Chapter 1
Chapter 1 — Just Came Home Husband Was Bullied
On the wedding night, I accidentally overheard my husband's parents saying that tomorrow they would teach me a good lesson. The next morning, as soon as I woke up, my father-in-law asked me to submit my salary card. I flatly refused. The mother-in-law immediately got angry:
"You've only been a daughter-in-law for a day and you're already playing tricks? This house doesn't support freeloaders! If you don't give me money, get out!"
Looking at the large wedding room, I burst out laughing:
“If I have to go away, it seems like it's you guys, right?”

Just after eating a bite of breakfast, the mother-in-law glanced at the father-in-law. Receiving the signal, he immediately slammed his chopsticks on the table:
“Diep Phong, your wife has a child who wants to marry you back to life, why don't you have any manners?”
My husband, one second ago was still immersed in the joy of marriage, and the next second was stunned by his father. He turned to look at his father, then turned back to me, full of confusion:
“What's wrong with you two…?”
The mother-in-law impatiently "tsk" and said angrily:
"Of course we have to offer wine to our elders! If you don't know, why don't your wife and children forget?"
Father-in-law added:
"That's right! To correct this stubborn habit, I suggest you two pay your entire salary every month!"
I was stunned, it turned out that all this beating around the bush, the main purpose was to get our salary cards. Before he could react, Diep Phong obediently brought up his salary card. I didn't expect my husband to agree so quickly. Under the table, I kicked him until he almost smoked, but it still had no effect. Mother-in-law received Diep Phong's salary card, smiled with satisfaction, then turned to look at me. The meaning was too clear. But I still calmly poured two cups of morning tea, gave one cup to Diep Phong, took one cup for myself, then stood up to pay my respects to my husband's parents. The father-in-law smiled with satisfaction, and the mother-in-law also nodded with satisfaction. After offering tea, I immediately bent down to continue eating the quiche. There was no mention of the salary card at all. Obviously, wanting to change the subject with action is unrealistic. Seeing that I had no intention of paying, my mother-in-law smiled and asked:
"Tieu Nguyet, Diep Phong has already given his salary card, what about you?"
I raised my head bewilderedly and looked at her:
"You? You don't work, where can you get your salary card?"
The mother-in-law's face immediately darkened and her voice became much higher:
"Why don't you work? After all, your father is a famous businessman in the city, you're married, he will definitely support you!"
I tried to suppress my discomfort, expressionless and explained:
"Provide well, haven't you already found Diep Phong an easy job? Thirty thousand a month, every day when you go to work you just have to drink tea and surf the internet..."
“Why drink tea and surf the internet?”
The father-in-law was so angry that he slammed his chopsticks on the table:
"If Diep Phong is incompetent, can his father-in-law arrange for him a high position in a state-owned enterprise?"
The mother-in-law also continued:
"That's right! My son is a master's degree master! He can't find any job he wants? Your father is just creating the conditions, but my son's true strength is still up to my son's own efforts!"
Listening to what the two of them said, I was so angry that I almost burst out laughing. Her father-in-law is an elementary school teacher, her mother-in-law is a housewife, and their thinking is still from decades ago. Just being a college student feels terrible, let alone a master's degree. But Diep Phong's master was bought by my father from one "fake university" that exists. Strength or not, he himself knows best. But okay, that's not important. I successfully distracted them. If they weren't stupid, they would have understood that I didn't want to pay. But I overestimate them. The mother-in-law still persisted in bringing the subject back to the issue of money, directly ordering:
"Tieu Nguyet, even though you don't have a job, you still have to pay a salary every month. Your father is so rich, these three pennies are missing."
"Or how about this, to be fair, you also transfer thirty thousand to us every month, just like Diep Phong."
After hearing this, I was so angry that I burst out laughing. Really clever calculation, isn't it? Diep Phong had to hand over all his salary, even I - a person without a job - had to pay? If calculated like this, each month is sixty thousand, equal to the amount of money my father-in-law earns from working all year. Because I was properly educated, I didn't immediately rip off my face, I just firmly refused:
“I will not agree.”
Now is the time to test Diep Phong's resourcefulness. The job was arranged by my father for him. I don't have a job yet, but even if I did, there's no way I would give money to my husband's parents. I understand very well, without money, you have no voice. I believe that Diep Phong will definitely be on my side. But I didn't expect that he would turn around to support his parents:
“Wife, don't be angry, our parents only think about us.”
“If you let them keep the money, you can save it, but if you let me keep it, you'll spend it all without realizing it.”
“If you need money in the future, just ask your parents directly.”
I quietly looked at him, without saying a word. Seeing my silence, Diep Phong continued to comfort me:
"This house has always been managed by my father, he has financial experience. If you need anything, just open your mouth and ask him!"
The mother-in-law immediately followed:
"That's right, your family doesn't lack this little change. Since we're husband and wife, why are you being so polite?"
I burst out laughing.
"My family doesn't lack money, but if we don't lack money, do we have to give it to you?"
“You always say it's for my good, so why don't you guys just give me all the money to keep?”
“Last night I heard two people talking in the living room, saying they would teach me a lesson this morning.”
“This lesson, I have learned.”
“But I hope, there won't be a next time.”
After speaking, I turned to ask Diep Phong:
“What did you promise me before we got married?”
"It was you who knelt down, raised your hands to the sky and swore to my parents that, after the wedding, the money in the house would be managed by me."
“No matter how big or small, you will discuss it with me.”
"And promise that your parents won't interfere in our lives."
“This is your guarantee?”
“Or is it all just empty talk, just to trick me into marrying into your house?”
The more I spoke, the angrier I became, glaring at Diep Phong.
