Chapter 25 — Female Lawyer and Torn Will

Updated 22/08/2026 7 min read

A week after the victory over Kim Phat, life gradually returned to a more stable rhythm for all those who had gone through the recent crisis together. Tue Minh returned to her daily work at her law office, although she still held the role of unofficial advisor to Anh Vu on important legal issues of the group.

On a Friday afternoon, when Tue Minh was rearranging files at the office, she received a call from Mr. Doan, who informed that the State Securities Commission had officially concluded the investigation into Kim Phat, confirming serious violations in inciting internal employees to reveal confidential information, leading to this investment fund being heavily administratively fined and banned from participating in acquisition activities of listed enterprises within the next five years.

"This is a complete ending to the whole story," Mr. Doan said over the phone, his voice filled with relief. "I have practiced law for more than thirty years, Ms. Minh, but rarely have I witnessed a case in which justice was served in every detail like this — from restoring legal inheritance, to bringing perpetrators to justice, and now, successfully defending that achievement against all attempts to infringe."

This good news quickly spread to all those who had accompanied each other throughout the recent journey. Mr. Vu organized a small gathering at the group's headquarters to thank everyone who stood by him — from Tue Minh and Duy Bach, to Ms. Sau Cam, Mr. Dinh Van Sang, and even the employees who courageously spoke up during the recent crisis.

"Six months ago, I was just an ordinary warehouse manager. I never thought I would one day stand in this position, and I couldn't imagine that I would have to go through all these challenges," Anh Vu said in a short but emotional speech to all those present. "But looking back, I realize that each of those challenges, no matter how painful, helped me grow and better understand the true meaning of responsibility, integrity, and friendship."

Ms. Sau Cam, standing in the front row, could not hide her tears of happiness. "Grandpa is certainly proud of you, wherever he's watching," she said when invited to say a few words. "I have served this family forty-two years, witnessed many ups and downs, but I have never felt as proud and confident in the future of the Dam family as I do now."

Mr. Dinh Van Sang, who traveled all the way from Lam Dong to the city to attend the meeting at the special invitation of Anh Vu, also had a few emotional words to share. "For twenty-five years, I carried a burden that I thought I would have to bury for the rest of my life," he said, his voice shaking with both age and emotion. "Today, standing here, witnessing justice finally being fully served, witnessing Vu standing firmly as a truly righteous man, I feel like that burden has finally been completely lifted."

Mr. Vu walked over and held Mr. Sang's hand tightly in deep gratitude. "I will never forget your courage in deciding to tell the truth," he said. "If it weren't for you, perhaps the truth about my father would forever be buried." Mr. Sang just smiled and shook his head humbly, but his eyes shone with a rare peace, as if for the first time in a quarter of a century, he could actually sleep well without being tormented by conscience.

After the meeting, when everyone gradually left, Duy Bach pulled Tue Minh to a quiet corner in the small garden behind the group's headquarters, where the sunset dyed the sky orange, creating an unexpectedly romantic scene in the middle of the usual working space.

"I have something to tell you," he said, his voice unusually nervous compared to his usual calmness. "We went through a long journey together, full of challenges but also full of meaning. And during that journey, I realized that I not only admired her as an excellent colleague, but that I loved her, in the most sincere and profound way."

Tue Minh felt her heart pounding at that sincere confession, even though in her heart, her feelings for him had been silently growing for many months. "Me too, Duy Bach," she replied, her voice shaking with emotion. "I never thought that, amidst all the stress and danger of this case, I would find something so precious - someone who truly understands and is always by my side in all the most difficult moments."

Duy Bach smiled brightly, gently held her hand, his eyes filled with sincere love. "Then, I hope, you will allow me to accompany you for the rest of your life, not only in work, but in all moments, whether happy or sad, whether peaceful or turbulent."

"I'm willing," Tue Minh replied, tears of happiness rolling down her face. She thought about her past journey — from a child growing up without a biological family, always longing to learn the true meaning of family, to finding a family in her own way, through the job she chose, through the people she was destined to meet and accompany. And now, standing in the middle of a garden filled with sunset light, next to the man who has stood by her side through every challenge, she feels that she has finally found what she has always longed for most - a real home, built on the foundation of truth, integrity, and sincere love.

Duy Bach bent down and gently kissed her forehead, his eyes filled with love. "Thank you, for entering my life, and for teaching me that true justice lies not only in the pages of legal documents, but also in the way we choose to love, forgive, and rebuild what has been broken."

They stood there, in the middle of the small garden, hand in hand, watching the last sunset of a meaningful day, fully feeling the rare peace after all the storms that had passed, and full of hope for a bright future waiting ahead, for both of them, and for the entire Dam family who had rediscovered the light of truth after many years in the darkness of secrets.

When they returned to the meeting room to say goodbye to everyone, Anh Vu and Thanh Nha immediately noticed the change in both of their eyes, and could not hide their mischievous smiles full of joy. "What just happened out there?" Thanh Nha asked, her eyes glanced at the still clasped hands of Tue Minh and Duy Bach.

"We have just decided to accompany each other in every upcoming journey," Tue Minh replied, her cheeks blushing pink from embarrassment but full of happiness.

The whole room burst into joyful cheers and sincere congratulations. Mrs. Sau Cam, unable to hide her emotions, hugged Tue Minh. "You deserve this happiness, Miss Minh," she said, her voice choked up. "After all you've done for our family, this is the best thing I've ever seen."

That night, when Tue Minh returned to her small apartment, she sat quietly by the window, looking out at the city lights sparkling in the night, her hand still feeling the warmth of Duy Bach's hand. She thought about the small wooden box containing the pieces of the will, the origin of a long and tumultuous journey, and realized that, sometimes, things that seem to be just simple work can lead us to the most meaningful things in life - truth, justice, and sincere love that she never dared to dream of.

Her phone vibrated with a text message from Duy Bach: "Good night, my companion in all upcoming journeys." Tue Minh smiled and quickly typed out a response message before putting down the phone. Her heart was filled with a feeling of complete peace that she had never allowed herself to experience during many years of hard work and closing off from the world around her. She knows that there are still many things to learn ahead, many challenges to overcome, but for the first time in her life, she no longer feels like she has to face it all alone.

She opened her desk drawer and took out the small wooden box that had accompanied her throughout the entire case, now empty after the pieces of the will had been submitted as official evidence in court. But instead of putting it away as a souvenir of completing her mission, she decided to keep it on her desk, as a reminder of the past journey, of the power of truth when reassembled from seemingly irreparable fragments. She smiled, turned off the desk lamp, and went to sleep with a heart full of peace, ready for the new, brighter chapters waiting ahead in her life.
