Chapter 8
Chapter 8 — I Overturned My Own Sentence
I don't know when he was standing behind. Dark gray vest, white pocket square. His eyes did not look at anyone else. Just look at Tran Duyet.
“Is there a problem?”
Tran Duyet's expression immediately changed. In Hac Thanh, no one dared to act arrogantly in front of Co Tham.
“General Manager Co, long time no see.”
He replied leisurely.
“Please come inside.”
Tran Duyet glanced at me one more time then turned and left. Tong Dat walked behind her and turned to look at me again. Co Tham still stood in place.
“Are you okay?”
“Is she Tran Duyet?”
“You know?”
"We've met a few times. Just business relations."
He stopped for a moment.
“The way she looks at you is not right.”
"She put me in jail for three years. Of course her eyes wouldn't be right."
Co Tham nodded.
"Don't go first after the party. I have something to say."
Having finished speaking, he turned and walked into the hall. The party lasted two hours. I stood in the corner, watching Tran Kien Hoa clinking glasses with all kinds of businessmen, watching Tran Duyet holding Tong Dat's arm through the crowd, watching everyone smiling and talking to her warmly. New noble of Hac Thanh. Young businesswoman. Future star of the Tran family group. No one knows... Below her feet is stepping on a corpse. That body is me. After the party ended, Co Tham called me to a private office on the fiftieth floor. He pushed a stack of documents in front of me.
“Check it out.”
This is the internal audit report of Bang Vien for Hang Tin. Some unusual amounts are flagged in red. These are the data lines I discovered before.
“You know everything?”
He leaned back in his chair, looking at me.
"But the chain of evidence is still not complete. There are still some important links missing."
“What you discovered in the data, my people also saw.”
Co Tham looked at me.
“But you are much more organized than they are.”
“What do you want me to do anyway?”
“Help me complete this chain of evidence.”
He tapped lightly on the file.
“Hoa Kien's entire money laundering network goes through Hang Tin.”
“What happens after that?”
“Then I will hand it over to the prosecutor's office.”
“Why do you insist on trying Tran Kien Hoa?”
“Trade Competition.”
He replied leisurely.
“He got in my way.”
“Is it that simple?”
Co Tham looked straight into my eyes.
“It's not simple for you either.”
He said slowly:
“If Tran Kien Hoa falls, Tran Duyet will lose his support.”
“Your case… has a chance to be overturned.”
I bowed my head and looked at the documents.
"I need Hoa Kien's business registration documents for the last five years, the shareholding diagram of related companies, and Hang Tin's entire banking transaction history before being acquired."
“How long will it take?”
“One month.”
“Too slow.”
He looked at his watch.
“I give you two weeks.”
I raised my head.
“But I have one condition.”
“Any evidence related to my case must be partially copied to my lawyer.”
Every day I work sixteen hours. During the day, work normally in the Strategic Investment department. Stay at night to investigate Hoa Kien. Co Tham directly granted me the highest data access rights. On Thursday, I found the first important evidence. In June 2019 — the year I was arrested — Hua Jian had a cash payment of twenty thousand yuan. That amount is recorded as:
“Office shopping product.”
The recipient of the money is a personal account named "Truong Vy". That is the real name of the person who took the exam that year. She used a fake identity. I immediately sent the information to Ton Minh.
“Truong Vy, her last name is not Vuong. That year she used a fake name. Can you find out where she is now?”
The next day, Ton Minh replied.
“Found it. In Shen city.”
“Working as an English teacher at a training center.”
On the eighth day, I completed the entire cash flow path. Hoa Kien → Hang Tin → offshore account → BVI company → back to the investment fund controlled by Tran Kien Hoa. Total amount: One hundred and twenty million yuan. I gave the report to Co Tham. After reading it, he was silent for a long time.
“You really only finished high school?”
“Trieu Hong taught me for three years.”
I calmly replied.
“In the past, the amount of money she managed was ten times larger than this.”
“Trieu Hong…”
Co Tham frowned slightly.
“The person in that financial scam?”
“She's not a fraud.”
I looked at him.
“She is like me. Being set up in a trap.”
Co Tham did not answer.
“The report is very complete.”
He tapped lightly on the table.
“But there's still something missing.”
“Confessions of insiders.”
I immediately understood what you meant.
“You mean… Truong Vy?”
