Chapter 4
Chapter 4 — I Agree To Give Up The Marriage, But No One Knows I'm Smiling
Tieu Dien took my hand and led me out of the cage that had imprisoned me for more than ten years. The Marquis's carriage was waiting outside. Not ostentatious, but still exuding majesty.
"Let's take her home."
Tieu Dien helped me onto the carriage, his voice was gentle but firm. A warm word. How strange it was again. The carriage rolled slowly. I lifted the car curtain and looked back at the painted gate of the Van family's mansion one last time. The seal on the gate shook slightly with the wind. It's like saying the last goodbye to the past on our behalf. I let down the car curtain and turned to look at Tieu Dien. He was quietly looking at me, his eyes extremely attentive.
"Why wait until today?"
I asked to reveal the doubts hidden in my heart.
"Obviously you could have done it sooner..."
Obviously from the moment he brought the bride price, he was able to expose the truth. So why are you still acting out this drama with the Van family? The corner of Tieu Dien's lips curled slightly into a faint smile.
"Because I want you to see it with your own eyes."
"Seeing with her own eyes those who once bullied her had to sow the wind and reap the storm, had to kneel before her, bow their heads and beg."
"I want you to personally push them from the blue clouds to hell."
"Only that can erase the hatred in her heart."
His words made my heart suddenly warm. He did all of this for me. It's all to help us vent our anger.
"And that arrow..."
I remember another thing.
"You already knew it was me?"
"Of course."
There was a hint of a smile in Tieu Dien's eyes as if it were obvious.
"After we broke up on the northern border, when I woke up, the first thing I did was send someone to investigate her identity."
"I know you are the second daughter of the Van family, her name is Van Thu Dien."
"I know your situation in the Van family, know how they treated you."
"Originally, I intended to immediately come to pray for her and take her out of that place."
"But I know, with her personality, she will absolutely not be willing to just leave quietly like that."
He looked at me, as if he could see deep into my heart.
"The frustrations she has endured cannot just be ignored."
"So, I made this game."
"That pair of golden brooches, that word 'Dien', is the signal I sent to you, and also the trap I set for them."
"I want their greed and stupidity exposed in broad daylight."
"I want them to pay the most terrible price for everything they have done."
It turns out that's it. Everything from beginning to end is within his calculations. He not only saved my life. But also understand my heart. He knows that what I want is never just the title of Marquis. What I want is a pleasurable revenge. It's a justice that comes late. The carriage was extremely quiet, with only the sound of the wheels rolling on the green stone road making steady sounds. I looked at his profile with clear lines, my heart filled with hundreds of emotions.
"Thank you so much."
I said softly. Tieu Dien turned his head, grabbed my hand, brought it to his lips and gently placed a kiss.
"I've said it before."
"In this life, if it weren't for her, I wouldn't have married."
"That is my promise to you."
His eyes were hot, filled with unmistakable affection. I felt my cheeks gradually heat up go up. From the days of living and dying side by side on the battlefield. To the secret plans in the middle of the capital. This man used his wisdom and deep emotions to pave a path for us that leads to a new life. The carriage stopped in front of a magnificent palace. On the black background sign with gold letters, three large words are written like a flying dragon and a dancing phoenix. Ho Quoc Marquis Palace. Will be my new home. It is also the new starting point of our life. The butler of Ho Quoc Hau's palace is an old man over fifty years old, surnamed Phuc. Phuc Bo had already brought a group of ladies and servants to respectfully wait in front of the gate. As soon as he saw Tieu Dien helping me get out of the car, he immediately stepped forward to welcome me, a gentle smile on his face.
"Master Marquis, you have returned."
His eyes stopped on people, without any disdain or curiosity, just enough respect.
"This person must be the lady of the Van family."
Tieu Dien nodded slightly, his voice carrying a majesty that did not allow anyone to doubt.
"From today onwards, she is the matriarch of the Marquis Palace."
"You meet her as well as meeting me."
Phuc Bo immediately bowed and bowed.
"The old slave pays his respects to his master and mother."
