Chapter 1
Chapter 1 — This life is not a stepping stone
That year, the Marquis's little master fell into the water. My sister, who considered herself noble, refused to get her clothes wet to save people. I took off my coat, jumped into the ice hole, and pulled myself to shore. After waking up, the little marquis personally came to the door to pray for marriage. But my sister won first and took my jade pendant to claim the credit. The mother warns us:
“You are just a concubine, marrying into it will only cause loss of face.”
Later, the little marquis inherited the title. The sister was tortured to death because she couldn't have children. Before she died, she strangled me, her eyes full of resentment:
"It's all because of you saving him! It was you who ruined my life!"
When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the day the little marquis fell into the water. My sister was still hesitating whether to call for help or not. I picked up a bamboo pole on the shore, one pole poked the person who had just emerged from the water to sink again.

The bamboo pole bounced back. The person under the ice struggled twice, his fingers once again grasping the edge of the hole. Le Canh Hanh eventually practiced martial arts. Just now, I just beat him to the point of losing his strength, and soon he rose again. He choked out a mouthful of water and glared at me, his eyes as if he wanted to devour me alive.
“You…”
I brought the bamboo pole to Thoi Minh Thu's hand:
"Don't you want to be the benefactor to save the life of the Marquis? The opportunity is given to you."
Toi Minh Thu took a step back. Today she is wearing a newly sewn red brocade dress, the hem of the dress is still trimmed with gold thread. Her mother said she had to dominate everyone at the banquet tomorrow, even her robe was scented with the most expensive agarwood incense. How could she let herself get soaked? The previous life was also like that. She forced me to go down and save people, saying I was just a concubine and my clothes weren't worth much money. Waiting for me to crawl up from the water, with a high fever and coma, she pulled the jade pendant from my neck and told everyone that it was she who saved the little marquis.
“I don't know how to swim.” Cui Minh Thu bit his lip.
"So you should know if you call someone, right?"
Her face changed slightly. Today we secretly left tomorrow's banquet, without taking any maids with us. She originally intended to secretly meet new graduate Tham Hoa, but unexpectedly she saw Le Canh Hanh falling into the water. If we call someone over, the fact that she secretly met her grandfather will no longer be able to hide it. That's why in my previous life she refused to call for help and only forced me into the water. Le Canh Hanh was about to succumb in the ice hole, the blue veins on the back of his hand were bulging out. Cui Minh Thu suddenly grabbed my wrist:
"You know how to swim, get down quickly!"
“I can only swing like a dog.”
"That's better than watching him die!"
I burst out laughing.
"You're so kind, why don't you come down yourself?"
She raised her hand to slap me. I turned my hand and gave her a slap in the face, knocking her down into the snow. The crisp slapping sound startled a flock of crows perched on dry branches and flew away. Cui Minh Thu covered his face, completely stunned. I bent down to look at her:
"Before, I gave in to you because I regretted my life. Now I don't give in anymore, it's also because I regretted my life."
After speaking, I turned towards the apricot forest and called out loudly:
"Where are you? Someone fell into the water!"
This call alarmed half the garden. The sound of chaotic footsteps came. I didn't jump down, I just lay face down on the ice, holding out the bamboo pole horizontally. When Le Canh Hanh grabbed the other end, I didn't pull him up right away, but used my strength to push him towards the shallow beach that was not half his body deep. The bodyguard ran over and pulled the person up together. I immediately let go of the pole and retreated to the back of the crowd. Le Canh Hanh's whole body was soaked, his face was pale. After putting on his fox fur coat, he walked through the crowd and looked towards me.
“Who was the person who used the bamboo pole to hit me just now?”
Toi Minh Thu's eyes lit up, she took the initiative to kneel down again:
"Please forgive me, little marquis. My younger sister panicked for a moment, I didn't mean to harm you. I called everyone here, and I also asked her to give me the bamboo pole."
She took out the piece of green jade pendant that she had already held tightly in her palm.
“If Marquis wants to punish me, please punish me.”
The jade pendant that decided the fate of the two of us in our previous lives has now appeared like that. Only this time, I don't have a high fever and coma. I stepped up and pulled the jade pendant from her hand.
“You stole my stuff, do you still want to use it to get a reward?”
Cui Minh Thu's face immediately turned pale. The eyes of the guests simultaneously fell on the jade pendant. The quality of the jade is normal, one corner is chipped. But on the back side is engraved a very shallow word "Kneel", which is a relic left by my mother. Thoi Minh Thu opened his mouth:
“This is what my mother gave me.”
“Did your mother give you an object engraved with my name?”
I turned the jade pendant over. The word "Kneel" was like a slap straight to her face. There was a soft sound of chatter around. She values face the most. At this moment, his eye sockets immediately turned red:
"Sister, if you like it, just take it. Why do you have to slander me in front of everyone?"
She has mastered this trick. If you just shed two tears, the person who is wrong in the end is always you. I raised my hand and pointed to the snowy ground:
"Just now, you were holding the jade pendant too tightly, and the jade tassel still had the lipstick in your hand. That lipstick was mixed with gold powder, and you were the only one who used it in the whole capital. Do I need to invite someone to check?"
She instinctively hid her hands behind her back.
"Also, why did you come to the deserted lake alone? Who was the man in the blue shirt who was talking to you?"
The tears that welled up in her eyes immediately stopped. Outside the apricot forest, new flower detective Chu Ky Bach was stopped by two guards of the Marquis Palace. He couldn't hide fast enough, a corner of his shirt was still exposed behind the tree trunk. Cui Minh Thu panicked. She rushed forward and grabbed me:
“You talk nonsense!”
