Chapter 15
Chapter 15 — Twenty Years of Reclaiming Justice
I replied slowly.
“That year before jumping off the building.”
“Shen Zhenhua left me a letter.”
“In the letter.”
“He wrote everything.”
“He knew he couldn't escape.”
“But he doesn't want me and Tham Chu to be devoured by you wolves.”
“He told me to take my child far away.”
“Never come back to take revenge.”
Before my eyes appeared the last figure of that man. He is a failed businessman. Being an unfaithful husband. But for me and Tham Chu. He still retains the last bit of gentleness.
“I kept my promise to him.”
“I persevered for twenty years.”
“If it weren't for you guys insisting on forcing me this way.”
“Maybe that secret will follow me to the grave.”
“But now.”
“I changed my mind.”
I looked straight into Luc Khiem's eyes. Each word rang out coldly.
“I want you to pay in blood.”
“I want you to spit back double everything you swallowed.”
“I want the whole world to see clearly.”
“Behind the flashy facade of you three.”
“How dirty souls are.”
Luc Khiem was desperate. He knows. What I said is the truth. Also know that. I don't have any chance to turn things around anymore. His eyes flashed with fierce madness. He jumped up from the ground. Pulled out a dagger from his body.
“On Qing!”
He screamed. Frantically rushing towards me.
“If I don't live!”
“Then you don't even want to live!”
“I also have to drag you to death with me!”
He rushed forward very quickly. His eyes were as ferocious as a wild beast. But I didn't move. I didn't even blink. Because I know. He can't touch me. Just when the blade was less than half a meter away from me. A heavy gunshot rang out. Tearing through the quiet atmosphere of the factory. Luc Khiem's body suddenly shook. He bowed his head. Looking at my chest in disbelief. A dark red blood hole appeared. Fresh blood kept flowing out. The knife in his hand fell to the concrete floor. The cold sound echoed. Luc Khiem trembled and raised his head. His eyes crossed me. Look behind you. In the deep darkness of the factory. A tall figure was slowly walking out. He wore a straight military uniform. The gun in his hand was still smoking. Angular face. His eyes were cold and sharp. That line. There are seven parts similar to Co Bac. It's Co Truong Phong. He still comes. Luc Khiem opened his eyes wide. His eyes were filled with fear and unwillingness.
“Co... Co Truong Phong...”
“It's... it's you...”
The corners of his lips were bleeding. Voice interrupted.
“You... betrayed me...”
Co Truong Phong stepped closer step by step. His face was cold as ice.
“The traitor from beginning to end is you.”
“Luc Khiem.”
“You shouldn't touch Wen Qing.”
“Don't even touch the children.”
Luc Khiem burst out laughing. Hoarse laughter. Full of madness.
“Ha ha ha...”
“Co Truong Phong…”
“You think to kill me…”
“So am I very clean?”
“We…”
“They are all the same type of person…”
“They all deserve to die…”
The words haven't ended yet. Blood was pouring out of his mouth. His body staggered. Then he fell heavily. Dust kicked up. Luc Khiem lay motionless on the cold cement floor. Eyes still wide open. Carrying resentment and unwillingness. But all. It's over. Man once stood at the pinnacle of power. Finally died in an abandoned factory. Died at the hands of a friend who lived and died with him. I stood still. Quietly look at that body. Not happy. It doesn't hurt either. Just feels empty. Because I know. Luc Khiem is not the last person. Behind him. There is still Tieu Chinh Duc. There is still Mrs. Tham. This chess game. We've just entered the most dramatic episode. Co Truong Phong walked in front of me. His eyes did not look at Luc Khiem's dying body on the ground. But just look at me. That look was so complicated that I couldn't read it. There was also joy as if I had just found something that had been lost for many years.
“Thanh Thanh.”
He spoke up. Hoarse voice.
“Are you okay?”
I looked at the man in front of me. My son's biological father. This man has never asked a single question about me or Co Bac in the past twenty years.
“Am I okay or not?”
“What does it have to do with you?”
My voice is still cold as ice. The expression on his face stiffened. Then it turned into a bitter smile.
“I know you hate me.”
“I hate all of you.”
“You should hate.”
He put the gun away. Step next to Luc Khiem's body. Raise your hand to check your breathing.
“Dead.”
He said calmly. As if just mentioning something that doesn't matter. He took out his phone. Enter a series of numbers.
“The abandoned factory south of the city has a body.”
“Let someone come handle it.”
“Disguising the scene as a payment between gangs.”
“Thirty minutes.”
“Must be cleaned up.”
The commanding tone is concise and decisive. Carrying majesty that makes others unable to resist. He looked towards me again.
“This place is not safe.”
“Let me take you.”
"No need."
I refused immediately.
“I can walk by myself.”
I turned around. Prepare to leave this nauseating place.
“Thanh Thanh, wait!”
He called after him.
"I know."
“I have no right to ask for your forgiveness.”
“But there are a few things.”
“You must tell me.”
He took a deep breath. As if just making an extremely difficult decision.
“Tham Zhenhua's death was truly a trap.”
“But he set a trap.”
“Not us.”
“The three of us.”
“It's just a chess piece.”
