Chapter 8
Chapter 8 — The Ten Year Lie
“So where are you going?” “It has nothing to do with me.” To Hoai Nghien pulled me towards the elevator. Luc Tram Chu followed two steps. Chau Que Lan suddenly blocked in front of him. "Tram Chu." "Don't stop her anymore." "You've stopped her for ten years." When the elevator door closed, Luc Tram Chu stood in place, his face full of struggle. That night, I stayed at To Hoai Nghien's house. At three o'clock in the morning, the doorbell rang. To Hoai Nghien looked through cat eyes and said an expletive. Luc Tram Chu stood outside the door, holding Tue Tue's photo album in his hand. He didn't ring the bell a second time, just stood a door away and said: "Van Khe, I know you haven't slept yet." "I brought Tue Tue's things." "Aren't you always afraid to watch?" "I'll watch with you." I sat on the sofa, my fingertips were cold. Outside the door, his voice was hoarse and unusual. "On my fourth birthday, the cake I made fell flat. She secretly told me the cake mom made was the best." "The first time I learned to swim, I choked on water. While crying, I said I would never pay attention to dad again." "The morning of the day she left, she even asked me if I could come pick her up after work." Each sentence pierced my heart precisely. To Hoai Nghien was so angry that he wanted to open the door and hit him. I stopped. There was silence outside the door for a long time. Luc Tram Chu suddenly said: "Van Khe, I admit I'm selfish." "But I love Tue Tue." "I love you too." "I just made the wrong choice in that one second." Finally I opened my mouth. "Then why did you hide that mistake for ten years?" There was no sound outside the door. "Because you were afraid I wouldn't love you anymore." "Because you were afraid the hero would turn into a sinner." "Because you know, if I knew Tue Tue was let go by you, I would hate you." me." Luc Tram Chu's breathing could still be heard clearly from a door away. "Van Khe." "I really can't be without you." This sentence once saved me. Now it just makes me nauseous. The phone on the tea table vibrated. Tham Tri Nghi sent a photo. In the photo, the flood water is murky, half of Luc Tram Chu's body is immersed in the water. His left hand held the arm of the girl wearing red rain boots. The right hand reaches out towards the girl wearing yellow rain boots. The next photo is clearer. The little girl wearing red rain boots was swept away by the water, her small hand still reaching out towards him. And Luc Tram Chu hugged the little girl wearing yellow rain boots. The back of the photo shows a timeline. Ten years ago, four fifteen in the afternoon. Outside the door, Luc Tram Chu was still begging me in a low voice. "Open the door, let me take a look at you." To Hoai Nghien finished looking at the photos, her eyes were red. "Sister." I picked up the phone and called the lawyer. Outside the door suddenly came the sound of something heavy falling to the ground. Luc Tram Chu knelt outside the door. 9. The next morning, the lawyer went with me to Tham Tri Nghi's small restaurant. The restaurant is located at the end of an alley in the old neighborhood, with a faded sign in front of the door. Tham Tri Nghi is much older than in the photo, her hair is gray, and her eyes are dark. Seeing me, the towel in her hand fell to the ground. "Miss To." She didn't dare call my name. I sat down, put the red hair clip on the table. "Speak." Tham Tri Nghi's eyes immediately turned red. "After the accident that year, the school was afraid that the responsibility was too big, everyone was scared." "I was in charge of arranging the interrogation minutes." "The first version of Chau Que Lan said that Luc Tram Chu first grasped Tue Tue, then let go to save Dao Niem Tu." "The principal said this copy could not be submitted." "He said the school could not submit it." Kindergarten can no longer compensate, Luc Tram Chu is a hero, determined that saving the wrong child is good for everyone." The lawyer frowned. "Who told you to fix it?" Tham Tri Nghi bowed his head. "Principal." "And there is Tuong Nguyet Cam." "She comes every day to make a fuss, saying that her daughter who was rescued was also a victim, who dares to say that Luc Tram Chu intentionally saved her daughter first, then it is forcing the mother and daughter to go away. ” “She comes every day to make a fuss, saying that her daughter who was rescued is also a victim. Who dares to say that Luc Tram Chu intentionally saved her daughter first, then it is forcing the mother and daughter to die.”“Luc Tram Chu came once
times." I asked: "What did he say?" Tham Tri Nghi's fingers twisted together. "He said he had facial recognition blindness." "He said that day was too chaotic, he couldn't even distinguish." "He told me to write in the record that I could only hold one hand." "He also said that if he really wrote and let go, To Van Khe would go crazy." "He said she had already lost her daughter, she couldn't lose another husband." He pressed me to the point where he couldn't breathe. He turned his job of hurting me into protecting me. Tham Tri Nghi took out a parchment bag. Inside were copies of the original minutes, three photos and a report of the store owner's situation that year, his face heavy. "These things are enough to overturn the conclusion of civil liability that year." used." Tham Tri Nghi suddenly knelt down. "Miss To, I'm sorry." "I know apologizing doesn't work." "For the past years, I've been donating money to the temple every month, I thought I would feel better." I didn't help her. "Donating to anyone is useless." "The person you owe is Tue Tue." Tham Tri Nghi cried so much she couldn't speak. The lawyer kept the evidence carefully.
