Chapter 4
Chapter 4 — The Big Sister Returns
That year, you were willing to help me, so you can certainly save me now, right?
Just think of it as taking pity on me, Sister. Snow will turn over a new leaf and truly reform. I refuse to go back to herding cattle!
The entire production crew stood frozen in place for a long time, their minds entirely blank. When they finally snapped back to reality, they rushed to cut the live stream feed, but it was already too late. Viewer numbers had surged to the absolute top of the entire platform, creating an impenetrable wall of traffic that defied any attempt at termination. The entire internet was glued to the screen, watching Snow collapse in spectacular fashion. Public sentiment shifted overnight, the comment section transforming into a raging torrent of condemnation.
So she was an impostor all along? Stealing someone else's identity just to lord it over everyone here?
Were those bodyguards and drivers her biological parents? Her parents are clearly alive and well, yet she went around claiming she was an orphan since childhood? How can human beings reach such bottomless depths of shamelessness?
Today I finally learned what a supreme ingrate looks like. She ate the benefactor's food, leveraged the benefactor's connections, and spent the benefactor's money, yet the person she despised most in the world was the very same benefactor. Even the infamous traitor Qin Hui knew how to show gratitude, but Snow is truly despicable!
This ungrateful wolf must be permanently banned from the industry!
I lay flat on the cold ground while Song Hac Mien gently pressed an ice pack against the corner of my mouth, his movements as delicate as if he were handling a fragile piece of porcelain. Snow knelt before me, the knife wound on her cheek still oozing fresh blood while tears and snot streamed across her wretched face. I stared at her for a long time, so long that the live chat began to ripple with nervous anxiety.
She is not going to soften her heart, is she?
Do not waver, Sister!
A person like this is completely unworthy of mercy, ah, ah, ah!
I let out a cold, biting laugh.
In all my years, I, Ta Dan, have never misjudged a person, yet I never imagined I would take such a devastating fall at the hands of your entire family.
Nguu Hac Oa, the only reason I chose to sponsor you back then was because you looked so pitiful, and your eyes still possessed a semblance of purity.
Yet look at how you have morphed into this monster. Did the city lights blind you, or has this been your rotten nature all along?
Snow wept even more hysterically, her entire frame trembling like a winnowing basket.
Sister, I was wrong! I truly know I was wrong!
From now on I will never, ever again...
You no longer have any chances left.
I gazed down at her with chilling indifference.
Over the past few years, you have broken laws and relied on borrowed power to bully the vulnerable.
You crawled out of those remote mountains yourself, yet now you turn around and look down on country folk?
Do you find the name Nguu Hac Oa that utterly humiliating? But if you strip away the borrowed skin of Snow, what on earth do you have left?
Snow opened her mouth, unable to squeeze out a single syllable. Tan Thanh squatted down beside me and softly asked,
Sister Dan, how do you want to handle this?
Snow had always harbored the delusion that I had come here simply to rob her of her possessions. But she was dead wrong. Everything she possessed had been bestowed upon me in the first place, meaning I could take it back whenever I pleased. I spoke with absolute calm.
Calculate every single coin she has squandered over the years, and force her to pay it back, cent by cent.
She and her parents can pack their bags and return to the mountains. My household has no room for ingrates who bite the hand that feeds them and abuse power to terrorize others.
I paused for a brief moment before adding, Oh, and make sure she writes the three characters of her true name ten thousand times on a nationwide live broadcast.
Once she finishes writing, she can get lost. From this moment onward, she no longer has any connection to me whatsoever.
Snow knelt upon the barren earth, staring blankly at the pristine sheet of white paper, her entire body shaking uncontrollably. That humiliating name was something she had desperately tried to flee from for five long years. Yet now, she was forced onto her knees by others, compelled to slowly pick up the pen. The moment the tip touched the paper, her hand shook so violently that she tore the fragile sheet right through. The live chat flooded with cascading cheers.
Sister is mighty!
Others praised Tan Thanh and the rest of the young men for being utterly handsome and peerless younger brothers. When I caught those comments, I could not help rolling my eyes.
Peerless younger brothers my foot.
Tan Thanh, do the lot of you seriously think your own transgressions are any lighter than hers?
Throwing your weight around, hoarding resources, treating human lives like blades of grass. Do you all feel terribly majestic right now? Have you completely forgotten the lessons I hammered into you back then?!
I will ask you once more: are you going to let me beat you, or will you punish yourselves?
Tan Thanh and Co Van Khoi exchanged glances, then obediently dropped to their knees before me. Raising their hands, they began to slap their own faces with sharp, resounding cracks that echoed painfully through the air. Both the live audience and the onlookers at the scene fell into stunned silence.
From this day forward, Ta Dan is my only sister! Without her, who else could possibly treat us to the magnificent spectacle of eight powerful men kneeling and slapping their own faces?
Oh dear god, this is the ultimate sister-obsessed fan club. Just listening to those slaps makes my own cheek sting.
After they had subjected themselves to more than a dozen heavy slaps, I finally raised a hand to signal a halt. Bach Da, the youngest of the group and the most adept at acting spoiled, cast a pitiful, aggrieved glance in my direction.
Sister Dan, I am not trying to make excuses for us, but we honestly had no idea about the vile things Nguu Hac Oa was doing behind our backs.
Back then, we simply wanted to execute your instructions properly and look after her carefully, which was why we dispatched so many people to provide security.
As for those bullying incidents and whatnot, we were usually far too busy missing you to ever spare a single thought for her!
The remaining men nodded frantically in desperate agreement. Song Hac Mien looked at my injuries with heartbreaking tenderness.
Sister Dan, since your anger has cooled a bit, shall we finally leave this place?
