Chapter 3
Chapter 3 — Reborn and Surprised the Regent King
I wear a dark red robe. The head is covered with a red veil. The lady happily helped me step onto the palanquin. During the whole process, we did not see Phong Quyet. When it was time to worship, the King was still not present, so I could only complete the worshiping ceremony alone. The servant said that the Royal Family had important matters in mind and could not return in time. I don't care. That's better. It also eliminates a lot of unnecessary trouble. On the night of the wedding ceremony, I sat alone on a bed spread with peanuts and dried longans, waiting quietly. It wasn't until midnight that the room door made a "creaking" sound and was pushed open. A strong smell of blood mixed with cold alcohol vapor immediately rushed in front of me. I raised my hand to lift the red veil. Finally saw my newlywed husband, Phong Quyet. He wore a dark-black plain clothes. There were still dark red blood stains on the clothes that had faded. Apparently he had just returned from a place that looked like Asura hell. He is very tall. Straight figure. The five senses are deep and sharp as if carved by a carving knife. Those dark eyes were so calm that it was scary. It's like being able to see through people's hearts with just one look. This is Phong Quyet. The Regent King made the entire Dai Liang dynasty change their faces in fear when they heard his name. He walked over to the table. Pour yourself a cup of wine. Then tilt your head back and drink it all in one gulp.
“Miss Shen.”
He opened his mouth. The voice was low and hoarse, carrying a cold feeling like metal colliding.
“What does she want?”
He goes straight to the point, without any unnecessary sentences. I like that kind of straightforwardness.
“I want power in the hands of the Royal Family.”
I also answered frankly like that. He slightly raised his eyebrows, seemingly a bit surprised by my honesty. He put down the wine cup, walked in front of me, looking down from above.
“What do you want power for?”
His eyes carried a strong sense of oppression. But we never backed down. I looked straight into his eyes and slowly said word by word:
“Revenge, and also keep the entire Tham family safe and sound.”
In Phong Quyet's eyes, there was finally a trace of wavering. He looked at me silently for a long time. It took so long that I thought he would refuse. But he only uttered those two words. In my heart, I breathed a sigh of relief. He continued to say:
“From today, she is the Regent Princess.”
“Do well what you should do, don't let this king lose face.”
“It's natural.”
I nodded. He paused for a moment and then added, "Just stay calm, don't touch thoughts you shouldn't have." I understand what he means. He thought that I was like other women, racking my brains to find ways to marry him, what they were aiming for was just the favor and status that he could bestow. I smiled softly.
“Your Majesty, rest assured.”
“This heart of mine died a long time ago.”
“What I want, from beginning to end, is only power.”
Those words seemed to make him very satisfied. He nodded slightly. Then turn around and walk towards the exterior.
“You should rest early.”
“King.”
I called him back. His steps stopped. He turned his head to look at me. There was some scrutiny and a mocking smile in his eyes.
“Miss Shen still wants a marriage Is it both a title and a reality?
I shook my head. Then from under the pillow, she took out something that had been prepared in advance and held it towards him.
“I just want to ask the King to help me with something.”
Phong Quyet received it and opened it. Inside is a list. On it are listed the names of several officials in the court along with evidence of their embezzlement, bribery, and violations of the law. The person at the top of the list is Co Than's father, Tran Quoc Cong. Phong Quyet's eyes immediately became sharp.
“Where did you get these from?”
“The Prince doesn't need to know that.”
I replied calmly.
“I only know that these people are followers of Tran Quoc Cong.”
"If we uproot them, it will only be beneficial for the Royal family to strengthen their power in the court, not harmful."
In my previous life, in order to help Co Than, I spent a lot of effort researching the situation at court. These evidences are the result that it took us three years to quietly collect. Originally, I wanted to use them to pave the way for Co Than. Unexpectedly, today, they will become the launching ceremony that I offer to Phong Quyet.
