Chapter 4
Chapter 4 — She pretended to be pitiful, she pretended to be innocent
Early in the morning, as soon as I pushed open the door, I saw Xuan Dao running in panic.
“Miss, the king is here!”
I rinsed my mouth with a mouthful of water, almost spitting it out.
“That king, waiting in the lobby!”
I squinted my eyes, thinking to myself, this man had just given Kim Sang medicine yesterday, and came to the door early this morning, it was definitely not a good thing.
“Okay, I'll go meet him.”
I leisurely changed into a simple outfit, intentionally not tying my hair, just letting it loose and then going straight to the lobby. Tieu Canh Hanh was holding a cup of tea in his hand. When he saw me walk in, his eyebrows furrowed slightly, almost imperceptibly.
"Your Highness has arrived, what advice do you have?"
I leaned back in the chair, my posture was casual, not maintaining any image. He put down the tea cup, his eyes stopped at the wound on my forehead.
“Is the wound okay?”
"Thanks to the king's blessing, I haven't died yet."
I smiled and narrowed my eyes in response. The air seemed to freeze for a moment. Tieu Canh Hanh suddenly spoke up.
“Exam Tri Y.”
“You have never talked to this king like this before.”
My heart twitched slightly, but my face didn't show it at all, instead I tilted my head and smiled lightly.
“So before, was I very boring?”
He stared at me, his eyes searching.
“Your words have been so sharp lately, have you been stimulated?”
I pretended to be thoughtful and sighed softly.
“Maybe when I fell into the water, the water in my head also poured out.”
“I advise Liu Zifei to try it once.”
Tieu Canh Hanh was silent. Next to him, Butler Ly tried to hold back his laughter until his face turned red. Tieu Canh Hanh did not answer me, but instead suddenly asked:
“Do you still remember the day of our wedding, what clothes did you wear?”
My heart twitched slightly. This is testing me. In the original owner's memory there was indeed this passage, but I deliberately pretended to be naive. His eyes lowered.
"It's a knitted phoenix robe in the color pink."
“So I must have remembered wrongly.”
My face remained calm.
"Anyway, I was wearing a headscarf that day. I couldn't see anything."
Tieu Canh Hanh looked at me and suddenly threw another question:
“Before marrying into the royal palace, what did you like to eat the most?”
I searched my mind for the original owner's memories and leisurely replied:
“Flower waffles.”
He smiled coldly.
“Since childhood, she has not eaten sweets.”
It's over, is it exposed? I blinked and suddenly smiled.
“Your Majesty really remembers.”
"Then surely you still remember that the day I married into the royal palace, you left without even drinking the wine?"
Tieu Canh Hanh's face froze. I took advantage of the victory and rushed forward.
“So you came to check on me today because you suddenly discovered that this princess who has been ignored for two years turns out to be quite interesting?”
His eyes suddenly darkened and he suddenly stood up. I raised my head to look at him, not backing down.
“King.”
“Instead of doubting whether I have become someone else or not.”
"If you think about it, why would you rather believe Lieu Nhu Yen's tears than believe the words of your own princess?"
Tieu Canh Hanh stared at me. After a while, he suddenly let out a cold laugh.
“Tham Tri Y, your courage is really big.”
I shrugged.
“If someone has died once, their liver will naturally grow.”
His eyes moved slightly, as if he wanted to say something, but in the end he just said turn around and leave. Walking to the door, he suddenly turned around.
“There is a banquet in the palace tonight.”
“You follow me.”
I was stunned.
“Don't embarrass this king.”
Having finished speaking, he strode away without looking back. As soon as Tieu Canh Hanh disappeared, Xuan Dao quickly ran in, his face pale.
“Miss, how dare you talk to the royal family like that!”
I calmly stuffed a piece of cake into my mouth, chewed and answered lightly.
"What are you afraid of? He won't eat me."
“But…”
“Ah yes.”
I interrupted her.
"What's going on at the palace banquet?"
As soon as Xuan Dao heard about this matter, he immediately became alert.
"It's a lunar reward banquet organized by the Queen Mother."
"In previous years, the person who accompanied the royal family to the banquet was Liu Zifei."
I raised my eyebrows slightly.
“So why did it change to me this year?”
Xuan Dao lowered his voice and leaned closer.
"I heard that Liu Zifei was grounded. She was so angry that she broke the whole porcelain room and even scolded people..."
“Scold me how?”
She hesitated a bit then spoke in a low voice.
"Scolding people... bewitches the superior."
I couldn't help but laugh.
“Did she misunderstand the word ‘enchantment’?”
"With my bare face like this, is there anything that resembles a fox spirit?"
Xuan Dao became even more worried.
"Miss, tonight is the palace banquet, Liu Zifei will definitely find a way to cause trouble..."
I patted her shoulder gently, my voice calm.
"No problem."
"When soldiers come, block them, when water comes, cover them."
Only later did we realize it. I'm still too naive.
