Chapter 6
Chapter 6 — Husband Takes Little Tam to Party, Big Screen Shows My 31 Million Yuan Project
In the evening, after cooking dinner, Chu Hue suddenly said at the dinner table: "Ah yes, sister-in-law, you are free tomorrow, right? Help me take Niu Niu out for a while, I want to go for a walk with Lam Kha."
"I have some work tomorrow morning..."
"What?" Chu's mother immediately intervened.
"Re-examination, last time the doctor said there was an index that needed to be rechecked."
"What else should I check? Isn't it just anemia? Is it okay to eat more red apples?"
"The doctor has made an appointment." My voice was very determined.
Chu's mother glared at me, opened her mouth and was about to say something...
"Okay mom." Chu Hue waved his hand, "So what about the afternoon? I'll help you take care of the baby in the afternoon."
"Afternoon okay."
Let this matter pass. At night, I lay in bed and set the alarm for seven o'clock the next morning. Cooked breakfast at eight o'clock and then went out. Arrive at Due Hang Technology Group at nine thirty. Ten hours to sign the contract. Finish before half past eleven and then go home. Take Niu Niu out in the afternoon. Not a single loophole. I closed my eyes. But couldn't sleep. All kinds of chaos were constantly swirling in my head, Chu Hue's cold sarcasm, Chu's mother's matter-of-fact attitude, the lipstick stain on Chu Yen's shirt collar that night, the probing eyes with a smile of director Tien's wife at the party... There were also Ms. Trieu's words: "To To, don't be too honest." I turned over, staring at the ceiling. Things will no longer be the same. Tuesday morning. I wake up at seven o'clock to make breakfast. Porridge, eggs, pickles. Simple, quick to do. Chu Hue and Lam Kha still haven't woken up. Niu Niu is also still sleeping. Chu's mother sat eating in the living room.
"I'm going out, Mom. I'll be back around eleven thirty."
"Go quickly and come back quickly, don't be slow."
I said "yes", changed my shoes and left the house. The weather outside is very nice. I called a taxi and went straight to the high-tech park. At nine forty, I arrived at the Due Hang Technology Group building. Enter the door, swipe your guest card and go upstairs. In the elevator, I adjusted my collar and looked at the time on my phone, 9:43. This time it was another larger meeting room, on a long table were two contracts with blue covers. General Director Tran stood up to welcome me.
"Miss Nguyen is here. Please sit down."
Next to them were two strange faces, a man and a woman, both wearing neat suits, probably people from the legal department.
"This is attorney Qi, our Chief Legal Officer, and this is Director Shen of the compliance department."
I nodded to them in turn. During the next half hour, lawyer Te and I reviewed each clause in the contract. Scope of technical transfer, exclusivity period, profit sharing ratio, handover milestones and liability for breach of contract. I read each clause three times the other night, now listening again for final confirmation. No problem.
"If you don't have any comments..."
Lawyer Te pushed two contracts in front of me, placing a pen next to them. I picked up the pen. Below the signature section of Party A's representative, I sign my name. Two neat words appeared on the paper. Then there's the date. Identification number. Bank account information, which is the newly opened account.
"Alright." General Director Tran received his signed contract back, stood up and shook my hand.
"Miss Nguyen, congratulations We officially cooperate happily. The first payment will be deposited into your account within fifteen business days."
I shook hands with each person in turn. When I walked out of the meeting room, my legs felt a bit soft. Not because of stress. It was something very heavy that was finally put down. In the elevator, I leaned against the wall and closed my eyes. 31 million yuan. The first payment is 12.4 million yuan. Fifteen working days. The elevator made a "ding" sound, reaching the first floor. I walked out of the large hall and stood in the sunlight. I raised my head to look at the sky, so blue that there wasn't a single cloud. The phone rang. It was Chu's mother's call.
"When will you finally come back? Niu Niu is awake, asking for food!"
"I'll be right back."
I hung up and called a car to go home. In the car, I leaned back in the seat, the corners of my lips slowly curled up, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't force them down. When I got home it was only fifteen past eleven. Chu Hue and Lam Kha went out for a walk, leaving only Niu Niu and Chu's mother at home.
"Are you back? Quickly heat up some food for Niu Niu!"
I went to the kitchen to heat up milk, mixed cereal and then brought it out for Niu Niu to eat. Chu's mother looked at me.
"How are you today? What are you laughing at?"
I stopped.
"I'm not."
"Smiley face all the time." Chu's mother muttered a question and then did not ask any more.
I bowed my head, retracting the expression on my face. In the afternoon, I took Niu Niu down to the small garden downstairs to play. She ran back and forth on the slide, and I sat on the bench next to her, watching her. The sunlight shines on you, warm and comfortable.
