Chapter 12
Chapter 12 — Spring Falling On Red Dress
The Tang and Song families became in-laws. The paper was so thin that it seemed like it would tear with just one blow. "Thank you for me." "She told me to tell you that the red dress suits you very well." I smiled. "You should also wear brighter colors." Tong Bach Xuyen nodded. "I will pass on the message." That day, I was very late writing the interview. Van Chieu Da brought dumplings and hot soy milk to me. "Is it convenient at the conference hall?" "Convenient." He didn't ask further. The heat from the cup of soy milk rose, and outside the window, young willow branches were sprouting. I suddenly said: "Editor Van, are you free this weekend?" The manuscript in his hand paused. "Yes." "I want to go to the photo shop to take a photo." Van Chieu Da looked at me. "Wearing a red dress?" "Yes." He smiled. "I will help you line up." On the weekend, there were many people in front of the photo shop. I wore a red dress that had been patched and cotton shoes made by Tong's mother, standing in the spring breeze. The tear is sewn on the inside of the hem of the dress. When moving, sometimes I can still touch the indicator. Something that has been hurt doesn't need to pretend that it was never hurt. Being able to continue wearing it is a very good thing. The photographer told me to sit up straight. “Girl, smile a little.” In front of the camera, I saw several people standing outside the glass window. Tang Van Hoa hugged the book and waved at me. Tong's mother carried a basket of food and nodded from afar. Van Chieu Da stood under the porch, holding my cloth bag in his hand. Further away, Tong Bach Xuyen was passing through the street. He stopped for a moment and then quickly left. Don't step forward. Do not disturb. The moment the shutters were pressed down, spring sunlight fell on the red dress. The photographer poked his head out from under the black cloth. “Done, next person.”(End)
