Chapter 3 — I Went to the Border to Seek Peace and Met the Man of My Dreams

I thought, he must have seen my ears turn red, so I couldn't help but laugh softly. That journey lasted a whole day. When it was dark and the road ahead could no longer be distinguished, the army stopped to camp and rest. As soon as I got off the horse, I no longer had the strength to maintain decorum, my whole body was as soft as mud, leaning heavily on Bich Lan. Bich Lan sadly hugged me and helped me sit down.

“Miss, why do you have to suffer like this?”

"We've come this far, just try a little harder, maybe you'll soon meet General Do."

Next to me, a small general wearing silver armor gave me a bag of water. I didn't have time to say thank you, I just quickly accepted it, raised my head and drank in large gulps. The water was cool and sweet, the burning pain in my throat immediately subsided. He looked at me and slowly spoke.

“Why must she meet General Do?”

He smiled at me, a hint of gentleness seemed to flash through his eyes. Before I could see clearly, that look had disappeared, leaving only clear alertness. I reached out and returned the water bag to him. Before he could say anything clearly that he was here to ask for a letter of separation, a loud commotion suddenly rang out.

"If there is an ambush, immediately set up a formation to meet the enemy."

The water bag fell to the ground, clear water gushed out. The silver-armored minion rushed away like an arrow leaving the bowstring. In just a moment, there appeared before our eyes soldiers hit by arrows and collapsed, along with bodies slashed by swords. Bich Lan and I hugged each other tightly, both avoiding and screaming in such horror that our hearts were broken. Perhaps because the scream was too loud, a curved, brightly sharpened blade suddenly swung straight towards us. I tried my best to push Bich Lan away, but I didn't have time to dodge. Right at the moment my soul left my body, a strong arm pulled me back, trapping me completely in my chest. The sound of weapons colliding was deafening, I buried my face in his chest. The silver armor is cold, but my heart is hot.

"Hide carefully, save your life and go see General Do."

After arranging me in a safe place, he turned around and rushed into the battle. My eye sockets were so painful that I didn't dare let my tears fall. I'm afraid my tears will blur my eyes and I won't be able to see his figure anymore. An arrow lurking in the darkness, aimed straight at the target, suddenly rushed forward. Before my mind could think, my body instinctively blocked my face. Sharp pain came, followed by his urgent, panicked call.

“Giang Dao… Giang Dao…”

I fell into his arms. In front of him was his worried face and red eyes. The last consciousness left in us is only one thought. I've never told him my name, so why does he know I'm Giang Dao? Darkness came, I completely lost consciousness. When I woke up again, I discovered I was lying in a ruined temple. In front of his chest, that arrow was still deeply embedded.

“This arrow is probably poisonous.”

The person who spoke up was a military doctor.

“If we don't get treatment in time, I'm afraid it will be life-threatening.”

“Everyone out.”

His voice was cold but decisive, carrying authority that did not allow anyone to disobey orders. Everyone retreated one by one, leaving only me and him in the deserted temple.

“I will help you pull out the arrow, it will be a bit painful.”

I look at him, nodded slightly. In his eyes, that hard-to-name gentleness appeared again. I was instantly immersed in those starry eyes, to the point of forgetting the pain that lay ahead. But what happened next caused us to completely collapse. In front of the chest, the robe was torn apart. Revealing her round shoulders and plump curves makes people dare not look straight at her. I panicked and raised my hands to cover my chest, shaking my head endlessly. However, his wrist was held tightly by his hand and pulled down.

“You don't need your life anymore?”

His face was cold, his voice carried an unprecedented severity.

“Losing your reputation is like losing your life.”

I gritted my teeth and endured the intense pain and tears, trying to reason.

“Your General Du will definitely not blame you.”

Before I could say anything more, his hand tightly grasped the arrow handle. The moment the arrow was pulled out, the pain hit me so intensely that I almost fainted.
