Chapter 8
Chapter 8 — I Just Followed the Process Correctly
I started writing my own report. I wrote about how I recovered 800 million yuan of bad debt. And then he was punished right at the celebration party. I wrote about how, because I was afraid of "violating the rules" again, I began to seriously comply with each of the company's regulations. Write about how because of following the rules, you were threatened by manager Liu and humiliated by Chu Khai Minh. I write every detail clearly. Do not add salt and fish sauce. No feelings of blame. I am simply reporting the truth. An hour passed. No one in the office moved. Two hours passed. Someone quietly sent me an email. It's Tieu Truong in the marketing department. In the email, he wrote in great detail how the stuck payment form made the customer angry. And he had to come up with an advance from his own pocket to keep the customer. There's the first person. There will be a second person. Then the third person. It's almost midnight, and my mailbox is almost stuffed to the brim. Emails kept flying in like falling snow. Inside are countless different stories. Some people miss the golden time because the budget approval process is too long. Some people were stuck in the legal department for half a month because of a contract and lost a big customer. Some people, because their work applications were not approved, had to pay their own money to buy plane tickets. When it came time to get the money back, the finance department made things difficult for them. Behind every email... is the struggle and helplessness of an ordinary employee. And those things... are the truest "human hearts" under the management of Chu Khai Minh. The next morning, exactly nine o'clock. The company meeting room door was pushed open. A young man wearing a black windbreaker and gold-rimmed glasses walked in. He looked to be in his early thirties. But his eyes were terrifyingly sharp, carrying a calmness and pressure that was completely inappropriate for his age. He is Mr. Tham. Tham Ham Vu. Chu Khai Minh and manager Luu immediately smiled and walked over to welcome him.
"Mr. Tham, welcome! I'm Zhou Kaiming."
Tham Ham Vu just nodded faintly. His eyes directly passed through the two of them, landing on me.
“Are you Trinh Suong?”
“Yes, Mr. Tham.”
I stood up.
“Is the report ready yet?”
"Done."
I put a USB on the conference table. Chu Khai Minh immediately interjected:
"Mr. Tham, inside are all the company's records and procedures, completely in accordance with regulations. It's just that... comrade Trinh Suong was a bit rigid in his implementation, so..."
Tham Ham Vu raised his hand to interrupt him.
“General Manager Chu.”
“What I want to see is not this.”
He looked at me, the corner of his lips curled up into a meaningful smile.
“Miss Trinh.”
“I heard you prepared something else.”
“A report about…”
“Human heart.”
Chu Khai Minh's face immediately changed. But my heart... Suddenly sank. How did he know? The smile on Chu Khai Minh's face completely froze. He looked at Tham Ham Vu in disbelief, then suddenly turned to glare at me, his eyes filled with surprise and anger.
“What kind of heart report?”
He shouted loudly.
"Trinh Suong! What are you doing behind the company's back?!"
Manager Luu also immediately chimed in:
"Mr. Tham, don't listen to her nonsense! Trinh Suong holds a grudge against the company because of the bonus. Whatever she submits could be fake and one-sided!”
There was no expression on Tham Ham Vu's face. He didn't even bother to look at the two jumping people. His eyes from beginning to end remained on me. But it carries a penetrating feeling like seeing through everything. It's like saying... It's your turn to act. I looked straight into his eyes and immediately understood.
“Human heart” is not something he can guess.
It was the person who sent that mysterious message who told him. That mysterious person wasn't just helping me. But he is also helping Tham Ham Vu. Or should we say... Because the three of us had a common enemy, Chu Khai Minh, we were connected by an invisible string. I didn't pay attention to Zhou Kaiming's screams. Just calmly took out another USB from the briefcase. A silver USB, without any markings.
“Mr. Tham.”
I gently placed it on the table and pushed it towards him.
“There are no confidential company documents inside.”
“There were only one hundred and thirty-two emails.”
“Coming from ordinary employees of seven departments including number one sales department, marketing department, technical support department…”
“Every email is written by their own hand.”
“Record all the real difficulties they have encountered over the past month because of the company's 'standardization' process.”
“I think…”
“These are more convincing than any cold OA profile.”
“It also best represents the true humanity of this company.”
The meeting room was silent. Chu Khai Minh's breathing began to become heavy. He stared at that USB like he was looking at a bomb that could explode at any time. He knew exactly what was inside. That's one hundred and thirty-two statements that are enough to nail him to the pole of humiliation. Tham Ham Vu picked up the USB.
