Chapter 6 — Three Years of Being a Fake Wife, One Day Overturning the Table

I walked to the window, pulled open the curtain, and the city lights immediately flooded in, shining on the glass frame to reflect a faint figure. A strange woman, calm and cold, with something as sharp as a blade hidden in her eyes. Is that… me? I'm not sure. The phone screen lit up again, this time it wasn't a call, but a news push, the title so prominent it was dazzling.

"The conciliation program turned shocking, the gentle mother-in-law turned out to be the mastermind of fraud."

I clicked to watch, and a video cut from the program appeared, from Luu Ngoc Mai's crying scene, to the moment I presented the evidence, then Vuong Tu Anh's collapsing cry, and even the scene where the police took people away. The comment section exploded, thousands of words crowded together, the most liked line was only one sentence.

“This woman, this year's queen, does not accept objections.”

Below are countless responses. I looked at those unfamiliar names, read every sentence of support, but my heart felt strangely empty. A play. A play stripped bare in front of everyone, bloody and naked. I won the argument, won public opinion, but three years of my youth... who will give it back? That trampled sincerity... who can make up for it? The phone vibrated again. This time it's a strange number. I was about to refuse, but for some reason, I pressed listen.

“Hello, are you Miss Hua Tinh?”

The female voice on the other end of the line was steady and decisive, carrying the aura of a lawyer.

"Hello, I'm lawyer Phuong Tinh. We talked on the phone before, maybe you don't remember."

“Three days ago, you entrusted me to handle the case related to Zhou Wenbo and Liu Yumei.”

“I watched the live broadcast tonight, I have to say, you did better than any lawyer.”

"We have completed the things you told us, the police have officially filed a case, tonight Luu Ngoc Mai will be questioned all night."

“The court petition will also be filed tomorrow morning, 9 o'clock, we need to meet in person at my office.”

“We will discuss specifically about civil compensation.”

Her speaking speed is fast and coherent, each sentence is clear, not a single word is redundant, but it carries a feeling of peace of mind. The tight rope in my head… finally slackened.

“Okay, tomorrow morning at 9 am, I will be on time.”

I hung up, threw the phone on the sofa, my whole body collapsed, as if all my strength had been drained. I curled up on the sofa that was once filled with lies and deception, closed my eyes, but all night... couldn't sleep. The next morning, I woke up very early. The sunlight filtered through the curtains, shining on the ceiling, making me stunned for a few seconds, as if everything last night was just a long dream. But the news notifications that kept popping up, along with the location that lawyer Phuong Tinh sent, reminded me that it was all... real. I stood up, walked into the bathroom, looked at the woman in the mirror, her face was pale, her eye circles were obvious, but her eyes were unusually bright. Like a field that had just been burned down, withered to the bottom, but deep down... green shoots had begun to sprout. I showered, changed into a neat office outfit, and applied light but delicate makeup to hide all my fatigue. I don't need anyone's pity. I just need to… take back what belongs to me. Literature Phuong Tinh's law office is located in the most luxurious office building in the city center. I walked into that bright and clean office, she was standing in front of the large glass door calling, straight figure, tight black suit, hair tied up at the back of her head, her whole body exuding a sharp aura like a blade just pulled out of its sheath. Seeing me, she nodded slightly in greeting, quickly ended the call, then walked back, holding out her hand, her eyes calm but strong.

“Miss Hua, you are even calmer than I imagined.”

I held her hand, her palm was warm but firm, like a rare fulcrum amid the recent chaos.

“Lawyer Phuong, I am also stronger than I thought.”

We looked at each other and laughed, a kind of quick tacit understanding, like two people standing on the same side of the battle line, realizing the other was "the same person". She motioned me to sit on the sofa and personally poured me a glass of water, her movements neat and decisive.

“In short.”

She placed a stack of documents on the table, her eyes were serious, her voice changed to a work state.

"Last night's program became an explosive social event. All current public opinion is in our favor, which is a huge advantage."

"Luu Ngoc Mai, under police interrogation, confessed the entire incident. She thought that sincerity would be mitigated, but in reality, the more she confessed, the more serious the fraud became."

"On Chu Van Bac's side, the police went to the hospital to take a statement. Even though he was paralyzed, he was still conscious, so he was still legally responsible."

"The crime of double marriage is certain, no longer in dispute, and the crime of fraud, with evidence that mother and daughter colluded to appropriate her money and emotions for three years, can also basically be determined."
