Chapter 5
Chapter 5 — The Cry to Save the Marquis Palace
He rushed to the lady's bed, red eyes and shouted:
“Ta Lenh Nghi, take back what you just said!”
“Otherwise no one can live in peace today!”
The tip of the knife pointed straight at the lady. The scream echoed throughout the room. As soon as Mrs. A hugged me back, she immediately bowed her head and covered my face with her sleeve. Right after that, an old but majestic voice rang out outside the door:
“I want to see who dares to touch my niece-in-law and great-granddaughter in the Marquis of Tran Bac Palace.”
07 The curtains were lifted by someone outside. Elder Luc walked in with an ebony cane. Her hair has turned white, but her spine is still straight. Following her were four of the most elite guards of the Marquis Palace. The sword in Master Mu's hand was still pointed at Mrs. Mu. But the moment he saw Old Thai Quan Luc, his wrists trembled. Old Thai Quan Luc's eyes fell on the tip of the knife. She said only one word:
“Caught.”
The guards acted almost simultaneously. Before Mr. Mu could react, his wrist was twisted backwards. The sword fell to the ground with a "bang". He cried out in pain. Old Lady Mu rushed to stop, but was held tightly by a woman.
“Let go of my son!”
“You Lu family are too disrespectful!”
The Sixth Elder walked in front of her. The tip of the stick hit the ground hard.
“Too much contempt for people?”
"You Mu family took advantage of my granddaughter-in-law's birth, swapped the Luc family's bloodline, and even dared to threaten her with a knife."
“If I hadn't arrived on time today, would you still be planning to say that it was the Luc family that forced you to rebel?”
Old Lady Mu's face turned pale. Mr. Mu was pressed to the ground, still unconvinced.
“Old man, words cannot be said like that.”
“This is just our family matter.”
The Luc old man smiled coldly.
“House matters?”
“The Luc family's daughter was almost sent to the Mu family's heavenly courtyard.”
"The Marquis of Tran Bac Palace was almost forced to death by you with a knife."
“Are you telling me, this is called a family matter?”
Patient Mu's forehead was sweating, he didn't dare to speak anymore. A Niang propped herself up and wanted to sit up to pray. Elder Luc quickly stepped forward and held her shoulder.
“You just gave birth, there's no need to move.”
She bowed her head and looked at me. Those old eyes, which were originally cold, gradually became soft when they fell on my face.
“This is my great-granddaughter?”
The lady's eyes turned red.
“Grandmother, it's her.”
“If it wasn't for him crying, I almost hugged the wrong child.”
Old Thai Quan reached out his hand to touch my eyebrows. I tried to open my eyes and look at her. In my previous life, when I was welcomed to the Marquis Palace, Old Lady Luc was seriously ill. She only met me once, holding my hand and saying that the Luc family had wronged me. Not long after, she passed away. From then on, there was no one left in the palace who could protect us. In this life, she is still standing in front of me. Her old but warm palm firmly placed on my forehead. The tip of my nose stung and I cried softly. Elder Luc immediately frowned.
“Why is her neck so red?”
A bowed her head, tears finally falling.
“They yanked the jade lock off her neck.”
The loving look in Luc Old Lady's eyes immediately disappeared. She turned around to look at Mrs. Mu.
"You pulled it down yourself?"
The old lady shrunk her neck.
“Not me.”
Chu ma ma knelt on the ground, her whole body shaking like a leaf. Old Thai Quan Luc's eyes swept over.
“So it's you.”
Chu ma ma lying in bed fell to the ground crying:
“The slave deserves to die, the slave is just temporarily confused.”
Old Thai Quan calmly said:
"Confused to the point of stealing the family's bloodline, confused to the point of forging letters, confused to the point of helping outsiders escape."
"Your confusion is more sober than many people."
Chu ma ma couldn't say another word. Father bent down to pick up the sword from the ground. The blade flashed cold light. His face became even more unsightly.
“This sword has been sealed.”
The old lady took it and looked over.
“Bringing a knife to barge into the delivery room of the Marquis Palace, according to the law, what should we do?”
The father said in a low voice:
“You can report it to Kinh Trieu Palace, or you can also send it directly to the Penal Department.”
Old lady Mu suddenly raised her head.
“No way!”
“Lanh Nghi, I am your biological mother.”
“Do you really want to stand by and watch your mother and senior brother be thrown into prison?”
The lady did not answer immediately. She bowed her head and looked at me. My small hand broke free of the diaper, just touching her cold fingertips. She trembled as if burned. Right after that, she took my hand.
“Mother asked me if I was cruel or not.”
“But when you swapped my daughter, did you ever have a moment when you couldn't bear it?”
Lady Mu's crying suddenly stopped. Mrs. A raised her eyes.
“Report to the official.”
As soon as the two words ended, Mrs. Mu immediately fell down and sat on the ground. Master Mu suddenly struggled again.
“Can't report to the officials!”
"Even reporting it to the officials is useless!"
“You have no evidence to prove that we planned it in advance.”
"Anyone can write that piece of paper. Chu ma ma can also be forced by you to confess his crime."
My father stepped on the back of his hand. Boss Mu was in so much pain that his face was distorted. But he still gritted his teeth and smiled.
“No matter how powerful your Marquis and Luc family are, you cannot torture and coerce confessions.”
"Besides, the child has already been changed, hasn't it?"
"If you really make a big deal out of it, the person whose reputation will be ruined will still be the Luc family's lady."
The air in the room immediately became extremely cold. These words are too cruel. A girl who had just been born was swapped by her maternal family, and ended up having to carry the chains of her reputation. Elder Luc slowly raised his cane. She did not hit Mr. Mu. Just turned to look at his father.
“Thua Chuong, pass on my words.”
“Open the hall, please invite the clan elders.”
“Then send people to Kinh Trieu Palace.”
“Today's matter will not be resolved privately, nor will it be hidden, nor will it save anyone's face.”
The father immediately received the order. Old lady Mu's face was as gray as ash. At this moment, someone suddenly came running outside. The man knelt outside the door, his voice trembling:
"Master Marquis, old lady, we caught someone at the back door."
“On his person he carries the lady's personal seal.”
A lady suddenly raised her head. The father's eyes also changed. Old Thai Quan Luc pounded his stick on the ground.
“Put it in.”
08 The person brought in was a small, skinny private. He wore the clothes of a servant who did heavy work in the Marquis' Palace, his face was covered with ash, but a piece of premium blue silk revealed at the cuffs. That's not the kind of cloth a servant could wear. The guard forced him to kneel on the ground. A packet of tar paper rolled out from his chest. Inside the oil paper package was a small white jade seal. As soon as A Nuong saw the seal clearly, her expression immediately changed. That is her personal seal. Dates are usually locked in the deepest layer of the jewelry box, only used when recording the dowry book or responding to the store clerk. Father picked up the seal and turned it over. The ink hasn't dried yet. Elder Luc asked in a low voice:
“Where does this seal come from?”
The little man's lips trembled.
“I don't know.”
The guard kicked him in the thigh. Tieu Tu lay down in pain.
“I really don't know.”
"It was Chu ma ma who gave it to me."
Chu ma ma suddenly raised her head.
“You talk nonsense!”
The little monk seemed very afraid of her, so he quickly backed away.
“It was she who gave it to me.”
“She told me to take her to the Mu family's carriage.”
“He also said that if he left the palace, he would give me twenty taels of silver.”
Old lady Mu immediately shouted:
“Spit on blood!”
“What does our Pastor need Linh Nghi's private seal for?”
