Chapter 11
Chapter 11 — The Most Despised Son Who Shocked the World
A month after Nhat Pham's accident, Tuong Khinh Vu realized his plan was not as effective as expected. Vo Ky did not withdraw from the Trial Training Congress as he expected. On the contrary, he still persistently participated in the mandatory preparation sessions for candidates, his calm attitude was so calm that it made Khinh Vu even more uncomfortable.
"That guy is more stubborn than I thought." Khinh Vu gritted his teeth and said to Mr. Loi one evening, while the two were discussing in their private study. "Hitting his brother wasn't enough to force him to bow his head."
"Young Master, should I find a more direct way?" Loi suggested, his voice full of calculation.
Khinh Vu thought for a moment, then his eyes flashed a cruel light. "His mother. That washer woman is his biggest weakness. If I hit him there, he will definitely have to kneel down and beg me."
A few days later, when Ha Thu Nhan was doing laundry alone at the lake area behind the service area at dusk, Khinh Vu deliberately appeared, standing in her way, followed by two trusted subordinates.
"Are you the mother of that illegitimate child?" Khinh Vu asked, his voice cold, not hiding his threatening intention.
Thu Nhan was startled, quickly bowed her head and bowed, her trembling hands clutching the basin of clothes tightly in front of her chest like an invisible shield. "Young Master, that's right."
"I heard that your son is still stubbornly registering for the Trial Conference." Khinh Vu stepped closer, his voice carrying a naked threat that did not need to be hidden. "I advise you to tell him to retreat, otherwise, I cannot guarantee what will happen next. Your little child has already had an unfortunate accident, I don't want to witness another unfortunate accident happen to you."
That sentence made Thu Nhan pale and her whole body trembled. She clearly understood that this was not empty words, but a naked threat to her own life.
"Young master, please forgive my son." She knelt down, tears streaming down her face. "He just wanted to test his strength, didn't mean to offend young master."
"Then tell him to retreat." Khinh Vu looked at her from above, his eyes full of contempt and satisfaction at her fear. "I give you three days to convince it. If not, don't blame me for being cruel."
Having finished speaking, he waved his hand to signal his subordinates to leave, leaving Thu Nhan kneeling beside the lake, his whole body shaking with fear and humiliation.
She sat quietly like that for a long time, her hands still clutching the basin of clothes that had been soaked by water, her mind reeling with all kinds of panicked thoughts. During the seventeen years she lived in Tuong Phu Thanh, she endured countless insults, but no one had ever openly threatened her life in such a blatant way. She remembered the rainy and windy night in the past when she came alone to this city gate, remembering the promise of the man she loved that this place would be a safe place for their son. Now, that promise seems to be turning into a bitter irony.
That night, when Vo Ky returned from the mandatory training session to prepare for the Grand Tournament, he saw his mother sitting absent-mindedly in the room, her eyes red and swollen from crying. He immediately realized something was wrong.
"Mom, what's wrong?" He sat down next to her, his voice worried.
Thu Nhan initially tried to hide it, but in the face of her son's determined eyes, she finally couldn't hold back and told the whole incident of being threatened by Khinh Vu. "You... please withdraw from the Congress, I beg you. I don't want to lose any more children."
Vo Ky sat silently, his hands clenched so tightly that they trembled. In his chest, an aura of Demon Essence swirled violently, so strong that the whole room seemed to vibrate slightly, causing a few floor tiles to crack thin lines. He quickly suppressed it, but his face darkened with extreme anger.
"Mom, I'm sorry for making you endure this." He said, his voice was cold and scary. "But I won't back down. If I back out, everything we've tried to preserve for the past seventeen years will be meaningless. I will find a way to protect you, I promise."
Thu Nhan looked at her son, in his eyes she saw something different, a determination mixed with anger that she had never seen before. For seventeen years, she had always looked at her son as a child in need of protection, but at this moment, she suddenly realized that her son was much more mature than she imagined, and perhaps, he was hiding more things than she ever knew.
The next morning, unable to contain his anger, Vo Ky went to meet Khinh Vu directly at his private training ground, disregarding all rules about the strict status gap between a service member and a special class.
"You dare threaten my mother." Vo Ky stood opposite Khinh Vu, his voice cold, his eyes no longer bowed for the first time.
Khinh Vu raised his eyebrows, a bit surprised at the suddenly tough attitude of the person who had always bowed his head and was patient. "Oh? Today, this illegitimate son dared to speak to me in that tone? It seems that the previous lesson was not profound enough."
"If you dare touch my mother again, I won't leave you alone." Vo Ky took a step forward, and in that moment, an invisible stream of pressure radiated from his body, so strong that it caused the stone floor under the two people's feet to crack slightly, and a few paving stones bounced up in an instant.
Khinh Vu took a step back instinctively, his eyes flashed a bit of surprise at that strange phenomenon, but then he immediately calmed down, telling himself that it was just an illusion or a bit of excess aura accidentally released from the anger of a person who had destroyed his spiritual roots, and could not be a sign of true strength.
"Are you planning to threaten me?" Khinh Vu smiled faintly, trying to regain his usual arrogant calmness. "A soulless person like you, no matter how angry you are, can't do anything to me. But I like this attitude, at least it shows that you still know how to be afraid when your loved ones are threatened. Remember, your mother's fate is in your hands. Withdraw from the Trial Conference, and I will leave her alone."
Vo Ky looked straight into his eyes, did not respond, just turned and left, his hands still clasped behind his back to hide the trembling from suppressing the anger that was about to explode.
Khinh Vu stood and watched his leaving figure, his heart still lingering with a vague insecurity about the phenomenon of cracking the stone floor just now, but he quickly pushed it aside, reassuring himself with absolute belief in the superiority of the bloodline that he inherited.
That night, at Tuyet Cot Nhai, Vo Ky recounted the entire incident to his three seniors, including details about the pressure that unintentionally emitted when facing Khinh Vu.
"I'm almost at the edge of my control." Vong Ky Dao Truong commented with a serious tone. "It's a sign that you're getting closer to perfecting the Core, but it's also a warning that your emotions are being pushed to the limit."
"He threatened your mother's life." Dry Bone Old Man clenched his fists, his voice filled with anger. "We can't let this situation continue any longer. We need to find a way to protect Thu Nhan and Nhat Pham immediately, we can't wait until the Training Trial Congress takes place."
Senior Thiet Dien nodded in agreement, his eyes revealing a thoughtful look. "I know a safe hiding place, far from the Tuong Family's control. It's time for us to act, we can't just rely on patience anymore."
Vo Ky nodded, his heart both grateful and heavy with worry. He knew that the decisive moment was coming closer than ever, and he could not let his loved ones continue to be hostages to Tuong Khinh Vu's crazy ambition.
"We'll need time to arrange a truly safe hideout. We can't rush it in a day or two." Senior Iron Man added, his voice full of calculation. "In the meantime, you need to find a way to delay Khinh Vu, don't let him act immediately before everything is properly prepared."
"I will think of a way." Vo Ky replied, his eyes determined. "But I'm also worried that he gave my mother three days to convince me to back down. If I don't make a move, he might strike sooner than expected."
Vong Ky Dao Truong pondered for a moment then spoke. "Then pretend to waver, so he believes your threat is working. That will buy us the time we need."
