Chapter 5
Chapter 5 — The Regent asked the price of my sincerity
"The crime of death can be forgiven, but the crime of life cannot be forgiven! Passing on my will, the entire Trieu family beheaded, the family property confiscated!"
"Trieu Thai Phi's teachings are not strict, she is grounded in the Royal Palace. Without my instructions, you are not allowed to step out even half a step!"
“And Trieu Uyen Nhu…”
The Emperor glanced at her with disgust.
“Since you have severed ties with the Trieu family, then stay at the Royal Palace and work as a maid doing heavy work!”
Trieu Uyen Nhu's eyes widened and she completely fainted. I picked up the keys from the ground and put them back on my waist. Tieu Lam Uyen walked next to me and wrapped her arms around my shoulders.
“Vuong Phi's trick of inviting troops into her trap is beautifully used.”
I stroked the set of keys at my waist, smiling like a fox that had just carried out its plan.
"That's natural. The money is already in my pocket, so even if the Demon King comes, he won't be able to take out a single coin, let alone a few dancing clowns?"
The Trieu family collapsed, the whole family was beheaded, blood flowed into rivers. Trieu Uyen Nhu went from being a high-ranking young lady to the lowest-ranking maid in the royal palace. Trieu Thai Phi was detained in the Buddhist hall, chanting Buddhist scriptures all day, as if she had truly become an old woman with six pure senses. But I know that a hundred-legged centipede will not become stiff even when it dies. Sure enough, less than half a month later, something happened to the court. A down-and-out scholar named Lieu Tu Du, suddenly during the early morning session, he beat a drum to complain and played a harp. Regent Vuong Tieu Lam Uyen forced him to marry a commoner, and that person was me.
"Your Majesty! Lieu Tu Du, a commoner, is the Tham Hoa Lang of last year's exam! Tham Kim Trieu was originally the wife of a commoner, but was forced to take her away by the Regent King!"
Lieu Tu Du knelt in the middle of the main hall, tears streaming from his eyes, holding up a stack of letters in both hands.
"These are all love poems that Tham Kim Trieu wrote for the common people in the past! Each word is filled with tears, each sentence is filled with deep feelings! Please, Your Majesty, be the master for the common people!"
The whole civil and military court murmured, their eyes looking at Tieu Lam Uyen full of scrutiny. Forcing women to marry women, stealing other people's wives, this is a huge scandal. The Emperor sat on the long chair, his eyebrows furrowed.
“Regent, is this true?”
Tieu Lam Uyen stood at the head of the row of officials, his face still calm as usual.
"Your Majesty, my Princess has a bad temper. It's better to let her explain things like this herself."
As soon as the words ended, the sound of communication rang out outside the main hall.
“The Regent Princess has arrived!”
I was dressed in a splendid court uniform, behind me were four strong families carrying two heavy red wooden chests, striding into the court.
“My concubine Tham Kim Trieu, pay my respects to the Emperor.”
I gently bowed, my eyes glanced at Lieu Tu Du kneeling on the ground, a cold smile curled the corner of my lips. As soon as Liu Tu Du saw me, panic flashed in his eyes, but he quickly tried to appear calm.
"Kim Trieu, don't be afraid! With the Emperor here, the Regent doesn't dare to do anything to you! Quickly tell the Emperor, you were forced!"
I didn't pay any attention to him, went straight to the two red wooden chests and kicked the lids off. The brilliant golden light immediately made the entire military court dazzle. Two round chests, inside are both Gold bars of all ages and quantities! The sound of cold air was heard in the main hall. I conveniently picked up a gold bar, weighed it, then walked in front of Lieu Tu Du.
“Lieu Tham Hoa, what did you say I wrote to you just now?”
“Poetry... love poetry.”
Lieu Tu Du swallowed a mouthful of saliva and stared at the gold bar in my hand.
"Oh? Read it and let me listen."
Liu Tzu Du trembled and opened the letter and read loudly:
"'The king's father's heart falls, like water flowing in the river. The sky and gold are scattered, but the sun and the sky are restored?'"
After reading, he raised his head, his face full of love.
"Kim Trieu, the love you have for me, I always remember in my heart..."
The gold bar in my hand hit his forehead hard. Lieu Tu Du let out a miserable scream, clutching his forehead and falling to the ground, bleeding profusely. Several royal historians immediately came out and scolded him.
“This is the main hall, how can a woman like you hurt someone!”
“When I hit, I hit someone who owes money and refuses to pay!”
I pointed straight at Lieu Tu Du's nose and opened my mouth to scold him.
"You useless, illiterate thing! That's a debt collection note I wrote a long time ago to urge you to pay!"
"'Father's heart is broken', you owe me three thousand taels of principal! 'Thousands of gold scattered', is the fee I lent you! 'Ha Nhat phuc', is asking you when you will return both principal and interest to me!"
