Chapter 4
Chapter 4 — The Invisible Girl
They are both new and excited, tirelessly sharing with their family what they see and hear. Na Na sitting next to her, after finishing talking, suddenly looked at me.
"Tinh Chan, you're really independent. Don't your parents worry about you?"
I looked at the scene outside, two seconds later I smiled.
"Negligent."
Na Na was stunned for a moment, then changed to another topic. The second day after settling in, we went to the factory and began to familiarize ourselves with the process. After a week, we basically got used to the environment. But superiors still constantly warn that there are some areas that are best not to go if not necessary. You can't go out at night either. When going out, you should not bring valuable items with you, because the security situation here is not very good. The price is also higher than I imagined, but the advantages are also very clear. High salary, many opportunities. By the eighth day, my parents were on their way home. The younger sister chirped and acted like a babe, denouncing her father in the group.
"That guy is so handsome, people even asked for my contact information, but dad wouldn't give it to me. What an old-fashioned thing!"
The brother sent a reluctant emoji.
"I'm a girl and I'm abroad. Who knows what those men intend. If it were me, I wouldn't allow it."
“But I'm twenty-three years old!”
“Even if I'm thirty-three years old, my boyfriend still has to pass the whole family's inspection!”
The younger sister sent a crying emoji.
“It's so hopeless with everyone.”
"Hehe, we'll be home in half an hour. I've chosen a lot of gifts, until then you can choose as you please."
The brother was silent for a moment, then suddenly said:
"I don't need anything. You choose for your sister. She must be very busy with work these past few days, the whole family hasn't seen her."
“Doesn't she need it?”
After sending this sentence, the sister immediately withdrew the message. A few seconds later, she sent another “OK”. I put my phone away. Two hours later, almost everyone in the company had left. I finished my work and then left. It was a bit dark, our area was still relatively safe, so overall I wasn't too worried. But after only a few minutes of walking, I noticed someone following behind. As I turned around, a great force grabbed my bag. The bag strap caught my neck, instantly pulling me down. I fell heavily to the ground. I immediately shouted loudly for help. The tramp raised his foot and kicked me in the stomach. I was in so much pain that I was convulsing. But the next second, an Asian person rushed in. He threw a strong punch, knocking him down. The other guy saw that the other person was a tall man, immediately rolled over, got up and ran away.
“Are you okay?”
“No…”
But before I could finish speaking, the pain was so bad that I fainted. When I woke up, I discovered I was in the hospital. The person who saved me was sitting at the nearby table doing work. As soon as I woke up, he tilted his head and looked over.
“How do you feel?”
"It's okay, it doesn't hurt like that anymore. Thank you for saving me."
The man shook his head.
"Nothing. My name is Chu Tinh Le. In the future, you should bring self-defense equipment with you. In recent years, this place has been quite chaotic."
I nodded, gratefully said:
“Thank you.”
He looked at my peeling lips, stood up and poured me a glass of water. Wait until I finish drinking, bro just went to my phone.
“The phone keeps ringing, it must be your family.”
I licked my lips that had just been moistened and turned on my phone. The first message that popped up was my mother's angry scolding.
“Don't pretend to be dead, quickly reply to the message!”
I tightened my grip on the phone, my whole body kept shaking. Chu Tinh Le suddenly stood up, leaving this space for me. I blinked my stinging eyes, my fingers slowly pulled upwards. When they got to the beginning of the chat, that's when they discovered I wasn't home. Mom was the first person to mention my name.
“It's so late, where are you going?”
Two minutes later, dad said again:
"Stop being angry. You intentionally made your mother worry, right?"
After another five minutes, his brother also joined.
"I checked the camera. You haven't been home for more than a week. I went to the supermarket to ask, the employee said you didn't come to take the job at all. Truong Tinh Chan, where did you go?"
No one really cares about my safety. There was only anger because I hid it. Mom started calling me. After the bell rang a few times, I pressed the button to listen. The sound of preemptive scolding came.
"Truong Tinh Chan, do you still have the face to answer the phone? You really don't make me worry any less. Where have you been wandering around?"
“Mexico.”
The other end of the phone was immediately silent for a second. The brother gasped:
"Why did you go there? That place is very dangerous."
"Work."
Dad grabbed the phone and said angrily:
"Haven't we already found a job for you? What are you doing?"
“I don't want to do it.”
“So what do you want to do?”
Mother's questioning voice was sour and harsh.
"You've grown enough, so you don't listen anymore. Don't ever expect us to take care of your affairs in the future!"
She scolded me in a hoarse voice, like I was an ungrateful and heartless child.
