Chapter 3
Chapter 3 — He Used To See Me As A Decoration, Now He Begs Me Not To Leave
Even my eyelids don't bother to lift. To Khinh Nhu wore a white dress, a pastel colored cloak, held the maid's hand, and walked in step by step, swaying softly. Her face was still somewhat pale and sickly, looking extremely weak and pitiful. She gently bowed to me, her voice so light it was like a feather. I paid no attention to her and continued to fix my medicinal herbs. She didn't feel embarrassed either, she walked up to me, looked at the pile of things on the stone table, covered her nose with a scarf, her eyebrows slightly frowned:
"Sister, what are you doing all this for? The smell is so strong."
“Is there something wrong?” I finally opened my mouth.
She was choked by me for a moment, but quickly showed a perfect smile again.
"I heard that your sister's life in the palace is not good, so I was worried so I specially came to visit you. By the way... I also want to propose to brother Can Ngon on your behalf."
She stopped for a moment and looked at me carefully:
"Sister, I know you didn't do it on purpose. That day when you pushed me, it was definitely just a momentary accident."
“If you just go and apologize to brother Can Ngon, soften your voice and admit your mistakes to him, he will have the softest heart and will definitely forgive you.”
I stopped the movement in my hand and looked up at her. She is truly beautiful, the type of beauty that makes people want to pity her just by looking at her. Her eyes were always sparkling with tears, as if they might shed tears at any moment.
“Are you done talking yet?” I asked.
“After you finish talking, leave.”
I picked up the fork, turned around and prepared to return to the room.
"The smell is strong in my place. I'm afraid it might hit a distinguished guest like you."
To Khinh Nhu's face immediately turned a little whiter, and his eyes turned red almost immediately.
“Sister, I… I just had good intentions…”
“I can't accept your good intentions.”
At that moment, a cold voice came from the hospital gate.
“Tin Chieu, what are you doing again!”
I turned my head and saw Tieu Can Ngon striding in, followed by the Vuong palace's butler. He just glanced and saw To Khinh Nhu standing there, looking like he was about to cry, his face immediately sank. He quickly walked to To Khinh Nhu's side, covered her behind him, then glared at me angrily:
"You really can't stand Khinh Nhu? She had the kindness to come visit you, yet you treat her like that?"
To Khinh Nhu immediately pulled his sleeve and hastily explained:
“Brother Can Ngon, don't blame sister, I'm not good, I shouldn't have come…”
The more she said that, the more Tieu Can Ngon's anger rose. He looked at me, eyes full of disappointment and disgust:
“I was really blind to think that after being locked up for a month, she would more or less reflect on herself.”
"I didn't expect her nature to be like this, cruel to the extreme!"
I looked at the two of them, suddenly feeling a bit funny. I'm even lazy to explain.
“Have you finished speaking yet?” I asked.
Tieu Can Ngon paused, seemingly not expecting my reaction to be like that.
“After you finish talking, please go home.”
I pointed to the door.
"My Bamboo Garden is small and narrow, it cannot accommodate two giant Buddhas like you."
“Her How impertinent!”
Tieu Can Ngon shouted angrily.
“Brother Can Ngon, forget it, let's go home, sister is not in a good mood…”
To Khinh Nhu still stood next to "understand" and advised like that. Tieu Can Ngon's anger was ignited even more fiercely by her advice. He pointed straight at me, word by word coldly commanding:
"From today onwards, without my permission, Tan Chieu is not allowed to step even half a step out of Thinh Truc Garden!"
This is clearly intended to ground me. I calmly uttered one word. My compliance was like a punch hitting soft cotton, making Tieu Can Ngon's heart even more angry. He pulled To Khinh Nhu's hand, angrily waved his sleeve and left. Walking to the courtyard door, To Khinh Nhu turned to look at me. In her eyes, there was a bit of pride and provocation as if it were nothing.
