Chapter 6
Chapter 6 — Reliving Before the University Exam, I Tear Up the Conspiracy to Steal Direct Admissions
"Do you have to retort every word like that?" Teacher Chu lowered his voice. "The principal said, if you continue to make a big deal out of it, the school will reevaluate your moral qualities in your direct admission application."
I picked up the phone and laughed softly.
"Are you threatening me?"
The other end of the line immediately replied:
"Not a threat."
"Just a reminder."
I calmly said:
"Then I wouldn't mind repeating it to the principal."
"Quality assessment records must be based on facts."
"If the school dares to falsify records..."
"I will also report to the police."
Teacher Chu was so angry that he gasped twice.
"To Duong, you will regret it."
I hung up the phone and looked up at the national emblem hanging in front of the police station gate. In my previous life... I was too afraid of regret. Afraid that Hua Niem Niem will miss the exam. Fear of disappointing teachers. I'm afraid my classmates will say I'm cold-blooded. I'm afraid that my grandmother will be frowned upon by people. I bear everyone's consequences on my shoulders. In the end... No one would bear the burden for me even for a second. The phone vibrated slightly. Khuong Tuyet sent me a photo. In front of the principal's office, Hua's mother was sitting on the ground crying, Hua Niem Niem stood beside her supporting her, and Mr. Chu and the principal stood right behind. In the corner of the photo, a corner of Hua's mother's handbag revealed a white file bag. Khuong Tuyet message:
"Is this bag the same as the one you just asked me about?"
I zoomed in on the photo, looking closely at the exposed corner of the bag. Printed with the blue logo of Hai Thanh University. I immediately bought a ticket for the latest bus of the day to return to Van Xuyen. Ms. Luong saw me off to the bus station and stuffed two tea eggs in her backpack.
"Don't be hungry. Even if you argue, you have to have strength."
I smiled.
"Thank you, Ms. Luong."
She stared at me.
"You didn't come back to stand still and be scolded, right?"
"Not."
"Okay then. If anyone hits you, hit back. If you can't fight back, just scream. I know some long-distance drivers, everyone has a very loud voice."
I laughed. After laughing, I carefully put the two tea eggs in my backpack. By the time we returned to Van Xuyen, it was already nine o'clock in the evening. Khuong Tuyet stood waiting in front of the school gate. As soon as she saw me, she immediately scolded me:
"You're finally willing to go home! This afternoon Hua's mother acted just like on stage, crying and saying you wanted to ruin her daughter's life. The principal said you have to go to your office tomorrow morning."
I just ask:
"Where's the bag?"
Khuong Tuyet replied:
"I was about to take a clearer picture but Teacher Chu blocked it."
"After that, Hua's mother hugged the bag as if it were gold inside."
The two of us entered the dormitory through the side door. The dormitory manager was shocked when she saw me, then immediately closed the door tightly.
"To Duong, why are you back? Tonight, Hua Niem Niem's parents even came to ask if you were home yet."
"Miss, I want to see the hallway camera."
The manager looked awkward.
"The camera cannot be shown arbitrarily."
Khuong Tuyet was impatient.
"Miss, they have bullied To Duong to this extent."
The manager pulled out the drawer and took out a piece of paper.
"I can't show you two the camera, but I can tell you."
"Yesterday after you left, someone came into your dorm room."
"This is the register."
On the paper, Hua's mother's name was clearly written. Check-in time is 2:12 p.m.
"What did she come in for?"
The manager lowered her voice.
"Grandma He told Niem Niem to forget the medicine in the room so he went in to get it."
"When she came out, she was actually holding a white bag in her hand."
"When I asked, she said there was medicine inside."
Khuong Tuyet slammed on the table.
"What medicine has the Hai Thanh University logo printed on the package?"
The manager's expression immediately changed.
"You two, don't tell me I'm telling you."
I took a photo of the registration form.
"Thank you."
"You didn't do anything wrong."
When I returned to the dorm room... Hua Niem Niem was sitting on my previous bed, her head bowed, searching for something. My bed has been made. Only the mirror remains. Hearing the door open, the phone in her hand almost fell to the ground.
"To Duong?"
"Why did you come back?"
Khuong Tuyet immediately rushed forward.
"What are you doing searching To Duong's bed?"
Hua Niem Niem quickly stood up.
"Let me see if I missed my error summary here."
I looked at her.
"I cleaned it all up yesterday."
"That's why I wanted to see if there was anything left." She bit her lip. "Don't just come back and look at me with those eyes. I lost my things, I'm also very impatient."
Khuong Tuyet smirked.
"You were impatient so you went to search someone else's bed?"
"Is your family the founder of the profession of searching people's belongings?"
Hua Niem Niem's eyes turned red again.
"Khuong Tuyet, why do you always aim at me?"
"I know you're close to To Duong."
"But I'm also the victim."
I walked in front of her.
"Hua Niem Niem."
"Where is the white file bag?"
She paused.
"What file bag?"
"Confirmation of direct admission from Hai Thanh University."
