Chapter 16
Chapter 16 — I Can't Be Patient Anymore
I divided all the evidence into three folders, clearly arranged as if I were completing a final judgment for this marriage. The first folder is titled "Property Destruction", inside are camera videos, livestream recordings, appraisal papers, court report receipts and all vase valuation documents. The second folder is titled "Infidelity in marriage", inside are photos of text messages, room rental history, pregnancy examination papers, investigation reports of private detectives, and photos of Trieu Thien's social networks. The third folder is named "Asset Transfer", inside are bank statements, transfer history, a chat with Chu Minh admitting to transferring money, and evidence that he falsely declared expenses to withdraw money from the company. Then I started sending emails. The first email was sent to Chu Minh's immediate superior, General Vuong, and was also sent to the human resources department and the executive board. The title is simple, cold, like a knife cutting straight into honor.
"Regarding denouncing project manager Chu Minh for seriously violating professional ethics and showing signs of property misappropriation."
The content is brief but enough to destroy everything he has.
"I am Lam Uyen Thanh, Chu Minh's wife, and would like to denounce three issues: first, having a long-term affair with partner Trieu Thien's employee and causing the other person to become pregnant; second, taking advantage of position to falsely declare expenses, a total amount of about 287,000 yuan; third, using company resources for personal purposes and intending to take his lover abroad, potentially risky for the business."
“All evidence has been attached and simultaneously sent to the internal audit and disciplinary department.”
The second email, I sent to the Zhou family group, a total of forty-seven people, where I had always tried to save face before. The title is so clear that it cannot be avoided.
“Notification of my mother-in-law Truong Tu Lan's intentional destruction of cultural objects worth 30,000,000 yuan and persistent acts of oppression.”
The content this time no longer retains any softness.
"I am Lam Uyen Thanh, Chu Minh's wife, writing this letter to clarify the truth, to avoid people continuing to be blindsided."
"First, Truong Tu Lan arbitrarily broke into my house when I was absent, insulted my mother as a 'dead person', then intentionally broke the photo (video attached)."
“Second, she stole an ancient vase from the Ming Dynasty, which had been assessed by the Imperial Palace as being worth 30,000,000 yuan, and broke it on television when it was mistaken for a fake, and has now been prosecuted by the police (video attached).”
"Third, Chu Minh had an affair with Trieu Thien, and together with her planned to force me to divorce to appropriate property, Truong Tu Lan knew clearly and participated in supporting."
"I have fulfilled my responsibilities for three years as a bride and have never treated anyone badly. Now that things have come to this point, I have nothing to feel guilty about. I hope everyone can distinguish between right and wrong."
The third email I sent to Chu Dinh's husband. The title is simple but sharp.
"Notice that Mr. Chu Dinh's wife participated in destroying property and inciting wrongdoing."
“I would like to inform you that your wife directly participated in and supported the act of destroying property worth 30,000,000 yuan, and repeatedly insulted and incited my mother-in-law throughout the process (with accompanying recording).”
"She knew clearly that Chu Minh was having an affair but still helped conceal it, her behavior showed signs of violating the law. Yes Husband, you have the right to know.”
The fourth email, I sent to Trieu Thien's parents. The title doesn't need to be meandering.
"Notice that your daughter has an illicit relationship with my husband and intends to appropriate property."
"For more than a year, Trieu Thien has maintained a relationship with my husband, who is currently about 12 weeks pregnant. The two of them often go back and forth to the hotel, receive money and large gifts from Chu Minh, and plan to get married after divorcing me."
"Chu Minh is currently facing charges of property destruction worth 30,000,000 yuan, adultery and property transfer. Your daughter, as a third person, knowing clearly but still participating, must also be held legally responsible."
“If you continue to tolerate it, I will consider pursuing joint responsibility.”
I set a sending schedule. Nine o'clock tomorrow morning. One minute without deviation. After that, I printed out the divorce petition. Place on the table. Look for a long time. Then smiled softly. This chess game. I was the last one to leave the country. The agreement is very neat, the house I bought before marriage in my name still belongs to me, the car bought after the wedding but most of the money from my parents also belongs to me, the remaining joint savings after Chu Minh moved out must mostly be returned to me, in addition he must compensate me 500,000 yuan for mental damages. I put the agreement in a file bag, placed it neatly on the table, and then waited, waiting for everything to fall apart the way it was supposed to fall apart. At exactly 9:05 a.m. the next morning, my phone started vibrating continuously, messages and calls poured in like waves, not giving anyone time to breathe. The first caller was Chu Minh, his voice was so panicked and angry that it was distorted:
“Lin Uyen Thanh! Are you crazy?! What do you mean by emailing your boss?! Do you want to kill me?!”
I replied very calmly.
“I'm just telling the truth.”
“Those things… how do you know?!”
His voice visibly trembled.
“Your old phone is in my suitcase.”
“The password hasn't changed, Chu Minh, how much do you despise me?”
There was a gasp on the other end of the line, then a muffled growl:
“I immediately called your boss, said I sent it by mistake, said I made it up! Otherwise—”
“What if not?”
I laughed.
