Chapter 8
Chapter 8 — Help You Earn 7,300,000 Yuan, You Only Give Me 70,000 Yuan?
La Tay looked at the phone and read:
“Put in the fish bones first, then add the tomatoes.”
Old lady Hua tapped her cane on the floor.
“Sour fish soup with tomatoes?”
“You guys at Tham Gia Restaurant really know how to trick customers.”
Tham Ngoc Dung frantically explained:
“This is the new way of doing things.”
I didn't even look at her. Fish bones are sauteed until golden brown. Boiling water is poured in. In just a moment, the soup pot turned milky white. Lady Hua stood next to him. Her eyes stopped on my every move holding the knife.
“This cut…”
“Very similar to a person.”
My hand stopped for a moment. Tham Ngoc Dung immediately interjected:
"He grew up watching my mother cook so he learned a little."
Mrs. Hua turned her head to look at her.
“What about you?”
“How much have you learned from your mother's Dharma?”
Tham Ngoc Dung immediately became speechless. Two bowls of fish soup were brought into the main hall. Old man Hua sat on a large wooden chair. He lost a lot of weight. Next to it is an old tea cup. He tasted Tham Ngoc Dung's bowl of soup first. Just one spoonful. He put down his spoon.
“Who taught you to turn a sour taste into a rancid taste like this?”
The smile on Tham Ngoc Dung's face immediately broke. Old man Hua tasted my bowl of soup again. The spoon stayed in the bowl for a long time. Then he raised his head to look at me.
“What is your mother's name?”
From the kitchen door came a deafening sound. The bowl of soup in Tham Ngoc Dung's hand fell to the ground. Porcelain pieces scattered. La Tay was so scared that he backed away. I looked at Mr. Hua.
“My mother's name is Giang Van Thu.”
Old man Hua stared at me. His voice was hoarse.
“Jiang Van Thu's daughter…”
“Why do you have to sleep in the warehouse of Tham Ngoc Dung restaurant?”
The entire main hall immediately fell silent. The first person to react was Tham Ngoc Dung.
“Mr. Hua, you misunderstood!”
“An Ninh is my sister.”
“All these years I have always taken care of it.”
Old man Hua looked at her.
“Care enough to let your sister sleep in the warehouse?”
“She likes quiet.”
Tham Ngoc Dung forced a smile.
“Young people sometimes like to get angry at their families.”
I held a bowl of soup and stood next to it. Lady Hua turned to ask:
“Shen Ninh.”
“Are what she said true?”
I calmly replied:
"Where I live, Aunt Vuong and Tieu Man have both seen it."
Aunt Vuong was not present. Tieu Man stood at the door. Her voice was shaky but clear.
“It's a storage facility.”
“There are no windows.”
“There are a lot of cockroaches in the summer.”
“Every day, Tieu Tham has to get up at dawn to prepare ingredients.”
Tham Ngoc Dung suddenly turned his head.
“Try saying one more sentence!”
Old man Hua slammed the teacup on the table.
“In my house, you still dare to threaten others?”
Tham Ngoc Dung immediately bowed his head.
“I didn't mean that.”
Co Thua Trach quickly interjected:
"Mr. Hua, things at home are very complicated."
“What outsiders see may not be the truth.”
"In recent years, Ngoc Dung has had a very hard time supporting Tham Gia restaurant."
Old man Hua looked at him coldly.
“Working so hard that you use someone else's mother's food as a sign for yourself?”
Co Thua Trach immediately choked up. Lady Hua turned to me.
“Your mother knows my father?”
"I do not know."
Old man Hua raised his hand. I walked in front of him. He opened the small wooden box next to it. Take out a photo that has yellowed over the years. In the photo, my mother as a young woman is standing under an old sign. In her hand she held a bowl of soup. Next to him is Mr. Hua when he was still healthy.
“Twenty years ago.”
“It was your mother who saved my mouth.”
Mr. Hua looked at the photo.
“That year, after a serious illness, I couldn't eat anything.”
“It was a bowl of your mother's sour fish soup that pulled me up from my hospital bed.”
“Your mother once told me…”
“She has two daughters.”
“The older sister likes beauty.”
“My sister likes to go into the kitchen.”
Tham Ngoc Dung's face was as white as paper. Old man Hua looked straight at her.
“Your mother once said.”
“Her youngest daughter has a very steady hand.”
“The heart is also upright.”
“After she passed away…”
“Is this how you treat your sister?”
Tham Ngoc Dung tried to force a smile.
"Mr. Hua, An Ninh has been pampered by me so much that she has become spoiled."
“Now because he wants to win customers, he can say anything.”
I opened my bag. Take out a file.
“What about compensation?”
Tham Ngoc Dung's body immediately stiffened. Lady Hua frowned.
“What compensation?”
I put the file on the table.
“After my parents passed away in an accident...”
“All compensation money and the old house were kept by my sister.”
“When I was an adult and asked, she said there was no money.”
“Yesterday…”
“She still says that.”
In the blink of an eye. Tham Ngoc Dung's face completely changed. Co Thua Trach immediately spoke:
“Tham Ninh, don't bring these things to the Hua family to cause trouble.”
Lady Hua received the documents. The more she watched, the darker her expression became.
“Tham Ngoc Dung.”
“This money was transferred to your account?”
Tham Ngoc Dung gritted her teeth.
“He was still young then.”
“I'll just keep it temporarily.”
“To the point of letting your sister sleep in the warehouse and eat leftovers?”
Lady Hua coldly asked again. La Tay suddenly interjected:
“Lady Hua, this is a private matter of the Tham family.”
"Besides, it's not like Tham Ninh doesn't benefit."
“If it weren't for General Manager Tham, how would she learn how to manage a restaurant?”
Chu Ngan couldn't bear it anymore.
“The menu and back kitchen of Tham Gia restaurant last year were all handled by Tham Ninh.”
“Tham Ngoc Dung could only stand outside the door to receive compliments.”
La Tay smirked.
“Do you have proof?”
