Chapter 3
Chapter 3 — Growing Carrots Feeding Divine Beasts
Pippi handed the stick back to me, still chewing the last piece of carrot in her mouth. "If there are snakes, you can fight. That place is my old hometown." Tieu Ngu calmly said. "Let's go."5 The miasma in Van Xa Coc is so dense that you can see the colors. The gray-green mist mixed with the smell of rotting leaves and the fishy smell of snakes. I used a wet towel to cover my nose and mouth, and used my cane to follow Tieu Ngu. "The mud has turned to stone and has a fishy smell. Master, follow me, I know the way." Tieu Ngu led the way ahead. Even though she was in the form of a small snake with its tail cut off, the snake's ability to feel was still there. She knew the terrain within a hundred meters. "Be careful under your feet." After about half an hour of walking, Tieu Ngu suddenly stopped. "There is something very big ahead." "How big?" "Very big." A roar came from the deepest place at the bottom of the valley, making the cliffs shake. "Human ants! Are you also worthy of entering Van Xa Coc?" A hoarse voice echoed throughout the canyon. "Snakes." King Grass is the Snake King's treasure! You guys are not even qualified to carry my shoes! Tell me, should I swallow that blind guy first, or swallow that cat first?" I felt the ground under my feet shaking. That thing is approaching. Very big. Just the sound of the wind as it crawled made it hurt my face. "A small snake." That voice suddenly discovered Tieu Ngu. "You piece of trash with a broken tail, are you also coming to give your life?" Tieu Ngu did not answer. She just curled up in place, the tip of her tail gently touching the ground full of rubble. Once. Twice. Three times. “A Thai.” She spoke up. The voice was still the same as usual, cold and calm. "We haven't seen each other for ten years, you've gotten fat." The whole valley suddenly fell silent like death. Even the wind stopped blowing. The "giant thing" was still growling like it was being strangled, unable to make any sound. A long time later. That hoarse voice trembled: "You... are you Venerable Dang Xa?" "Yes." Tieu Ngu replied calmly. "Your subordinates did not know that the Venerable was coming, the crime deserves death!" I heard a giant body crashing to the ground, rubble scattered. That thing was kneeling. "What did he say?" I asked. "Didn't say anything. He is an old servant in my hometown." Tieu Ngu's voice was still as calm as before. "He agreed to give you the Snake King Grass." "Is it so easy to talk? Is my face that big?" "Yes. Your face is the biggest." The remaining half of the journey became like this. Tieu Ngu walked in front, behind was a Snake King so huge that its entire body could not be seen. The Snake King kept his head bowed all the way along the road, wherever his tail swept, it pressed the ground into a trench half a meter deep. Finally, the Snake King Grass was respectfully given to me. Whole body silver white. When touched, it feels cold like metal. Still carrying the moisture of the morning dew. "Thank you." I said to the Snake King. Snake King had difficulty squeezing the words from his throat: "No need to be polite." Three days later, the challenge ended. I used my cane to walk out the door into Van Xa Coc. His whole body was filled with miasma, and his shirt was covered with fallen leaves. In my hand I hold the silver-white snake plant. Outside the entrance there were more than a hundred people surrounding, all coming to watch the joke. "Look! That blind man has come out! He's not dead yet!" "What's in his hand?" "Snake King Grass..." "That's not ordinary Snake King Grass - but a top quality rare to see in hundreds of years! Look at that silver light, it's almost condensed into an entity!" "How did a blind guy like him get it?" "Where's the snake? In Ten Thousand Snakes! Coc has thousands of snakes, not one of them attacked him? "I heard in the bushes not far behind, the Snake King was embarrassed.
curled his tail. "Snakes?" I continued to walk forward with my cane, walking very calmly. "I didn't see any snakes. Maybe they have a day off today." The whole school was silent for a full three seconds. After that, the spiritual energy measuring elder announced in a broken voice: "Second barrier! Passed!"6 "According to the rules, the person who passes the two barriers will not only be able to join the immortal gate, but will also be rewarded with a bottle of Thien Mu spiritual liquid - something refined from the Snake King grass collected over many years. Just one drop can restore eyesight. Now you can use it." The spiritual energy measuring elder placed a small cold porcelain bottle in my palm. The porcelain vase is only as big as a thumb. When gently shaken, you can hear the sound of the liquid hitting the wall of the bottle. I leaned against the railing of the spiritual energy measuring platform, tilted my head back and dripped that spiritual fluid into my eyes. Cold. It was cold at first, then it started to get hot. It seems like something is being pushed from the deepest part of the eye socket to the outside. I closed my eyes and waited for twenty breaths. Then open your eyes. There is light ahead. At first it was just vague spots of light. Then, the spots of light gathered to form human silhouettes, and five senses gradually appeared on their faces. I see Pippi. A brown capybara with a round body. There was mud on his ears, his nose was wet and shiny.
