Chapter 1
Chapter 1 — The General's Blind Eyes Mistakenly Recognized the Widow's Door
On the night of the wedding, I wore a heavy, layered robe, and sat in the middle of a room covered in blessings of dragons and phoenixes all night long. It wasn't until dawn that my husband, the youngest major general at the court, Hoac Truong Uyen, hurried into the room. Behind him, he also led a woman with red and swollen eyes and messy hair - that was Vuong Thi, the nanny whose husband had just died last month, the person who had raised his younger brother since childhood. Hoac Truong Uyen knelt on one knee in front of me, his face full of regret:
"Madam, last night I was drunk and confused, so I stayed in the guest room for a while."
"Woke up in the middle of the night to go deal with it, but ended up going to the wrong hospital and accidentally stepped into Mother Vuong's room..."
"The room was dark, I suddenly lost my mind, I mistook her for her..."
"Thousands of mistakes are all my fault, but Mother Vuong has the kindness to breastfeed my baby brother. Now her innocence has been destroyed, I cannot ignore it. Please be generous and give her the title of noble concubine."
Nurse Vuong also bowed her head like crushing garlic:
"This slave deserves to die! I originally wanted to resist, but the young general's strength is too great, I really can't escape..."
I sat upright on the bed, looked at the master and servant couple in front of me, and almost couldn't help but laugh out loud. I looked down from above at the young general with his glorious achievements, his voice was cold and piercing:
"A major general in the Northern Cuong battlefield can hear the sound of quartering from a hundred steps away, and an arrow pierces the enemy general's throat."
"How could it be that after returning to my own palace, I couldn't even distinguish the main courtyard, filled with red silk, from the secluded and deserted living room?"
“The major general's eagle eyes can see at night a hundred steps away, yet he cannot distinguish between a sixteen-year-old bride and a widow who is over thirty?”
Hoac Truong Uyen's face instantly stiffened, layers of cold sweat appeared on his forehead. I stood up, took off the phoenix crown weighing several pounds from my head and threw it fiercely at his feet, the sound of gold and jade shattering was sharp and deafening.
“Put your disgusting ‘drunk and bad at work’ argument back!”
"A nanny is like a mother, a new widow is still filial."
"On the night of your big wedding, you got together with a widow dog and did this kind of thing that disregards morality and ethics, and is no better than that of a beast, and yet you still want me to be generous?"
“Hoo Truong Uyen, this marriage makes me feel extremely disgusted.”
"The book of reconciliation, I will write it now! From now on, our two families will part ways with each other!"
Huo Truong Uyen did not dare to believe it and raised his head. In his eyes, which had always been arrogant and inconsiderate, for the first time, there was a bit of panic.
“Tham Nam Kieu, are you crazy?”
"It's just an accident, just a woman, you actually want to break up?"
He suddenly stood up, as if he wanted to use his natural martial spirit to suppress me.
"Since ancient times, it has been normal for a man to have three wives and four concubines. I have bowed my head and admitted my mistake. As a daughter of a royal court, how could she be so jealous and yet not know so much about it!"
He still dared to bring up the four words "daughter's father" to pressure him ta. I looked at him coldly, without a trace of resentment or jealousy in my eyes, only a bottomless sarcasm.
“Three wives and four concubines is truly a normal thing.”
“But you are wrong about one thing, Hoac Truong Uyen.”
"Your actions today are not frivolous, not concubine, but disrupting the house, the behavior of a beast!"
I slowly walked in front of him, each step stepping on the pile of broken pearls on the ground, making cracking sounds that sent chills down the listener's spine.
"Dai Liang's law clearly states that a person who conspires with a widow while in mourning will have a more serious crime."
“《Le Ky》said, a nanny is like half a mother, belonging to the next generation.”
"On the big wedding night, you pressed down a man who was very filial and used to suckle his own younger brother, and yet you still told me this was just an accident?"
"In the end, you're drunk, or your mind is so clouded by lust that you don't even care about morality anymore!"
Hoac Truong Uyen was so forced by me that he had to take half a step back, his face changing from blue to white.
