Chapter 18
Chapter 18 — Don't Run Anymore, Hua Tri Hoa
My name was printed on it, posted publicly on the school's WeChat account. He looked at me.
“This time it is legal and reasonable.”
My throat was sore, I almost burst out laughing, but then I tried to hold it back. Luong Nghien Chu took a step forward. I want to step back, but behind me is a wall. He stopped a step away from me, not moving any closer.
“I didn't come to force you.”
I raised my head. His eyes were bloodshot, but his voice was very steady.
“I came to tell you, you don't have to give up for me.”
* 【Chapter 11】 At the end of the hallway, someone passed by, the sound of footsteps coming closer from afar. I was about to avoid Luong Nghien Chu passing by, but he didn't stop me, just put a stack of documents in front of me. I don't accept. He lowered his voice and said: "It's not for you to sign." I looked at that document, the logo of Luong Thi Group was printed on the cover. Luong Nghien Chu placed the documents on the window sill and took half a step back.
“I have withdrawn from the marriage project.”
My heart pounded. He continued: "I compensated for the risks of cooperation, and I also handed over the leading rights of the foreign project, but it was not forced by my mother, but I took it out myself in exchange." My voice trembled: "Do you know what you're saying?"
“I know.”
He looked at me.
“My dad forced me to choose between the project and freedom of choice, I chose the latter.”
My eyes stung: "Luong Nghien Chu, are you crazy?" He smiled slightly, a very faint smile.
“I'm wide awake.”
I crumpled the scrap paper tightly, the paper wrinkled into a ball.
“Why do you have to go to this step?”
He was silent for a few seconds, as if he was suppressing some surging emotion.
“Because I don't want to have someone come out and remind me that every time I like you in the future, you're not qualified.”
My breath caught. He took half a step forward, then stopped again, as if afraid he would scare me.
"Hua Tri Hoa, you have never been the price I have to pay for my temporary impulsiveness. I had to get those things sooner or later, but you helped me realize one thing early, on the one hand, I cannot enjoy the power that my family brings, on the other hand, I can't even protect the person I want to choose."
My tears fell. Luong Nghien Chu saw, his finger moved slightly, but did not touch me.
“The day my mother went to look for you, I had an argument with her. She said you didn't have the capital to lose, I admitted, you really couldn't lose.”
I raised my eyes, tears falling on my chin. His voice was deeper.
“So I can't let you lose.”
The hallway was filled with the sound of students whispering.
“Is that Luong Nghien Chu?”
“Is he after the freshman representative?”
My face was hot, I wanted to hide. Luong Nghien Chu turned around again, facing those curious looks. He didn't raise his voice at all, but every word was clear.
“It's true that I'm pursuing her.”
The entire hallway was silent. I was dumbfounded. Luong Nghien Chu turned to look at me.
"It's not that she clings to me, it's not that she takes advantage of me, it's that I chased her from Thanh Ngo to Shanghai, I had her number blocked but I'm still not willing."
Someone held a phone to take a photo. Luong Nghien Chu glanced over.
“Please don't take pictures of her.”
The other person shyly hung up phone down. My chest felt like something had been stabbed open, bitterness and pain welled up at the same time. I grabbed his sleeve and dragged him into the empty classroom next door. The door is closed, the outside sound is completely blocked. The classroom smelled of chalk dust, and the curtains were gently swaying in the wind. I let go and turned my back to him.
“Why did you say those words in front of so many people?”
He stood behind me.
“Because I'm scared.”
I closed my eyes tightly.
“I'm not afraid of losing face.”
