Chapter 3
Chapter 3 — I hid my patience in the Hospital Department for ten years, waiting for the day to overthrow the Dog Emperor
The strange flowers and plants here are still exactly the same as in my memory. Just someone looking at flowers... everything has changed. I bowed my head, carried the wine jar, and passed between the guests at the party. In my ears were smiles of ingratiation and flattery. I did not dare to raise my head, did not dare to look at the person wearing a dragon robe sitting in the chair position. I'm afraid the hatred in my eyes... won't be able to hide it. Everything is still very favorable. Halfway through the banquet, a drunk mandarin suddenly bumped into someone. The bottle of wine in my hand was not steady and fell to the ground. The wine splashed, wetting the skirt of a concubine next to her. That concubine was the concubine Thuc who was most favored by Wei Dien. She screamed, pointing straight at me.
"That maid! How dare you dirty this palace's clothes!"
I immediately knelt down.
"Your majesty forgive me, this servant did not do it on purpose."
“Not on purpose?” Thuc Phi smiled coldly. “This palace sees that you clearly want to attract the Emperor's attention!”
I bow my head even lower.
“I don't dare, slave.”
"You don't dare? This palace sees that your courage is very big!"
The surroundings immediately became silent. All eyes were focused on him. Including the look from the chairman's seat that made my entire spine feel cold as if pricked by needles. I felt the blood in my body almost freeze. A low but majestic voice rang out.
“Raise your head.”
It's Wei Dien. My body is stiff. Ten years ago, this was the first time I heard his voice at such a close distance.
“I told you to raise your head.”
I cannot resist. I slowly... raised my head. My eyes passed through layers of shadows, directly hitting those bottomless eyes. He was a little older, with a few more wrinkles at the corners of his eyes, but that heroic aura not only did not decrease but became even more terrifying. He sat on a long chair, looking down and examining me from above. It's like looking at an ant. His eyes stayed on my face for a long time. The face has been worn away by years of work and all its features, becoming normal to the point of mediocrity. I saw a flash of disappointment in his eyes, then quickly replaced by disgust.
“Where does this ugly thing come from, is he worthy of serving before me?”
His voice was not loud, but it was like a heavy hammer hitting my heart. Thuc Phi immediately continued, her voice shrill and shrill:
"Your Majesty, this servant bumped into the concubine and even shocked the cross. According to the rules of the palace, she should be beaten and killed on the spot!"
Fight and kill. How easy two words really are. I lowered my eyes, my long eyelashes obscuring all my emotions. I cannot die. At least… it's not possible yet. At this moment, a figure quickly stepped out of the army's ranks and knelt in front of me. It's Tieu Triet. He wore the uniform of a deputy commander and had a straight figure.
“Your Majesty, please calm down!”
His voice was calm but strong.
"This woman is my younger sister. She did not understand things at a young age and collided with noble people. Please remember her first mistake and spare her life. I pray that she will be punished for her."
Wei Dien's eyebrows raised slightly.
“Your sister?”
His eyes went back and forth between me and Tieu Triet.
"A deputy commander of the forbidden army, yet my sister works at the Hoan Y Department? How interesting."
Tieu Triet bowed his head and spoke a tone that is neither arrogant nor flattering:
"Your Majesty, I and my sister were both orphans lost in the palace turmoil in the past. Thanks to the Emperor's grace, we have been able to live in the palace until today. At that time, I had a low position, my words had no weight, I could not find my sister a better job, I could only let her stay at Hoan Y Department in safety."
These words were said so discreetly that no loopholes could be found. While explaining our status, without revealing any traces, we flatter our beauty. Wei Dien snorted softly, not showing his attitude clearly. But Thuc Phi still refused to let go:
"Vice Commander Tieu, can your sister be so lawless? Today you dare to spill wine on this palace, tomorrow will you dare to poison the Emperor's wine?"
What a big hood. In my heart, I laughed coldly. Tieu Triet's spine became even more tense.
"My younger sister absolutely did not mean that! Please reconsider!"
“Review?” Thuc Phi laughed until the flower branches trembled. "There's nothing worth investigating for a low-class palace maid. Where are you? Pull me down and beat me to death!"
Several eunuchs immediately surrounded him. I clenched my fist. The hand was hidden in the sleeve, the nails almost digging into the skin. Tieu Triet suddenly raised his head and looked directly at Wei Dien.
"Emperor!"
His voice contained some pleading.
“I am willing to suffer fifty lashes, I only pray that the Emperor will forgive my sister.”
Fifty lashes. The buffalo leather whips of the forbidden army were soaked in salt water, and fifty lashes were applied. Even if they did not die, they would have to peel off a layer of skin. The whole party immediately became excited.
