Chapter 3
Chapter 3 — Two Fathers
Ta Vo Cuu raised his eyes. That person's eyes first fell on the Phung family's lady. Being looked at by that person, the Phung family's lady's face immediately turned red. “I'm only worried that Miss Tham will lose the face of the general's palace.” Ta Vo Cuu did not speak. He put down the wine cup. A soft sound rang out. The whole electricity seemed to be suppressed by that sound. The person stood up. Everyone thought that person wanted to reprimand me. Even Phung Chinh Thanh looked relieved. My father suddenly closed his eyes for a moment. Ta Vo Cuu walked through the royal path step by step. That person did not look at anyone from the Phung family. Nor did he look at the emperor. His eyes only fell on me. The closer we get, the more clearly we can see that face. Your eyebrows are cold. The ends of the eyes are thin. Lip color is very light. But for some reason, I feel like that person is a bit familiar. Like a certain line we see every time we look in a bronze mirror. That person stopped before my judgment. There was no sound in the whole electricity. I sit. That person stood. I raised my head to look at that person. That person also bowed his head and looked at me. His eyes were very cold. But when I saw the exposed jade button on my sleeve, it suddenly changed. The cold broke. The shock was pressed deep into the eyes. That person raised his hand, as if wanting to touch the jade button. I instinctively withdrew my hand. “This is mine.” Ta Vo Cuu's hand stopped in midair. He looked at me, his voice was very light. “Who gave it to you?” I look at father. Tham Hac Tranh stood behind me. He seemed to have finally made the decision that had been delayed for twelve years. He bent down and picked me up. I was startled. "Father!" He didn't look at me. He carried me and walked towards Ta Vo Cuu. The electric official's face changed. The Emperor also sat up straight. Ta Vo Cuu stood in place, each knuckle clenched. Father stopped in front of that person. The two were so close that they could hear each other's breathing. Father looked at Ta Vo Cuu. The edges of the eyes turn red. He said in a low voice: "I brought her here." Ta Vo Cuu's face at that moment was terrifyingly white. Father led me forward, his voice hoarse as if cut by a knife. "This." “Your mother is here.” The whole person stiffened in mid-air. Literature and martial arts, even electricity, were stiff. Even the sound of the pipa in the musician's hand was interrupted by half a beat. I bowed my head and looked at myself. He raised his head to look at Ta Vo Cuu again. Dark red organelles. Wide shoulders and narrow waist. Cold eyes. The pharynx is still there. A voice exploded in my head. My mother, is she a man? Ta Vo Cuu did not pick me up. It was as if his hands and feet were nailed. But my father's hand that was holding me suddenly let go. I didn't have time to take precautions and fell down. Ta Vo Cuu finally moved. That person raised his hand to receive me. Very steady movement. But the arm holding me is shaking. I pressed it against his mantle and smelled a very faint cold scent. Like snow covering pine branches. It's like the smell of old toilets that have been sealed at the bottom of a chest for many years. That person bowed his head and looked at me. The eyes that were just now so cold that they could kill people, were now broken into pieces. I have never seen such a person. Obviously not crying. But it was so painful that my whole body couldn't stand. I swallowed my saliva. “Are you really my mother?” The sound is not loud. But Tai Chi Palace is too quiet. So quiet that every word fell clearly. Someone took a deep breath. Some people choked on alcohol. The lady of the Phung family widened her eyes even more as if she had seen a ghost. Ta Vo Cuu's eyelashes trembled slightly. That person did not answer. My father took half a step back. But after handing me over, he finally dared to breathe. The Emperor sat high up, the smile on his face had long since disappeared. He looked at the three of us, his fingers gently tapping on the armrest. One. Two. Each knock made the heads of the people in the hall bow a little lower. Ta Vo Cuu finally spoke. “Shen Hac Tranh.” Very light voice. But colder than a blade. “You dare say that here?” My father raised his eyes to look at that person. “I dare.” Ta Vo Cuu's hand hugged me tightly. “Twelve years ago you wouldn't have dared.” The bottom of my father's eyes were bloodshot. “If I had dared twelve years ago, you wouldn't be alive today.” As soon as the words were spoken, the faces of many people in the palace changed. I was sandwiched between two people, suddenly feeling like a loser
n hot hands. Ta Vo Cuu bowed his head and looked at me. I also looked at that person. The more I look, the more strange it becomes. That person's eyebrows were cold and hard. But the curvature of the corner of the eye is exactly like mine. The bridge of that person's nose is very high. Me too. Even the look of me pursing my lips when angry seems to be found on that person's face. My heart beat loudly. Over the years, every time I look in the bronze mirror, I always feel like I'm not like my father. His five senses are sharp, and when he smiles, he seems as arrogant as a bandit. As for me, I was often told by Uncle Qin that my eyes were too cold, not like a child raised in a martial artist's house. Turns out it's not that different. But like someone else. I grabbed his shirt tightly. “Why don't you come see me?” Ta Vo Cuu's eyes shook violently. After asking, I immediately regretted it. Because he looks more hurt than my father. The person said in a low voice: "I have been here before." I was stunned.
