Chapter 17
Chapter 17 — Don't tease your wife
The representative argued that Ha Thua An had problems managing his emotions and that on the night of the incident, he had no malicious intent to commit violence. I looked at that piece of paper and almost burst out laughing. Thieu Ninh presented the hospital's written explanation. "Please explain the origin of this paper first." The representative flipped it over and his face immediately changed. The mediator also frowned. Ha Thua An raised his head suddenly. Ma Thuc Mai's eyes were confused. She defended: "We don't understand anything, we will take whatever the hospital gives us." Thieu Ninh coldly replied: "Fake medical records cannot be covered up with the words 'don't understand'." Ha Thua An finally couldn't act anymore. He glared at Tham Man, his teeth gritted. "It's you." Tham Man raised his head. "It's me." She submitted her documents. Photos of injuries from that year, police report receipts, screen-captured text messages, were placed on the table one by one. Ma Thuc Mai suddenly rushed forward, intending to grab the documents. I went one step faster, pressing my hand on the clipboard. Her hand stopped in mid-air, shaking violently. I looked at her. "Stop acting." At that moment, there was a knock on the door of the mediation room. The employee poked his head in. "There was a girl outside who said it had something to do with Mr. Ha." Ha Thua An's face suddenly changed. I looked back. Standing outside the door was a young woman. She brought along a boy about five years old. The moment the child raised his face, I saw the exact same features coming from Ha Thua An. 16The woman stood outside the door, her face pale, but her hand was holding the child tightly. The boy wore a blue coat, his eyes were black and bright, and the bridge of his nose and the corners of his mouth were almost a miniature version of Ha Thua An. Everyone in the mediation room fell silent. Ha Thua An reacted first. He stood up suddenly, the armband was pulled to the side. "Bach Vi, what are you doing here?" The woman raised her head. "I came to ask for an explanation." Ma Thuc Mai's face was pale, her voice trembling harshly. "What nonsense are you talking about?" "Don't you dare take a child with you and blame it on our family!" The boy was scared by her and quickly hid behind the woman. But he still timidly looked at Ha Thua An and said: "Dad." When that call came out, Ha Thua An's face looked like someone had sucked the blood dry. I still sat still, my fingers slowly tightening. Before getting married, Ha Thua An clearly told me that he had no children and had no problems with past relationships. He said he was clean and wholeheartedly came to me. Now it seems that the cleanliness he talked about is just hiding all the dirty things behind the door. The mediator also froze for a few seconds, then told the staff to close the door. Bach Vi walked the baby in. She didn't cry, nor did she make a fuss. She just took out a stack of documents from her bag and placed them on the table. "This is the child's birth certificate." "This is the photo of him visiting the child over the years." "This is the history of the monthly living allowance transfer he sent me." "And this is the message he sent me the other day." Thieu Ninh took it and glanced at it, his eyes immediately cold. She handed one to me. That is the message Ha Thua An sent to Bach Vi. He said that as long as Bach Vi doesn't show up, he will give her ten thousand at a time. He said he just got married and his new wife has a very high salary. Once he gets the money, he will compensate the mother and child. He told him to absolutely not let Phuong Anh Tuyet know about the child. I looked at those words and suddenly felt nauseous. Turns out I'm not the wife. I am the goose that lays golden eggs in the eyes of their mother and children. Ha Thua An rushed forward to steal the documents. Thieu Ninh hid the file
out the back. The mediator immediately spoke in a harsh voice: "Mr. Ha, please sit down." Ha Thua An gritted his teeth. "This is my personal matter, it has nothing to do with divorce!" I looked at him. "Before the wedding, he hid the fact that he had a child, tricked me into registering the marriage, tricked me into handing over my salary, of course it's related." Ma Thuc Mai immediately slapped the table. "What's the point of cheating?" "If a man makes a few mistakes when he's impulsive, he'll do it." Why?" "The child isn't raised at your house, what's stopping you?" I burst out laughing. "So you've known for a long time." She accidentally spoke and then realized she was wrong, her lips trembled as she tried to change her voice. "I don't know!" Bach Vi suddenly looked at her. "Auntie Ma, don't say you don't know." "That year when you held the baby for a month old photo shoot, you even said he was of the Ha family's breed." Ma Thuc Mai's body stiffened. Tham Man whispered behind me. "They're always like that." I looked back at her. There was no surprise in her eyes, only belated coldness. Ha Thua An suddenly pointed at Bach Vi. "You took my money, and now you're back to bite me?" Bach Vi's eyes finally turned red. "What I received is your child's living expenses." "It's not a hush-hush fee." The boy was so scared that he cried. My mother took a step forward, gently pulling the boy towards her.
