Chapter 4
Chapter 4 — I Awakened the Embryo After Twenty-Six Years
The next morning, Giang Thanh poured heavy rain. I sat on the living room sofa, sipping black coffee. Outside the door came a noise.
“What are you guys using to stop me?!”
"Are you all blind?! I'm the eldest lady here!"
Luc Vi Nguyet's shrill voice echoed through the rain. The security captain quickly ran in to ask for instructions.
“President Tham, Miss and Uncle Te are outside causing trouble, saying they want to go in and get something…”
I put down the coffee cup.
“Let them in.”
The big door opened. Luc Vi Nguyet and Te Tu Hang rushed in, their bodies soaked. In Qi Tu Hang's hand, he was still holding the baby named Tieu Bao.
“What exactly do you want to do?!”
Vi Nguyet rushed in front of me, screaming almost crazy.
“Yesterday, I blocked your card, so stop it!”
“This morning the hotel kicked us out because we couldn't pay for the room!”
"Mom, do you know that Tu Hang is a person with dignity?! How much was he humiliated at the reception desk?!"
I looked at its face distorted with anger. Just found it funny.
“Someone with self-respect?”
I glanced at Qi Tu Hang. Although he tried to maintain a noble appearance, the greed and impatience in his eyes could not be hidden at all.
“A guy who is so parasitic that he wants to steal his wife's family fortune…”
“Is it worth talking about self-esteem?”
“Don't let me say that to him!”
Vi Nguyet immediately stood in front of Qi Tu Hang like a mother hen protecting her chicks.
"He's doing charity! He's helping sentient beings!"
“What does a capitalist like me who only knows about money understand?”
I nodded.
"I do not understand."
“Aunt Truong.”
I called out. Aunt Truong led a few workers down from upstairs, dragging four huge black garbage bags. Several garbage bags were thrown straight in front of Vi Nguyet.
“Everything you want is in there.”
I said leisurely. Vi Nguyet was stunned for a few seconds then quickly squatted down and tore the bag open. Inside there were only a few normal clothes he often wore and a few old shoes.
“And where are my haute couture clothes?!”
“And my Hermes?!”
“And the jewelry in my safe?!”
It suddenly raised its head, its eyes red.
“Those are all assets purchased by the Tham Thi Group.”
I leaned forward slightly, looking straight into its eyes.
“Haven't you always criticized the Tham family's money as being dirty?”
“Don't you want to completely cut off from this rotten life?”
“I've had people lock up all those things that smell like money.”
“From now on, they will only belong to the true heirs of the Tham family.”
Vi Nguyet was completely stunned. Qi Tu Hang also started to panic.
“President Tham, you're doing this a bit too much, aren't you?”
"After all, Vi Nguyet is your biological daughter. Do you really want to force her to death?"
He pushed the boy named Tieu Bao forward.
"What's more, Tieu Bao is now Vi Nguyet's legally adopted son."
“No matter how angry you two are, you can't mistreat a child, right?”
“This is the titular eldest son of the Tham family.”
He deliberately emphasized the words "nominal leader". The sound of the abacus in his head was almost about to hit me in the face. I laughed. Laugh out loud.
“Qi Tu Hang.”
“Do you think that Vi Nguyet had an abortion and this life is over for me, right?”
Qi Tu Hang's face changed slightly. But he quickly forced himself to calm down.
"Chairperson Tham was joking."
"Grandma and Uncle Luc are both so old, besides Vi Nguyet... who else can you two rely on?"
This word sounds gentle. But the threat inside is extremely clear. What he meant was: You two are old. Sooner or later, someone will need to remove the oxygen tube. Besides his family of three, they had no other choice. If you obediently hand over the money, you will have peace at the end of your life. I don't answer. Just pick up the phone on the table and turn on the speakerphone. The call was quickly connected. The other end of the line transmitted the voice of the leading expert at the fertility center in California — Dr. Smith.
“Good morning, Mrs. Shen.”
“Good morning, Mrs. Tham.”
“Dr. Smith.”
I responded in extremely fluent English.
“About the six embryos frozen at your center twenty-six years ago…”
“I need to immediately initiate the awakening procedure.”
“Me and my husband…”
“Preparing to welcome our second child.”
In the hall. Quiet as death. Vi Nguyet's pupils constricted violently. Qi Tu Hang's facial muscles began to twitch out of control. His biggest card... I gently tore it to shreds, leaving nothing left.
