Chapter 3 — I Was Evicted From Home The Day I Lost My Job, 7 Days Later I Became Their Boss

My voice was calm, but like a bomb thrown into the bottom of still water, exploding in absolute silence. Everyone's eyes immediately turned back and forth between me and Chu Le, the air was filled with the scent of curiosity and embarrassment. In just a few seconds, Chu Le's face changed from white to red, then blue, and finally as gray as ashes. Her lips trembled, it took a long time for her to squeeze out a few words.

“You… why are you… here?”

I don't answer that stupid question. I went straight to the director's private office, which had the best view, stopped in front of the door, turned around and looked at all the staff.

"In ten minutes, meeting room. Everyone bring this quarter's project report and data analysis."

Having finished speaking, I didn't look at anyone anymore, pushed the door open and walked in.

With a "bang" sound, the thick glass door blocked all sight and sound from outside.

But I can almost imagine, behind that door, the gossip is about to explode. Sure enough, in less than ten seconds, my personal phone vibrated repeatedly. Message from Chu Le.

"Lam Van, what do you mean?! Are you kidding me?! Are you playing with me on purpose?!"

"Aren't you unemployed? Why are you our director? What have you done with the company?"

"I tell you, this is a company! If you dare not differentiate between public and private, I will sue you!"

I looked at those provocative words, calmly took a screenshot, and saved it. After that, I turned off the phone and turned on the computer. The game... has now officially begun. Ten minutes later, the marketing department meeting room. Around the long table were faces of all kinds of emotions. Some people are tense, some are curious, and some are quietly observing. Chu Le sat in the farthest position from me, her head bowed, her face pale. Her hands under the table were clenched together so tightly that her knuckles turned white. I sat in the chair position, in front of me was a laptop connected to a projector.

"Okay, it's time. Let's begin." My voice wasn't loud, but in the quiet room it was so clear that no one could miss it.

"One by one, five minutes each. Report this quarter's project progress, core metrics, and next plan."

I pointed towards the employee on the left. Meetings take place sequentially. Some people prepare carefully and present coherently. There were also people who clearly lacked confidence, stuttered, and were speechless after I asked a few questions. The atmosphere in the room became increasingly heavier. Finally, it was Chu Le's turn. She stood up, her legs shaking. Open the slide, a dry voice begins to report.

“I… this quarter was in charge of the ‘Spring Refresh’ promotion project… the effect was very good… the number of new users… reached five hundred thousand…”

Speech is broken, content is empty. It's all fancy words, the data is just skimmed over, vague and unclear. I didn't interrupt. Let her perform her entire awkward performance in front of everyone. When she finished speaking, she breathed a sigh of relief and prepared to sit down.

"Wait."

I spoke up. She stiffened, her panicked eyes looked towards me. I didn't look at her, just put the laptop screen on the projector.

“Chu Le, you just said your project worked very well, right?”

On the screen is a detailed table of data.

"This is the summary report you submitted. I spent an hour looking at it last night... quite interesting."

I swiped lightly, the data scrolled down.

“The report recorded an ROI of 3.5, far exceeding expectations of 2.0. But her calculation formula only includes advertising costs, intentionally ignoring personnel costs, creative costs and channel maintenance costs. If calculated enough, the actual ROI… is less than 0.8.”

No one spoke up. I continue.

“You also said the project brought in five hundred thousand new users. But the technical department checked, more than thirty percent of them were registered accounts that were not active at all."

I stopped for a moment, my voice calm and cold.

“Chu Le, are you considering the company a fool… or are you considering yourself a fool?”

The air seemed frozen. Chu Le's face was no longer pale, but pale and bloodless. Cold sweat rolled down drop by drop.

“I… I didn't mean… to be… a subordinate who falsified data! That's right, it's them!”

She panicked and blamed it.

“Subordinates?”

I smiled softly. That sound in the quiet space became sharp and deafening. I switched to another file. Several anonymous emails appeared on the screen.

“As far as I know, this report was handled by you alone from start to finish. Because she was afraid that others would share the credit, she refused all support. Right?"

“What's worse, she pushes all the heaviest tasks to the interns. She takes their ideas as her own.”

“Last night, I received these emails from your colleague. The content accuses her of taking credit, pushing responsibility, abusing power, and even bullying at work."

I looked straight at her.

“Chu Le, is there anything else you want to say?”

The evidence is clear. Indisputable. Chu Le completely collapsed. She slammed down on the table, pointed straight at me, and screamed hysterically.

“Lin Van! Don't be too much! This is personal revenge! Isn't it because you were kicked out by the Chu family that you hold a grudge and deliberately target me?!”

The whole room was buzzing. Everyone's eyes immediately changed, both surprised and understanding. Turns out... it's an old relationship. I calmly looked straight at her and slowly stood up. My height is slightly higher, the gaze from above creates invisible pressure.

“First, these are working hours, and this is Tinh Dieu's meeting room. Please call me director Lam.”

I stopped for a beat.

“Second, whether I take personal revenge or not, everyone here and the leadership will judge for themselves. What I just said… is a matter of your ability and professional ethics.”

“The conclusion is - your professional capacity and professional ethics are not worthy of any position at Tinh Dieu. To put it bluntly, from a professional perspective, she is just trash in the office."

I turned to the human resources director who was standing at the door listening.

"Director Vuong, based on Chu Le's serious violations at work, falsifying data and bad professional behavior, I recommend that the company immediately terminate the contract with her."

Director Vuong understood, nodded, and gestured towards the door. Two tall guards walked in and stood on both sides of Chu Le.

“Miss Chu, please pack up your personal belongings and leave the company immediately. For termination procedures, the human resources department will contact you later."

Chu Le was completely dumbfounded. She looked at me, then at the security guard, and finally turned to ask for help from her colleagues. But those who once flattered her now bowed their heads and avoided her, as if avoiding an epidemic.

“No… you can't do that to me! I am a long-time employee! Lam Van, you bastard damn! You won't end well!”

She screamed, rushing towards me. The security guard immediately held her hands tightly.

“Take her out.” I coldly ordered.

The sounds of cursing, crying, and struggling gradually faded away, then disappeared completely in the hallway. The meeting room was so silent that every breath could be heard clearly. I looked around at the different faces, then sat down, my voice calm again.

“Okay, the side story is over. Continue meeting.”

At that moment, I knew, my "first fire" had burned. And this… is just the beginning. Late in the afternoon, I finished handling the day's work and walked out of the office. As soon as I got down to the lobby, the receptionist called me back, looking awkward.

“Director Lam… there is someone down there looking for you, saying they are family members. They just stayed in the lobby, no matter how much we advised them, they refused to leave."

I calmed down slightly. No need to guess to know who it is. Sure enough, when we got down to the first floor, a familiar scene appeared before our eyes. My ex-mother-in-law sat down on the shiny marble floor, banging her thighs and crying loudly.

“Oh my god! Is there still justice! Cruel daughter-in-law, as soon as she has a little power, she turns around and wants to force our whole family to death!

Her voice was full of performance, attracting many people to stop and watch, point and talk. Chu Minh Hien stood next to him, his face full of confusion and impatience. Chu Le stood there, her eyes full of resentment, as if the whole world owed her a large sum. As soon as my mother-in-law saw me, she immediately jumped up, as if she had seen a savior and as if she had seen an enemy. She rushed forward.
