Chapter 2 — Six-in-One Sugar Baby

My second ex-husband clenched his teeth so hard that he nearly crushed the money in his hand. The men who came after him were all variations on the same story.

Whenever someone asked which ex-husband I liked best, my answer did not matter. Their expressions were always impossible to read. Men were truly difficult to understand.

After five painful precedents, I swore that I would not let the same tragedy happen again. I quickly withdrew my hand from Ta Tuy’s backside and filled my face with deep affection.

“I mean... your butt is different.”

“It has a special kind of loneliness that nobody else can see.”

“That’s right. Let me look at your abs.”

Ta Tuy: “...”

Over the next few days, I behaved myself. My ex-husbands had all complained that I was too forward, so I decided to make a few changes.

At the cinema, the couple in front of us kissed until their mouths made wet smacking sounds. In the past, I would definitely have taken advantage of the situation. This time, however, I sat upright and still as a mountain.

Ta Tuy was the one who looked hot and uncomfortable. He kept taking deep breaths, glancing at me as if he wanted to say something but could not bring himself to say it.

“What’s wrong? Are you hungry?”

I looked at his heaving chest in confusion. He drew another deep breath and mumbled something I could not make out.

I leaned around him and reached for the shopping bag beside his seat.

“There’s popcorn, potato chips, and fruit jelly...”

As I rummaged through the bag, I bent down and happened to press myself against his chest. I could not openly take advantage of him, but a little secret intimacy should be fine.

I deliberately brushed against him.

The reaction from the man beneath me was even stronger. He turned his face away, his ears red enough to drip blood.

I coughed twice and patted his shoulder.

“Don’t be nervous. I’m a respectable woman.”

Ta Tuy glared at me, embarrassed and furious.

The revolution had not yet succeeded. I had to keep working.

The next day, I dragged him to an escape-room game. The room was full of hidden mechanisms, and I screamed every time one of them moved.

Normally, that would have been the perfect opportunity to throw myself at my partner, feel the rhythm of his muscles, pat his backside, and kiss his cheek. This time, I stayed where I was.

Even though fear had made my arms and legs weak, I only pressed myself against the wall.

“Hurry up and solve it.”

I trembled in the corner, curled into a ball. Ta Tuy stood several yards away, his lips pressed into a straight line.

“I don’t know how.”

I looked at him skeptically. My five ex-husbands had solved puzzles like this in seconds. Ta Tuy, my current boyfriend, was starting to look rather unintelligent.

To show off my strong-girlfriend qualities, I gritted my teeth and moved forward.

“I’ll help you. Come closer and stand behind me. Protect me.”

Ta Tuy nodded as if he had been waiting for those words and immediately closed the distance between us. When he bent down, his breath nearly brushed my ear.

Wasn’t that a little too close?

I felt flustered, but forced myself to concentrate on the puzzle. The next second, a demon hand sprang out in front of him. With frightening sound effects and a chorus of screams, it grabbed my shirt.

My scalp went numb. I reflexively stumbled backward and almost fell. A large hand behind me caught me firmly around the waist, exactly as though he had expected it.

I was about to cry. At last, I gave up resisting, closed my eyes, and burrowed into his arms.

Ta Tuy’s breathing was unsteady, and his voice was hoarse.

“Are you scared?”

I nodded like a pecking chick.

“It’s real. I’m not pretending.”

I took his hand and placed it against my chest.

“I’m a respectable woman.”

A quiet laugh came from above my head. The hand around my waist tightened, then slid around the other side and pulled my entire body into his arms.

I put on an innocent expression.

“Heaven and earth can vouch for me.”

“It’s not as if I forced you. You were the one who took the initiative.”

He sighed.

“I know. You’re a respectable woman.”
