Chapter 1 — My First Time as a Kept Pet, All I Want Is a Yadea

Being a pampered songbird for the first time, I found that suddenly transitioning from poverty to wealth left me completely without a guide. My benefactor asked me what I wanted. I opened my mouth and asked for a vehicle. He gave a cold, scornful laugh and sneered:

"Do you want a Maserati or a Ferrari?"

I replied earnestly: "A Yadea electric scooter."

My benefactor fell silent. He tossed me a secondary credit card, clearly intent on teaching me how to spend money properly. I turned around and immediately spent twelve yuan and eighty cents to buy four pairs of underwear. As a result, the bank called him to ask if his card had been stolen and was being used fraudulently. My benefactor could no longer contain himself.

"Has no one told you that splurging is a virtue for a songbird like you?"

"Even if you spent money every single second, you could never keep up with the speed at which I earn it."

"So, please, could you try acting a bit more arrogant and extravagant?"

"Everything is covered by me, so just leave the worrying to me."

The man named Lu Diem had originally set his sights on my younger sister. If she had only agreed, fifty million would have been transferred to my father's account immediately. But that very evening, my sister grabbed all the cash in the house, jumped onto my electric scooter, and fled. I stared at the empty charging port, pacing in circles, anxious. The cash in the house totaled only a few thousand at most; how far could she possibly get on that? If she had just told me beforehand, I could have borrowed more money to help her. My father arrived, pacing in circles right alongside me. Tomorrow, the debt collectors were coming to our door. If they didn't see the money, they would start slicing pieces off him. My father was a gambling addict, but people always said he had a knack for luck. It was just that my sister and I both happened to have decent faces. His eyes darted around, eventually landing on me.

"You two sisters look the same. Those rich men only care about looks anyway. If I send you over, Lu Diem surely won't have any objections."

"Once you've done it the first time, you'll get used to it. You aren't inexperienced in love, so stop acting so high and mighty."

The "first man" my father mentioned—strictly speaking, he was actually my first boyfriend. He treated me very well. But... well, never mind. I didn't refuse. Knowing my father's nature, if I said no, he would likely drag those vicious debt collectors to the ends of the earth to track down my sister. She hadn't gone far yet. I couldn't let her be found like that.

02

Do not put on a show of pretense. I kept my father's words firmly in mind. So, when Lu Diem kissed me until my lips split, I did not cry. When he turned on the lights, refusing to let me cover my eyes, I did not cry. By the end, when my entire body felt as though it had been torn in two, I bit my lip and still did not cry. Fortunately, Lu Diem had no complaints about me stepping in as a substitute for my sister. This made me heave a silent sigh of relief. Deep in the night, Lu Diem, looking satisfied, leaned against the headboard to light a cigarette.

"You are such a good girl, not a single sound."

"Do you not intend to ask me for anything?"

I was so exhausted I could barely keep my eyes open. Drowsily, I remembered my little electric scooter that had been ridden away. Lu Diem's home was in a luxury villa district. In the future, I wouldn't be able to walk out to buy food. Besides, I had read in novels that these rich men were fickle and grew bored quickly. The novelty of me would last at most a month. I had to squeeze a significant amount out of him! So, I forced myself to stay awake and said:

"I want... a vehicle."

He gave a cold laugh, his eyes immediately tinged with mockery. With a tone that suggested "I knew it," he pinched my chin.

"A Maserati or a Ferrari?"

I lifted my eyes, answering with firm conviction: "A Yadea."

Lu Diem: "?" After thinking for a moment, I added, "I want a used one. The new standard electric scooters are too slow."

Lu Diem: "..." Seeing him remain silent, I assumed my wealthy benefactor had never seen a two-wheeled vehicle, so I continued to describe it: "An electric scooter, do you know what that is? It is the two-wheeled kind—you just twist the throttle and it zooms forward."

Lu Diem suddenly gave a very strange laugh. "An electric scooter, are you sure?"

Of course. This was the result of very careful consideration. Asking for anything else wouldn't be practical. If I could secure an electric scooter, then after Lu Diem inevitably dumped me, I could at least work as a delivery driver.

"I'm sure. Lu Diem, thank you."

I raised my head and kissed his cheek. This was something I had learned from a crash course manual for songbirds. It said that after receiving a gift, one should kiss the giver, and then... ride something? I couldn't quite remember what. Never mind, this would suffice. I was so tired; I was so sleepy.

03

After the kiss, I drifted off to sleep. When I woke up the next day, Lu Diem was already gone. A new phone was sitting on the nightstand. Aside from Lu Diem’s contact information, there was nothing else on it. Just then, the phone chimed. [Message me once you are awake.] I did not dare to delay. [Hello, Boss! I am awake.] Lu Diem: [...] [The fifty million has been transferred. The vehicle is outside the door. The phone is linked to my secondary card; buy whatever you want. If there is nothing urgent, don't message me, I am very busy. But if you truly miss me, you can message me, and I will try to reply.] How generous. This year, a boss who doesn't owe back pay is truly a good boss. [Thank you, Boss!] I carefully selected an animated gif of a blooming lotus flower and sent it. Lu Diem was silent for a long time. Finally, he replied with just one word: "Understood." I was just about to throw off the covers and head out to see my new ride, but a chilly sensation from below made me recoil instantly. I remembered now. Yesterday, Lu Diem had been so impatient that he had torn my underwear to shreds. Now, in my suitcase, there was only one pair left for me to change into. It was an underwear emergency. I hurriedly opened the shopping app.
