Chapter 10 — The God of Light's Swapped Bride

Updated 06/09/2026 7 min read

Lang Vinh Khoi arrived at the Ben Muon area late one afternoon, looking completely different from the last time he saw his daughter. There was no longer the anger and contempt like before, instead there was a fake gentle appearance that Y Nhi recognized right away from his searching eyes.

"Dad, why are you here?" Y Nhi asked, her voice cautious when she saw her father appear at the door of her shabby house, something that had never happened in more than a month.

"I came to visit you," Lang Vinh Khoi replied, trying to give a forced smile. "It's been a while since we talked properly to each other."

Y Nhi invited him into the house, even though she was wary. Sure enough, after a few innocuous social conversations, Lang Vinh Khoi gradually turned to the topic he really wanted to talk about.

"Son," he said, trying to sound caring, "I know your current life is very difficult. I've also thought a lot, and I think, maybe this is not the best path for your future. If you think again, find a better path, I believe you will have a life much more worthy of what you deserve."

Y Nhi looked at her father and immediately realized what was behind those words. "Dad, you're talking about me leaving Da Vu, right?" she asked directly, without beating around the bush.

Lang Vinh Khoi was slightly stunned by his daughter's straightforwardness, but quickly regained his composure. “I just want the best for you,” he said. "There is a powerful man who has noticed you and is ready to give you a prosperous and honorable life. You just need..."

"Dad, there's no need to say more," Y Nhi interrupted, her voice cold. "I have already met Earl Gu Batwei. I refused his offer, and I also refused this offer from father."

"I..." Lang Vinh Khoi was stunned, not expecting his daughter to know everything in advance. "You don't understand, this is an opportunity for the whole family..."

"I understand very well," Y Nhi replied, her voice determined. "Father wants to use me in exchange for benefits for the family, like he did with his first marriage. But I have a husband and have sworn before Chi Hong Quang Minh. I will not betray that oath just for material gain."

Lang Vinh Khoi stood up, his face changed color, from fake gentleness to unconcealed anger. "You're so stubborn! Don't you know what a great opportunity you're turning down?"

"I know clearly," Y Nhi replied, standing up straight to face her father without trembling. "But I would rather live in poverty with someone who is sincere, than live in prosperity with someone who only sees me as a commodity to be exchanged."

Lang Vinh Khoi angrily left without saying another word, leaving Y Nhi standing silently in the small house, filled with worry about what was about to happen next. She knew that such a blunt refusal would definitely make Co Bat Uy not give up easily.

Sure enough, just a few days later, when Da Vu was out performing, a group of strangers, dressed like hired thugs, came to their small house. Y Nhi was alone at home. When she heard an unusually strong knock on the door, she was wary of opening the door right away.

"Miss Lang," a strange voice rang out outside, "The Count has invited you to the palace to discuss something important. Please open the door."

Y Nhi was silent, not responding, but the knocking became more and more violent, then the fragile wooden door began to vibrate as if it was about to be broken open at any moment. She backed away in panic, trying to escape out the back door, but as soon as she opened the back door, she saw two more thugs standing right at the exit.

"You don't have to be afraid, lady," one of them said, his voice full of menace. "If you just obediently follow us, everything will be much easier."

At that moment, the front door was kicked open and the remaining men rushed into the house. Y Nhi panicked and retreated to the corner of the wall, her heart pounding. She had never experienced such a dangerous situation in her life.

At that moment, the sound of hurried footsteps rang out from the alley. Da Vu, having just finished the performance earlier than planned due to an uneasy premonition, ran like hell home. He rushed through the door and saw the scene before him, his eyes immediately darkened.

"Let her go," he said, his voice low but containing a weight that made the whole group of thugs pause for a moment.

"This ragged musician dares to raise his voice?" A thug sneered, pulled out a short sword from his waist, and stepped forward with a threatening look. "Go away or I'll slash you!"

Da Vu stood between the thugs and Y Nhi, showing no signs of fear. In his heart, a fierce anger was rising — the strongest emotion he had ever experienced since the day he was banished from heaven. Seeing the woman he had gradually fallen in love with trembling in fear in the corner of the wall, something deep inside him seemed to explode.

"I said, let her go," he repeated, his voice now taking on a strange, deep tone like a bell ringing inside.

The thug was holding a knife and rushed forward, swinging the knife and slashing straight at Da Vu's shoulder. But right at the moment the blade was about to touch, Da Vu's eyes suddenly flashed a bright yellow light, so strong that the whole room seemed to light up in an instant. The thug was startled, the sword in his hand trembled, and an invisible force seemed to push him back a few steps, falling to the ground.

"Wha...what is that?" Another guy stammered, his face pale, looking at Da Vu with horrified eyes.

The light in Da Vu's eyes only flashed for a short moment and then went out immediately, but it was enough to terrify all the thugs. They hastily helped their accomplices up, not daring to stay another moment, and frantically fled the house, leaving behind a suffocating silence.

Y Nhi stood frozen in the corner, eyes wide open, looking at Da Vu, both surprised and unable to hide her shock at what she had just witnessed. "You... what did you just do?" she asked, her voice shaking.

Da Vu turned to look at her, in his eyes was now concern mixed with guilt for revealing what he had tried to hide for so long. "I'm sorry," he said, walking over to hug her, feeling her body still trembling with fear. "I'll explain everything, but first, are you okay, miss?"

Y Nhi shook her head and collapsed into his arms, a strange feeling of safety rising even though she had just experienced a terrible experience. She didn't ask anything more at this time, just let that warm embrace surround her, but in her heart, the question about Da Vu's true personality now became more urgent than ever.

News that the subordinates were beaten back by an unknown musician was quickly reported to Co Bat Uy palace. He sat in the study room, listening to the report with a dark expression on his face, his eyes showing for the first time a real sense of caution.

"An unarmed musician can make five of my henchmen run away in terror?" he muttered, his fingers lightly tapping on the wooden table. "There's something wrong with this person."

"What do you plan to do next, sir?" Ta Khac Dung asked.

Co Bat Uy was silent for a long time, his eyes narrowed full of calculation. "Investigate more closely the background of that musician," he ordered. "I want to know who he really is, before I decide on my next move."

After the thugs ran away, Y Nhi and Da Vu sat quietly in the small house, both still shocked by the event that had just happened. Y Nhi poured him a cup of water, her hands were still shaking slightly.

"You said you would explain," she repeated, her voice calmer but her eyes still full of anticipation for a satisfactory answer.

Da Vu looked at her for a long time, his heart struggling fiercely. I know, after what just happened, I can't keep hiding it anymore. But he was also afraid that if he told the truth too suddenly while she was still panicking, it might make things worse.

"I promise to tell you the whole truth," he said, taking her hand, "but please give me a little more time to prepare, because this story is not simple at all. The most important thing right now is to make sure you are safe. They have struck once, they will definitely not stop there."

Y Nhi nodded, even though her heart was still filled with hundreds of tangled threads. She held his hand tightly, feeling the familiar warmth, and in that moment, she decided that no matter what the truth was ahead, she would face it with him, the same way they had overcome many difficulties together over the past month.
