Chapter 2
Chapter 2 — Ten Pounds of Shrimp, Breaking a Marriage Life
On the third day, I woke up early in the morning and personally chose to buy five pounds of shrimp. Before leaving, she told her mother-in-law very carefully that the boy had been waiting for several days, so today she must definitely let him eat. She nodded repeatedly, telling me to rest assured and go to work. In the afternoon, she called me to ask if I would come home for dinner and leave some shrimp behind. I said I had to work overtime so the two kids could eat. But for some reason, I kept thinking about it in my heart. I keep thinking about the scene of my son hiding under the blanket and secretly crying. I couldn't stand it anymore, so I asked my boss to take a break for two hours and rushed home. As soon as the door opened, the scene before my eyes made me explode. Father-in-law sat watching TV. Vuong Quyen and Tong Anh Due laughed happily and sat down to play games. The five pounds of shrimp I bought... were boiled white, filled a large pot, and placed in front of Tinh Tinh. The girl ate each one with joy. My son was standing next to the table, sucking his hand, staring with red, hungry eyes. Seeing him looking, Tinh Tinh immediately pulled the shrimp pot back, swung her hand and slapped the boy straight in the face.
"Don't look at my shrimp! Are you a reincarnated starving animal? Do you have the right to eat delicious food?"
As he spoke, he deliberately ate slowly, teasingly. The boy couldn't bear it anymore, he raised his hand to reach for the pot. Before he could touch her, Tinh Tinh cried loudly and turned around to call:
"Grandma! It stole my shrimp!"
My mother-in-law came out of the kitchen with a shovel and shouted straight at my son:
“Eat, eat, eat whatever you want!”
The boy's tears rolled around:
“Grandma… I also want to eat shrimp…”
She comforted Tinh Tinh and kicked him aside.
"Are you a reincarnated starving thing? You dare to compete with my sister? This whole pot belongs to your sister! If you dare to compete, I will kill you!"
Having someone's back makes Tinh Tinh even more proud. He threw all the shrimp shells to my child.
"Do you want to eat? Eat it, the peel is for you."
The mother-in-law also conveniently gave the shrimp head to the boy, smiling and saying:
"See, how good I am to you. Shrimp shells are very good for calcium, eat them."
The boy refused to eat and cried for shrimp meat. She immediately got angry, beat his butt repeatedly, then roughly squeezed his mouth and stuffed a bunch of shrimp shells and shrimp heads into it.
"Why does the Song family raise a greedy pig like you? If you don't compete with my sister's things, will you die?"
Just like your mother, nothing. Why don't you two just die already? I stood there… unable to believe what I was seeing. You must know that since I was a child, my child has been under her care. She used to cherish it like a treasure, the most loved in the house. Yet just because of a cousin... Can she treat her own nephew like that? I can't stand it anymore. I rushed in, kicked her straight down to the ground, and conveniently pulled Tinh Tinh off the chair. Each person was kicked and slapped a few times, causing their mouths to distort. Still not angry yet. I grabbed the remaining shrimp shells and shrimp heads and stuffed them straight into their mouths.
"Eat it! Isn't shrimp shell very nutritious? Why don't you eat it?"
"Three days, ten pounds of shrimp! All destroyed by two unscrupulous people like you!"
"You still dare to call my child a starving child? I think you two are the ones who were born without teaching, disgusting things! When you were born, why didn't you just throw them in the landfill?"
At this point, the three adults in the house who had been pretending to be dead for a while now regained their senses and rushed to pull me out. I'm so angry that I'm crazy. During the struggle, I scratched Vuong Quyen's face and stepped on it Tong Anh Due's danger, he also stabbed his father-in-law's chest, almost causing him to faint on the spot. When she was out of breath and calmed down, her mother-in-law looked at the devastated room and sat down on the ground, screaming.
"What karma did I create to have to endure this! Having worked so hard raising my grandchildren, now being bullied by my daughter-in-law... I would rather die!"
I adjusted my messy hair and asked coldly:
"So do I need to report it to the police? Let the police and neighbors come and decide clearly?"
"You... are truly a troublemaker! How could the Song family choose a woman like you!" My father-in-law was so angry that he couldn't breathe.
Vuong Quyen also jumped out, hugged his face and criticized me:
"It's just a little shrimp, but you make such a big deal out of it. Don't you feel embarrassed? Why did my brother marry a selfish person like you?"
I smiled coldly:
"So we should marry someone like you? Having an affair in marriage, being lazy, being a glutton, causing trouble wherever you go, being kicked out by your husband's family and then shamelessly staying in someone else's house to be a freeloader?"
Vuong Quyen choked, hugged Tong Anh Due's hand, and asked him to teach me. Tong Anh Due was kicked in a dangerous place by me, sitting on the sofa in a cold sweat. Even so, he still pointed his finger at me and said:
“Giang Duong, you are too much!”
I pulled my trembling son behind me and looked straight at him.
“And you.”
"People stood right in your house, right in front of you, bullying your son, yet you still smiled like nothing, not even daring to say a word."
"Tong Anh Due, I'm really blind... to see such a useless man like you."
Seeing that the whole family was working together but still couldn't argue with me, my mother-in-law immediately changed her strategy. She sat down on the ground, crying and holding all the blame on herself. He said he loved his niece who didn't have a father, so she favored Tinh Tinh. As for shrimp shells... she honestly thinks it's good for calcium, and growing children should eat more of it. The meaning in the words is clearly... I don't know anything. During these years of living together, I have never had conflicts with her. Every time I wanted to reason, she would sit down and cry, complaining that she was useless, couldn't make money, wasn't educated, so she was hated by her daughter-in-law. Because I was busy with work and saw that she took very good care of Da Da, every time I went down to apologize. Then he also bought gold bracelets, nutritious food, red envelopes... Just those things, most of which ended up in Vuong Quyen's hands. This time too. She still used her old tricks, on the surface she was humble, but in reality she made her father-in-law and Tong Anh Due feel that she was wronged... and I became the troublemaker. Even Tong Anh Due sided with Vuong Quyen, forcing my son and I to apologize to both mother and son. Looking at the faces of this whole family... my thoughts of divorce rose to the extreme. I didn't say another word. That night, I took my son out to eat and ordered more than a dozen shrimp dishes. But in front of the food that the boy had been craving for days... He couldn't eat a single bite.
