Chapter 10
Chapter 10 — Kissing the CEO by Mistake, Winning the Ideal Husband
As the final notes of my presentation faded, the entire auditorium erupted into a thunderous, prolonged ovation. The clients sitting in the front rows expressed their utmost satisfaction with the proposal and immediately made the decisive call to sign the contract with us. Right at that triumphant moment, Mo Chen stepped up onto the stage. He took the microphone and addressed the gathering with a cool, commanding tone.
Before we celebrate our success, I believe there is an urgent matter that requires our attention.
He signaled with a hand gesture toward the audience. Two security guards instantly strode forward, flanking Snow White, who froze in her seat.
Director Snow, you are under grave suspicion of stealing commercial secrets and deliberately tampering with project data, causing severe losses to the corporation. Please accompany these officers.
Snow’s complexion drained of all color, turning as pale as a blank sheet of paper.
No! It wasn't me! I didn't do anything! she shrieked, struggling frantically against the guards. Mo Chen, you have to believe me! It was her! Wan Lin framed me!
Mo Chen gazed down at her with chilling detachment, his eyes entirely devoid of any warmth or lingering emotion.
I put my faith solely in irrefutable evidence.
With a flick of his wrist, he pressed the remote control. The massive projection screen behind him flickered to life, broadcasting high-definition surveillance footage. In the video, Snow could be clearly seen sneaking into my private office in the dead of night, manipulating the sensitive data stored on my computer. The stolen materials and the digital footprint were glaringly undeniable. Overwhelmed by the crushing reality, Snow collapsed onto the floor, her face ashen and lifeless.
Why... she muttered under her breath, tears pooling in her eyes. I only did it because... I loved you so much...
Love? Mo Chen let out a frigid, mocking laugh. Your so-called love is as cheap as it is venomous. I, Mo Chen, have no use whatsoever for that kind of affection.
In the end, Snow was escorted out of the building in disgrace. Not only was her reputation utterly in ruins, but she would also face severe legal consequences for her corporate espionage. A battle fought without the sound of gunfire had finally drawn its curtains.
The scandal surrounding Snow sent shockwaves through the entire company, while simultaneously catapulting me into the spotlight of genuine acclaim. I was no longer whispered about as merely someone who climbed the ranks through favoritism or ties to the boss. I had used my raw capability and relentless drive to prove my worth to everyone. Before long, I was officially promoted to project director, entrusted with leading my own independent team. My career soared to unprecedented heights. True to his word, Mo Chen also invested generously to help me establish a design studio of my very own, finally bringing my lifelong dream to fruition.
On a brilliantly sunlit afternoon, my studio officially celebrated its grand opening. Qing and all my devoted teammates came to share in my joy. The entire space was brimming with radiant sunflowers, my absolute favorite. Every single blossom turned its face boldly toward the golden sunlight, mirroring the boundless horizon of my own future. As the studio's primary investor, Mo Chen was naturally present for the festivities. He stood amidst the bustling crowd, locking his gaze on me with a tender, affectionate smile.
As the celebration wound down and the last of the guests trickled out, I turned around and walked right into a familiar, warm embrace. Mo Chen wrapped his arms around me from behind, burying his face slightly near my neck.
Congratulations on your grand opening, Director Wan, he whispered softly against my ear.
And congratulations to you too, President Mo, for securing such a high-potential investment, I retorted with a playful smile.
Back then, just because of a single kiss, you ended up having to compensate me for three months of your time, he murmured, resting his chin gently on my shoulder, his voice laced with amusement. Now... are you finally ready to compensate me with the rest of your life?
I chuckled softly, turning around in his arms, standing on my tiptoes, and sealing my answer with a sweet, lingering kiss. The golden afternoon sunlight streamed through the expansive glass windows, casting a gentle, glowing halo over the two of us. It was a warmth that permeated the soul. At that moment, I knew I had finally discovered the ultimate answer. I hadn’t compromised or lost myself; rather, of my own free will, I had won the entire world.
