Chapter 7
Chapter 7 — Little Grass Under The Sun
Many years later, I still often remember that day. The moment the lady was absent, they used their own warmth to warm and comfort it, turning it into our softest, most beautiful memory. During those years, I said countless "thank you" words, to To Van Nguyet, to Tan Tri Lam, and to many, many people later. But deep in our hearts, we understand clearly that there are weights, the word "thank you" that we cannot bear forever. That is not a favor from a superior, not a temporary, impulsive pity. Those were two young girls who were just as arrogant and bright, clumsily and sincerely reaching out to me. It was a beam of light that cut through the gloomy sky in my gray, barren girlhood years. From then on, no matter how many cold winter nights in life, just remember that afternoon in that dorm room, we will know how much we were appreciated and loved.

When I returned to the classroom, there were no more whispers around. We don't know if To Van Nguyet, Tan Tri Lam, or Giang Lam Phong acted. However, when walking around the hospital, people often point at us. But it's okay. Having such good friends, even if thousands of people spit on them, is still something worth receiving. At that time, we felt we were too low to deserve that. God suddenly gave three such good friends, I was even willing to give my life in exchange. Days go by like that. To Van Nguyet went abroad to study next year. Before leaving, she filled my incense bag with money.
"I can't use all of this, and I haven't paid back the previous amount yet..."
The edges of her eyes were slightly red, her voice still arrogant: "Who needs you to pay? Eat a little more, don't be as skinny as a blade of grass. Now it's good, you're a little fatter and whiter." Not long after, Giang Lam Phong was also sent by his family to study commerce. After all, he had to inherit the family business. On the day we broke up, he gave me a Hai Dong Thanh (Falcon).
"If you have any problem, please contact me. It's okay if your exam doesn't do well, at that time my young master will have your back."
Fortunately, Tan Tri Lam has not left yet. She said she wanted to compete with me for the title of champion of the Spring competition (Hoi Hoi exam). My results have been top every year, and she can no longer guide me. She immediately invited Tay Tich (a private teacher) in the palace every day after class to come and lecture the scriptures to both of them. I successfully passed the entrance exam for Quoc Tu Giam, and she also passed the exam with me. Together, the two of us prepared to become female officials in the future.
"Tieu Thao, we're still living together, we can still study together in the future."
I hugged her and thanked her over and over again. In the past few years, I have never returned to the Wen family, nor have I seen my wife again. But Giang Lam Phong often revealed to me his wife's medical condition. Her illness has improved a lot, and her family is looking for a very handsome husband who wants her to start a new life. Before entering Quoc Tu Giam, I still want to visit you once. Just looking from afar, knowing that people are safe, that's enough. I hesitated for a long time, and finally one early morning, I gingerly found the Wen family.

Squatting outside the hospital, I took forever to find one Through a small hole, we see the lady in a garden full of wallflowers. The person was wearing a long, soft, colorful dress, squatting and gently stroking a jumping puppy, with a calm smile - I had never seen someone smile like that before. Behind him was a middle-aged man with an elegant demeanor, holding a cup of tea, holding a soft handkerchief, his eyes always gently watching him, patient and considerate. That scene is so beautiful that it is not like this world. I clutched Quoc Tu Giam's admission notice tightly in my sleeve. That's good. Seeing people living well like that is enough. Just as I was about to turn around and leave, the back of my neck was suddenly hit hard, causing my whole body to momentarily go limp. Before losing consciousness, I only felt myself being roughly lifted up by someone and stuffed into the carriage. When I woke up again, I discovered I was in a desolate open-air courtyard, tied tightly to a wooden post. Under the dim light, a strange teenager stood before me, his eyes sinister. Without saying a word, he raised his hand and slapped me hard in the face. Burning pain flared up on my cheeks - it had been many years since anyone had hit me, this slap immediately reminded me of Lam Dai Dung. He's dead, but whenever I remember those days, I still can't help but tremble.
“Who are you?” There was a ringing in my ears and I asked in a hoarse voice.
"I am your wife's son. This is your brother."
Your son? After a moment of shock, I saw his face clearly - there were indeed some similarities to the man in the garden.
“Why did you arrest me?” Cold air runs up from the soles of the feet.
Bui Canh seemed to have just heard an extremely ridiculous story, his voice suddenly became shrill: "Isn't it good for you to die out there? Why do you have to come back? Why do you have to appear in front of her, appear in front of my father!"
"I don't! I just want to look at you from afar..." I quickly explained.
“Shut up!” He interrupted with a stern voice, his eyes like a venomous snake, "A mixed race will always be a mixed race. Do you even deserve to call her ma'am? I tell you, after my father and that woman get married, everything that belongs to the Wen family will be mine! I absolutely will not allow anyone - especially a dirty blood type like you, to ruin my plans and rob me of my things!"
My whole body is cold.
"You dare! If you dare to harm me, I will not forgive you as a ghost!"
Bui Canh smiled coldly, bent down to pick up a rusty iron bar, tapped it in the palm of his hand, step by step approaching me. Darkness completely swallowed me.
“Okay, then you should try being a ghost first.”
