, your highness," Dinh Vu reported, placing on the table a small piece of paper folded into a triangle along with a small cloth bag containing a few drops of amber essential oil that the soldiers found in Uong Bach Nghi's luggage when searching his residence.

Dich Bach Duong carefully opened the piece of paper, skimmed through the content, his face gradually became serious. “This is a letter written in code, but I can recognize a few familiar key words from ancient documents on espionage — it is reporting on the ‘progress of sowing seeds of doubt’ and asking for ‘further instructions’. Someone far away is directly controlling this person's actions.”

Yen Chi picked up the small cloth bag, brought it close to her nose to smell it, and immediately, a terrifyingly familiar feeling rushed back - it was the strange sweet scent, hidden a little spicy underneath, that she had smelled around Tieu Yen countless times.

"This is it," she said, her voice shaking with both emotion and indignation. "This is exactly the scent I've been smelling for nearly a year."

Dich Bach Duong immediately took one of the three Moonstones, burned them according to the ancient method recorded in the book, and then shone silver light from the stone onto the cloth bag. Under that special light, a layer of faint residue, almost invisible under normal light, appeared clearly on the surface of the fabric - exactly as the ancient book described the traces of Huyen Huong.

"This is the first scientific evidence we have," Dich Bach Duong said, his voice filled with both excitement and seriousness. "We have proven the true existence of this perfume, and its direct connection to the detained man."

"So let's interrogate him now," Lang Phong said, his voice determined.

But when Uong Bach Nghi was brought into the interrogation room, he proved surprisingly stubborn, steadfastly denying all accusations even though the evidence was clear before his eyes.

"I'm just an ordinary medicinal herb merchant," he insisted, though the tremble in his voice betrayed the true fear within. "That essential oil bag is just a sample of the product I plan to introduce to customers. I don't know anything about what you are accusing."

"What about the coded letter in your body?" Dinh Vu growled and placed the piece of paper in front of him. "How are you going to explain it?"

Uong Bach Nghi was silent, sweat beaded on his forehead, but still refused to reveal anything specific. "I don't know what you're talking about. Maybe someone deliberately set a trap for me."

That stubbornness caused the interrogation to last until late at night without any significant progress. He was clearly well-trained to withstand conventional interrogation methods, perhaps mentally prepared for this situation of arrest.

"We will not coerce him into confession by force," Lang Phong decided, although anger was evident on his face. "But I will keep him here, under close supervision, until we find more evidence to force him to tell the truth."

"I will also let people continue to investigate his contact network," Dinh Vu added. "If he sent one letter, there must have been many more letters sent before that. Maybe we can trace them through the messengers who have been in contact with him."

Yen Chi stood silently watching Uong Bach Nghi being escorted out of the interrogation room, feeling both relieved because she had gone one step further and worried because she knew that this was just a small link in a much larger network of plots that she had not yet fully seen.

Meanwhile, in the Storm Wolf Clan, Thiet Phong, unaware of the developments in Bach Lang, decided he could wait no longer. That night, he quietly followed Tieu Yen again, and this time, he discovered that she was preparing to leave the palace for another appointment — seemingly more urgent than usual, based on the unusual haste in her movements.

He decided to follow, keeping as far away as possible while still not losing sight of him, his heart pounding because he knew that if he was discovered this time, all his efforts to quietly investigate over the past several weeks could be meaningless — or worse, could put his own life in danger.

She led him to a clearing nearly two miles from the patriarch's palace, where another strange figure — not Uong Bach Nghi, but a newcomer — was already waiting. Thiet Phong hid behind a dense bush, trying to listen to the conversation between the two people.

"...can't wait any longer," he heard Tieu Yen's voice, colder and more determined than ever. "It's time to execute the final plan. I need a crime serious enough to destroy that girl forever — treason, colluding with hostile forces, anything that Bach Lang cannot forgive."

Thiet Phong suffocated behind the bush, his heart beating rapidly. He had just heard, with his own ears, part of the cruel plot that Tieu Yen was preparing to carry out — a plot that was aimed not only at his family, but directly at Yen Chi's life.

The strange man replied something in a low voice that Thiet Phong couldn't fully hear, but he caught a few fragmentary words — "fake documents", "stamp", "last shipment". Obviously, this is not a spontaneous plan, but a plot that has been carefully prepared in advance, just waiting for the right time to execute.

"I want everything to be ready within the next month," Tieu Yen said, her voice decisive and without hesitation. "There must be no further delay. The longer that girl stays in Bach Lang, the more difficult it will be to overthrow her."

The conversation ended quickly after that, the strange man disappeared into the darkness in another direction, and Tieu Yen returned to the patriarch's palace with a leisurely look as if she had just taken a normal walk. Thiet Phong lay still behind the bush for a while longer, waiting until he was sure there was no one else around before daring to stand up, his whole body drenched in cold sweat even though the night was quite cool.

I know I don't have much time left. No matter how dangerous, no matter what the cost, he must find a way to report this news to Yen Chi before Tieu Yen can act - because this time, not only is a family's honor at stake, but also the life of the sister he swore to protect.
