Chapter 13 — Marriage Is A Trap

Updated 10/08/2026 4 min read

I sent the article to Lam Kha.

“Post to my official account.”

“Three o'clock this afternoon.”

Lam Kha hesitated.

“This post will definitely be interpreted as her responding to that attack.”

"I know."

“If so, public opinion will explode even more.”

“Are you ready?”

I looked at the bright white computer screen.

“The war of public opinion has never been won by avoidance.”

“Or stay silent until the end.”

“Or directly reveal the truth.”

“I choose the second way.”

At three o'clock in the afternoon, the article was posted. An hour later, the number of reads exceeded 100,000. Two hours later, the first important comment appeared in the comments section. An anonymous account wrote:

"I once met the exact same type of person in the article. She used to work at our company. Her initials are FY."

That comment was quickly pushed to the top. Right below, more and more people began to expose the scandal. Someone said they had encountered a similar incident in another city. Some people say their friend is the victim. Which is most notable… Is another comment.

"I used to be a former employee of Hang Vien Real Estate. The tricks in the article... are exactly the same as what I witnessed that year. The divorce of our company's CEO is directly related to this type of woman."

At eight o'clock in the evening, the "Emotional Truth" account silently deleted the post attacking me. No explanation. No sorry. Simply wipe clean. But the screenshots went everywhere. Tan Loc sent a message.

“Just now, Phuong Dao called Luc Canh Tham.”

“He refused to answer the phone.”

“How do you know?”

“Luc Canh Tham proactively contacted me.”

I raised my eyebrows slightly.

"He said he read your article and saw the comments that exposed the scandal."

“He wants to know Phuong Dao's real background.”

“Do you want to know now?”

“Better late than never knowing.”

Tan Loc sent another sentence.

“He said one more thing.”

“‘Have I been tricked?’”

I put down the phone and looked at the night outside the window. Luc Canh Tham. What he was deceived... was not just feelings. His ability to judge was deceived. Even marriage. Whole career. But it wasn't until today... that I started to have doubts. The phone vibrated again. Co Dien's message.

“Very good article.”

“But next, Phuong Dao may end up pulling the fence together.”

"Careful."

Immediately followed by a second message.

“The capital withdrawal from Hang Vien has been completed.”

“Vuong Chi Cuong is very angry.”

“He placed all the responsibility on Phuong Dao.”

A third message appeared in succession.

“Are you free tomorrow?”

“This time it's not an invitation to dinner.”

“But there is something I want to show you.”

The next afternoon, I met Co Dien in an office building in the city center. Not your office. Just a normal meeting room. There's only you inside. On the table is a brown paper file bag.

“Miss To, please sit down.”

I pulled out a chair and sat down. Co Dien pushed the file bag towards me.

“This is all of Phuong Dao's background information.”

I opened the file bag. Inside were several sets of documents, several screenshots and a notarized transcript. I turned the pages one by one. Phuong Dao. Old name is Phuong Tieu Dao. Thirty-one years old. Graduated from college in marketing. My first job after graduating was as a salesperson for a beauty spa. There, she met her first target. A small company owner. Married. Forty-six years old. The relationship lasted eight months. The end result was that the man divorced her and gave her 500,000 yuan. The second relationship is with Vuong Chi Cuong. Longer time. One and a half years. After the divorce, he gave her 1,200,000 yuan and an apartment. The third clue... is Luc Canh Tham. But what really concerns me is not those things. Which is a segment of the call record. Recording of the conversation between Phuong Dao and Vuong Chi Cuong. Recording date was last week. Phuong Dao:

“Brother Chi Cuong, help me release that article.”

Vuong Chi Cuong:

“It's okay to toss.”

“But you have to make sure you don't come to me again in the future.”

Phuong Dao:

“Then we still have to see your attitude.”

"Don't forget, that year when your wife rebelled and demanded a divorce, I was the one who helped you handle those books."

“Do you really think I didn't keep a copy?”

Vuong Chi Cuong:

“Are you threatening me?”

Phuong Dao laughed softly.

“I'm not threatening you.”

“I just feel… we are grasshoppers on the same string.”

“You help me… you are also helping yourself.”

The other side was silent for a few seconds. Vuong Chi Cuong said in a deep voice:

“What do you want anyway?”

“Very simple.”
