Chapter 4
Chapter 4 — My House Is 42 Degrees Hot, Turns Out It's A Horrifying Plot
“I can't call the police for now.”
Luu Phuong's eyes immediately flared up with hope. As for Mr. Ly, he looked at me in confusion.
“Sister, you…”
I raised my hand to signal him to calm down. Then continued to look at Luu Phuong.
“But I have the conditions.”
“First, right now, immediately stop all devices in your house.”
“I want my apartment temperature to return to normal.”
“Second, compensation for all electricity bills for the past two years, mental damage and all expenses incurred because of my move.”
“Third, I want to meet Vuong Cuong.”
“I want him to talk to me personally.”
“I also want to see what kind of character he is.”
After I finished speaking, the whole room fell silent. Luu Phuong looked at me bewildered. It seemed like she didn't expect me to make such requests. Perhaps she thought that if she threatened me in Vuong Cuong's name, I would be scared and obediently obey. But she was wrong. My personality is soft and I don't eat it, and I'm hard and I don't eat it. The more threatened I am, the more I want to fight to the end. Right when the atmosphere was suffocatingly quiet. Luu Phuong's phone suddenly rang. The shrill sound of the bell echoed in the empty room. She glanced at the screen. His face immediately turned whiter than a sheet of paper. Trembling, he held up the phone for me to see. Two words clearly appeared on the screen: Luu Phuong's hand holding the phone trembled like a leaf in the autumn wind. She pressed the listen button and turned on the speakerphone. A low, cold male voice rang out from the other end of the line.
“Where are you?”
“I... I'm at home.”
Luu Phuong's voice trembled clearly.
"Why did you remotely check and see that the server temperature was abnormal? Did someone touch the cooling system?"
The man's voice suddenly rose, full of questioning and oppression. Cold sweat immediately broke out on Luu Phuong's forehead.
"No... not at all. Maybe... maybe it's just too hot."
“Too hot?”
The man smiled coldly.
“Do you think I'm a three-year-old child?”
“I tell you, Luu Phuong, if there is any problem with the server, I will make your life worse than death.”
“I'll be right back.”
The call was rudely interrupted. The room fell into dead silence. The phone slipped from Luu Phuong's hand and fell to the floor, making a crisp sound. Her whole body was weak, her eyes only showed despair. Uncle Ly frowned, lowered his voice and said to me:
“Sister, I don't think this guy is the kind type.”
“Or we should call the police first and let them handle it.”
Coming to this country, reporting to the police is of course an option. But I also understand very well. Once the police intervene, things will become extremely complicated. Collect evidence. That whole process will cost me countless time and effort. More importantly, like what Luu Phuong just said. A person who dares to do something like this, if cornered, will likely do even more extreme things. I don't want my new life, which has just begun, to be overshadowed by constant litigation and fear of retaliation. I need a more thorough solution. More direct. I must have something strong enough to make that man submit before he returns. I turned my head to look at him.
“I need you guys to help me with something.”
Uncle Ly bewildered.
“Sister just keep talking.”
“You guys are professional house movers.”
“I guess it won't be too difficult for you guys to unlock it, right?”
I pointed to the ceiling.
“I want to go upstairs and take a look.”
Uncle Ly's eyes immediately lit up. He immediately understood what I meant.
“No problem!”
He patted his chest in assurance.
“In our team there is a mechanic who used to specialize in unlocking locks.”
“There isn't a lock in this building that he can't open.”
“Brothers, prepare your tools!”
As soon as Uncle Ly shouted, several workers immediately took out all kinds of tools from the toolbox. Luu Phuong looked at us in horror.
“Everyone... what are you going to do?”
"This is illegally entering someone else's home! It's illegal!"
I walked in front of her. Looking down from above.
“Breaking the law?”
“Compared to what your husband does, at most we just go to the neighbor's house for a friendly visit.”
“Now you have two choices.”
“One, open the door yourself and let us in.”
“Two, we opened the door ourselves and entered.”
Luu Phuong's lips trembled. But couldn't say a word. She knows. I no longer have any choice. The whole group of us left the apartment one after another. The moving workers surrounded me like a team of bodyguards. Luu Phuong walked absent-mindedly at the end. We stopped in front of the always closed anti-theft door upstairs. This is the origin of everything. I even felt the heat creeping through the door.
“Let's start, uncle.”
I told the locksmith. He nodded. Taking out a sophisticated set of tools from his pocket. Less than thirty seconds. Just heard a very soft "click" sound. The anti-theft door that we thought was extremely sturdy... The moment the door was pushed open. A terrible heat rushed straight into my face. Accompanied by the characteristic ozone smell of continuously operating electronic devices. We were all dumbfounded. He was so surprised by the scene before him that he was speechless.
