Chapter 6 — Jilted at the Altar

Updated 10/08/2026 5 min read

Three months ago, he had still been away on a business trip in another province; he had not even seen Lam Uyen once! And that so-called "unintentional incident caused by drunken loss of control" between them had occurred only a month ago.

"Lam Uyen..."

Hua Trach's voice trembled, cracking under the strain, his eyes bloodshot and pulsing with fury. "Exactly whose bastard child are you carrying?"

Lam Uyen collapsed to the floor in terror, tears streaming down her face. "A Trach! Listen to me, please! It is all a misunderstanding! The medical equipment must be faulty!"

She attempted to crawl forward to grab the hem of his trousers, but he kicked her away with savage force. "Get out! You despicable wretch! Do you take me for an idiot who would raise another man's offspring?"

Chu Que Mai, who had just forced her way into the room, heard this exchange and her eyes rolled back in her head. "My eldest grandson... is a bastard?" She let out a sharp, guttural cry, clutched her chest, and slumped unconscious to the floor. The clinic erupted into chaos, resembling a boiling pot. Hua Trach, acting like a man possessed, lunged forward to strangle Lam Uyen. Doctors and nurses rushed to intervene. I stood in the doorway, my phone raised, recording the entire dramatic scene. Through the lens, I watched as the security guards pinned a struggling Hua Trach to the floor. He turned his head toward the door, and as his gaze locked onto me—standing there in cold, detached observation—the rage in his eyes shifted suddenly into a look of absolute, soul-crushing regret. Finally, it dawned on him: he had sacrificed his career, shouldered massive debts, and discarded a truly exceptional fiancee, all for a promiscuous woman who had made him a cuckold.

"Niem Niem! Tham Niem!"

He clawed at the floor, scrambling toward me, desperate to reach for my hand. "I was wrong! I truly know I was wrong! I was deceived by that vile woman too!" He sobbed, "Can you forgive me? Let us start over! From now on, I will treat only you well!"

I stepped back, recoiling from his touch with undisguised disgust. "Hua Trach, keep wearing the green hat you earned and live your life well. You two—a wicked woman and a pathetic dog—are a match made in heaven. Stay together forever."

After returning from the hospital, I took a hot shower and rested for a while. That evening, my cousin sent me a link. "Niem Niem, look at this quickly! I am so furious I could die!"

I opened the link to discover that Lam Uyen was live-streaming, using the platform to denounce me. "I was truly pushed to the edge, which is why I chose to expose my former best friend online," she sobbed. "She is a con artist. She not only bled her fiance dry but also burdened him with a mountain of debt. At the wedding, after realizing she could no longer extract money from A Trach, she intentionally staged the broken engagement."

"For the sake of the big picture, and out of heartbreak for A Trach, I agreed to step in and complete the ceremony for her. But she turned around and bit the hand that fed her, spreading rumors that I was the 'other woman.' Today, she even colluded with doctors at the maternity clinic to frame me..."

She wept as she spoke, painting herself as a fragile white lotus suffering for the sake of love and friendship, while portraying me as a venomous, jealous woman, a fraud who manipulated hearts and plotted to steal wealth. In an era of social media where topics like "the other woman" and "betrayal by a best friend" easily ignite public outrage, combined with her status as a vulnerable pregnant woman, the video hit the city’s trending list within hours. The comment section beneath the stream was vile.

"Oh my god, how can such a cruel woman exist in this world?"

"This person is a psychological freak, using marriage as a tool for extortion. I suggest a thorough investigation!"

"Dox her! Make it so she cannot show her face in society!"

Not only that, but my personal phone number was leaked by netizens. A barrage of abusive messages and harassing calls flooded my phone. Seeing the vitriol filling every corner of the screen, I did not panic; instead, I let out a cold laugh. Lam Uyen wanted to use cyberbullying to destroy me. Since she was determined to walk the path to her own destruction, she should not blame me for the consequences.

I organized all my documentation. It included half a year of chat logs between Lam Uyen and me, where she constantly interrogated me about Hua Trach's schedule and preferences. I had a high-quality video of my mother-in-law handing Lam Uyen a dowry payment for changing her title at the wedding. Finally, I had the video I recorded outside the clinic room today. I compiled everything into a long-form infographic and a collection of clips, titling it: "The Best Friend, the Mistress, and the Cuckold—The Greatest Guide to Avoiding a Wedding Disaster in History."

I posted it directly into her comment section. Public opinion shifted instantly.

"Good heavens! This tea is delicious! The 'mistress' is three months pregnant with a bastard and tried to frame someone else to raise it?"

"I actually thought Tham Niem was too cold-hearted before. It turns out the Hua family is just a den of con artists!"

"Is this man’s brain made of rocks? He gave up a high-level executive fiancee for this pile of garbage?"

A few days later, I received a message from a mutual acquaintance.
